  1. I see we're both never satisfied with the original strap... I mean the original rep strap !

I usually find what I look for on ebay.

As far as dressy watches are concerned, I like these too :

http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...products_id=834 (already some kind of hybrid)

    http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...;products_id=13

For the Breguet, I had long hesitations against the Patek. I finally chosed the Patek because I liked the pushers more and usually I prefer the arabic digits to roman ones.

    Sorry, I'm a bit off-topic.

  2. Hi all,

    http://watchwindersworld.com/hq20002-movt-...hes-p-2632.html

Josh is offering waterproofing + servicing for 120 bucks.

Done by swiss trained staff (reminds me of an other US based dealer... :whistling: )

What's your feeling about that ?

    - is it cheap/normal/expensive ?

    - despite the respect I have for this delaer, can such an offer be trusted ?

    - which movements (appart from the 7750 which obviously feels better after servicing) are worth such an operation ? Swiss ETAs ? Seagull (Lemania clone) ?

BTW, aren't most of our reps supposed to be already waterproof ?

Thx for your comments, and sorry if I missed a similar thread.

  3. It's all in the details, Pix... Besides the BASE which is missing, the subdials intersect the 10, 8, 2, and 4 at the wrong points, the color of the numbers is wrong (in the white gold gen, they're black with a faint sheen; a semi-gloss - not silver), and the subdial color is WAY off. The chrono pushers are also the wrong shape, as is the crown.

Thx for the lesson Ethan ! Still have to train my eyes...

nyway, this watch looks most smart for me, and I like this style, as I also like the Breguet style.

I'm coming from the 100 bucks reps (see my siggy), so I can only hope that, as inaccurate as it is, this 5070 will be some kind of shock for me.

I'm really looking forward to wear it and have the Seagull/Venus movement stuck on my wrist ! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  4. Hi,

as most readers of this topic, I think that could be my next rep. Finishing looks good, especially for the price.

But always the same old problem for me : size ! De pending on how the dial is, I can wear some 44 mm watches, but not always.

Would someone be kind enough and let me know the size :

    - of the dial itself (that makes most of the size feeling on your wrist, at a first glance)

    - of the edge between the crown and the dial

    - and finally the diameter, crown included.

Thx a lot to whom will loose some minutes for me :)

  5. hi Ethan, one other Q, Andrew has a very nice 5070, all solid stainless and with white face, not cream, how do you feel about this one?? hows the lamania movement been for you as well ?

    Hi,

I just ordered it, should receive it within 10 days, I'll let you know my feelings. On the pics, it looks quite accurate, excpt the "base" mention missing on the dial. And of course the Lemania movement which is actually a copy of it. Not the same price anyway :whistling:

  6. :)

Yes, right : I need to find a way to get rid of the direct lighting too. I will try the "pillow" trick ^_^

I also bought a tripod on ebay for... 2 EUR + carriage... Should do the job.

BTW Flavor Fav, I'm looking for a similar strap as you have on your avatar : black alligator with red stitching. It's for my Kalashnikov watch. :captain:

If you have any clue. Thx

  7. Hi,

would you post one or two pics of the blue one ? How does the strap look like ? Cheap or quality leather ?

My stopwatch hand reset very slightly before 12. Hardly noticeable. But it seems to be a problem on many "chep?" quartz movements. I have two other Chronos (non reps from cheaper brands >> Festina and Fila) and they also do not reset correctly.

    Cheers.

BTW : what colour is your SLK ? ;)

  8. Syn.Sapphire eqv. to Mineral Glass

If it's true, that's lame... What's the link between sapphire and mineral glass ?!

Worst : the water drop test becomes perfectly useless : it works well on both my so called "synthetic sapphire" reps... :black_eye:

  9. Hi,

why don't you dress it with an integral leather strap from Hirsch ?

It will exactly fit the edges of the watch, thanks to its special curved ends and give it a sexy aspect (same spirit as the Tag SLR)

I would take an alligator grain, that will cost you about 50 dollars.

  10. Sry but it looks "off" at first sight compared to real one.But a really nice watch for the price! ^_^

    3. How is it ? As a rep

(...)And I'm afraid that purists will be disappointed : as far as I can see, the SLR only exist in black. So the brown colour is the first easy clue to say "fake" !

    Agreed ! ;)

BTW : the clasp problem has been solved : sand paper and "steelwool" 000 :thumbsupsmileyanim:
