I will probably try and mod the case to seat the Xtal better and then send it to prof for his magic.

Here's some pics with a sapphy Xtal on my franken 089. The first pic shows the cyclops which IMO is quite good. Correct mag and no halo where it was attached.

The second pic shows the fit which is what annoys me the most. Xtal is a little tall for the case so won't seat flush. That of course could be the case so not sure I can fault them for that.

Finally the purple AR which is exaggerated on this watch because the dial can give of a similar hue but most of this is the crystal. I had a colorless AR before and I can definitely tell the difference. RIP Xtal.

I ended up getting one. Happy with the crystal and cyclops mag was good but AR was the Chinese purple hue, which kinda sucked. Will have to get new AR at some point

The watch in this thread had a 6536 replacement dial from the 60s - so yes not the /1 designation (but also not the '55 gilt).

Nevertheless, stunning.

Any idea what Eric is wearing in the video? Doesn't seem like an overly thin case like a /1

The 6536 is ridiculously thin, and the 6538 is much thicker. The Big Crown almost makes a 6536 look like a dress watch in comparison.

Well at least we don't have to look at it. I've never met someone so hostile about his stance on a watch being genuine that was so incredibly horribly a fake. I guess it's like that shaggy song: "just say it wasn't you"

So what's the difference between a 6538 and 6536 case? I thought they were the same and the only diff between the models was the depth rating and cosc rating.

If you haven't seen this talking watched episode. Eric Ku is wearing an amazing 6536. The gilt dial just sparkles on his wrist the entire video but jump to 8:45 to listen to just the discussion on the 6536

I'm just amazed that some fool bought that watch for $6K. I've been keeping an eye on tonnywatches' dials for a while now. I'm kinda surprised he'd try to sell a franken for that much- wonder what will happen when the buyer figures out he got taken. The only thing old on that watch is the movement- insert is recent service insert, crown could be a 702 and worth $100, maybe $150...  I guess I'm disappointed in tonnywatches.

Why? He was totally honest in the descriptions. Don't hate the player hate the game.

The eyes and ability of the members here never cease to amaze me.

As with all my watches, trying to make them identical to gen is not my goal. Trying trying to make them into something I look down and love is always the goal. Generally, a phenomenal AR and a great dial is usually all it takes. Sometimes, a few other bits are added. I love this one just how it is and all the mods were done by me so probably not going any further. Although rather than have the A7750 serviced, it will be tempting to throw in a gen ETA at which time, the hands would need to be done anyway. We'll see when the time comes.

That's amazing. Fake case and fake dial at he got $6000. The seller was tonnywatches. Lots of members here are buying his dials. Nothing really to flag about him as a seller, he was honest in the description.
