Fake, and I hate that watch. So many tells.
What are the tells?

I know this is blurry and I know nothing about this model but was wondering if anyone knows if this is real or fake. Thanks for your time and effort.

Come on....this is getting ridiculous with these builds. My interpretation: "Hey guys let me show you these pictures of my build of parts you will never find a single one of let alone all of them in one place. But don't worry, I have them all and assembled them into a watch that will make you hate every watch you own. Here look, look look at these pictures in super high resolution taken with my 40 million mega pixel camera with all the perfect angles and lighting. That's right, breath it in. Scroll through each one and open them all up individually and zoom in and really appreciate how amazing what I have done is. Now stare down at the crappy TC on your wrist which you thought was cool because you added a gen insert. Can you feel what I'm feeling...that's right, your watch sucks, it's a turd."
:-) I don't even know what else to say dbane. That thing is like staring at Jessica Simpson pictures from the Dukes of Hazzard movie. (Note no other pictures of JS just those). I'm in awe and envy of what you've created. It's freakin art not a watch.

Step 1. Born with love for watches
Step 2. Discover reps and buy a bunch
Step 3. Start loving watches even more because they are now so accessible
Step 4. Start appreciating the details more and the flaws of the reps you own.
Step 5. Start building/buying frankens to fix the flaws
Step 6. Buy a gen because one of the reps you love has a flaw that can't be easily fixed
Step 7. Start appreciating the quality of the gen you own and realizing gen is gen.
Step 8. Start buying only gens
Step 9. Start buying vintage gens.
Just read through these and figure out where you are. If you are asking the question posed in this question you are transitioning from stage 5 to 6. Building an expensive Franken is just part of the process. It's neither right nor wrong. Enjoy the journey.

Must share a great story. When I was seven my father had a business meeting at the Omni hotel in Atlanta. This was the early 70s and my father at the time was know for his quick temper and take no crap attitude. His co workers approached him in the lobby saying there was a guy at the bar talking junk and in need of a lesson. My dad went in with bad intentions and and there was Ali in all his glory. His co workers were all cracking up.I still have his autograph from that day.It is signed to little champ..............Sad day.
Great story

Safari with 100% made in Asia Croc hornback straps. Inserts, croc leather and workmanship are all developed, sourced and done in Asia.
More things to come.
Great looking strap but need to tighten up the fit by the lugs/inserts. You sell a gazillion if you get that right

I hate everyone of you jerks that has built a beautiful one of these. My Grail.

I'd say the first pic is gilt for sure. Look at the way the lines look almost backlit. Def relief gilt. The second picture I can't really tell

There's a gen 6542 for sale on HQMilton right now for $10k. It doesn't have the bakelite insert, and the dial is a service replacement, but for the price of a super franken you could use that as down payment on the gen!
Also, member Joeyb here on the forum produces gen-spec replacement bakelite inserts. Contact him for details.

Saw that. Very tempting

Looks gilt to me. Look at the way each of the minute marks kind of shimmers differently.

Always thought I was a nerd.
By the way....
Bro, she's not staying below anyone's radar. Lol

It is a Speedmaster Professional, aka a moonwatch - because it is the only watch to have been worn on the moon.
Not true, one of the astronauts took a backup and wore it on the moon because allegedly the crystal in his Speedy fell out. I'm calling bs on the crystal. I bet Bulouva paid him an assload of money to get their watch out there and because it was not nasa issue, he needed an excuse. (I think it was Bulouva but I could be off just google it)

Thanks, this is a modded rep.
So nice. Looks gilt.

I'd like this 10 times if I could. Gen?

Rolex Real or Fake
in General Discussion
Posted
Thanks guys.. Appreciate the feedback. I don't have it in my hands so I can't try the functions. A girlfriend of mine was asking. For anyone wondering those are not my hands they are hers. And yes, I agree with those who think this is the worst rolex you can buy. Thanks for the input guys.
