  1. Generally I think the risk is lower from EU to US than the other way around. Here in Florida I received watches from Italy, the U.K., Sweden and Denmark with no trouble whatsoever... just my two cents, in the end customs will always pose a risk at some level...
  2. Received 2 m2m shipments lately both from the UK, went straight through customs in NYC with no problems nor delay... Shipments from EU/UK I wouldn't be too concerned with. China/Asia is a different story though
  3. What about a Datejust or a Datejust II? Perhaps a TT model on oyster bracelet..? I think that's gonna be my next one
  4. As a noob myself I would like to add a few comments to your discussion. First of all, I cincerely understand where you are coming from, nobody wants to be scammed. No doubt scamming over the web via PP etc. has become incredibly easy and some heartless people are probably searching forums like this for new victims to fool for money. It would be easy to set up some 'house-rules' for who can be allowed in the trading area to avoid the majority of these scammers. For me personally it would basically mean the following; as I am not posting a lot, (I simply do not have enough time mostly due to work), I would not be able to have access to the trading area and would have to rely only on the TD's. With all due respect for the TD's it is buying from eachother that, for me -and probably many other noobs- gives this hobby a little extra. Since I started in this hobby around a year ago I have purchased 10 reps, most of these have been private trades over either RWG or RG, I really believe that there are a lot of well meaning noob's like myself that would be cut off a very important part of the 'club' if we can not access the trading. I visit the site every day and does quite some reading, I unfortunatly do not find the time to sit down and join the discussions at the moment. What other possibilities than closing down a big group of members could be considered? Because obviously if it is an increasing problem it needs to be taken serious, but personally I would like to avoid keeping out a large group of users that would be effected if a post count of 50 needed to visit the trading area was to be implemented. You could of course argue that I should up my posting cadence, but I would rather not post just for the sake of posting
  5. What about a Rolex DJ 1 on jubilee either SS or TT? Cartier Santos XL, Omega PO or a beautiful IWC Portuguese white face on brown leather would also sit good in that box
  6. Thanks for the feedback Tiyal, I appreciate it. Before finding a camera with good enough lense to 'super-mag' it, I managed to find threaded pins for Cartier Santos XL on the bay following this link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-Top-23mm-Stainless-Strap-Screw-for-Leather-Band-fit-CARTIER-SANTOS-100-XL-/140827935650?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c9ffc3a2 It was a bit of a gamble as mine is a rep but they arrived the other day and work as a charm. Very happy! Just though I would share this link with you guys in case you run into the same unfortunate problem as it does not use standard stems.
  7. Update, i went to a few jewellery stores and a store where they only sell second hand high end watches plus the local omega dealer. None of them could help me. I brought the threaded pin I still have to show them. This is not good, I'm afraid I will never wear my beautiful watch again, Anybody who knows if I can get rep spare parts anywhere?
  8. Dear all, I lost one of the threaded pins for the strap Anyone with a good idea how to get a new one? Is it realistic to source one from the mall/pedestrian street? Looking forward to hearing from you.
  9. Hi Carl, Thank you kindly for taking your time to look at it. I have sent an email to the dealer with the question, guess I hoped that it was common knowledge for regular pure time-customers. Regarding the second one, seems like my Franken project finally is picking up pace, if not I will order this one. Thanks. Thanks for sharing your opinion regarding the full gold watch. It is always tricky regarding these I guess. I really like the watch, but leaning towards that TT's instead. I am in a social position like I believe most on this board, by no means rich, but could buy 2-3 of most watches, I also own a few gens already, my problem is that I like a lot of watches and I cannot limit myself to only a few I could probably afford the gen of the gmt if I found it used and saved up (meaning no reps for a while) Thanks again Carl, for sharing your thoughts!
  10. Dear fellow watch-lovers, I am on the verge of making a couple of additions to my collection and I have a couple of questions maybe you guys can help with, (I promise to create a thread with pictures when I receive the package in return for your help ) One of my purchases will be from puretime please see link.. http://puretime.co/product/datejust-...s-on-bracelet/ There is a drop-down menu where you can choose movement (a21j or swiss ETA) do any of you guys know whether it is the same watch (case, dial, bracelet etc.) just the movement is different, or - is it a 'worse' watch if you use the 'cheap' version? I am leaning towards the a21j, but do not want it if it is a crappy rep... Next up is this one. http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?...bef7ad14cafa8a The classic two-tone datejust, the closest out of the box rep of the classic from the 80's/90's I could find. I have been wanting this watch for a long time, orginally I wanted a franken, but without any luck for months finding one, I have decided to try the one from trusty. Any experiences with this one? Next one will be this one. http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?...bef7ad14cafa8a I know a lot of you do not care much for gold-plated watches, but I am really in love with this model, a friend of my parents has the gen, and it is absolutely stunning. I am not that worried about wear, as it will be in heavy rotation and only worn very occasionally. Personally I have had no problems with gold plated reps, I have a 3 year old TT sub I have used 1,5 years as a daily beater, no problems at all with the gold plating. Alternatively I have thought about a full gold daytona, as I could fit it with a leather-strap if/when the gold on the bracelet is starting to wear off. What do you think? Wouldn't the GMT look stupid on a leather strap? I would rather not get two full gold watches as it will be worn too rarely, which one will you recommend me? Daytona would be the one in the link below. http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?...bef7ad14cafa8a I will buy one or two more reps, I have considered; Alange Söhne dress model, Corum Admirals Cup or maybe joining the AP gang with a ROO from Trusty Lastly I want to buy a nice brown leather strap for my Panerai 005, and this will then be enough shopping for today I think
  11. Removed, Apparantly I do not know how to post pictures
  12. First time wrist shot posting. Bank Holiday in DK, enjoying the nice weather with my Omega PO
  13. Dear all, After I have been lurking around a bit without posting I better properly introduce myself. I am one of probably many RG transfers after the site went AWOL. Around 3-4 years in the community, mainly reading but also a few posts and some deals. I own a few gens and a few reps, but looking to expand my collection Looking forward to spending hours in here.
  14. Automatico, Do you have any pictures of that TT DJ? Im in the market for a Franken or semi Franken TT DJ with jubilee bracelet Thanks
