  1. Not sure how it looks in the photo because I'm staring at the watch But they are both "low" or too far clock wise... Not sure if they will both be perfect at the same point, but the cyclops is the only thing that's noticable without staring at it close up...
  2. Link? I've seen the perfects on watchwindersworld (but not of the pepsi GMT): http://watchwindersworld.com/rlss10006-per...iss-p-1335.html
  3. Where does one find the rolex leather straps? It can be a "rep" but I'm looking to find something like this: from this thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=19062&hl= It seems that he ordered that on the watch, but can you get them an a part from anyone?
  4. I'm also considering taking the cyclops off and either putting it back on right, or just going without... I'm not a huge fan of date them anyway so the only negative of losing it is it wouldn't be as accurate to the gen, but I don't think I really care about that anyway... But that little itty bitty rolex etching will still be slightly off.... Hmmmm So to remove the cyclops I just heat it up with a little torch? Is there anything I have to be careful not to get hot when I do it? I was reading this: and that sounds easy enough....
  5. any better description as to how to do that?
  6. I just got my first rep from Joshua, a Rolex GMT II: link to bigger shot: http://www.pbase.com/benjacobsen/image/73195199 and the crystal seems to be a tad out of alignment... Not horrible, but I'm sure in time it will bug me. If you look at the cyclopes in the above link you should be able to see it, and the etched rolex logo on the crystal is just a tad past the :30 mark... Not even halfway to :31 though... So is there an easy way to fix this without taking the whole watch apart? I've never taken a watch apart before so that's a bit intimidating, but now that I've found the wonderful world of Reps, I can see how I might get into it anyway... I've found this excellent thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=4275 but I'm just wondering if I can avoid the whole disassembly? Thanks, Ben
  7. It's "slightly" different... didn't know where I should post the questions as this is the "rolex" thread, the other is more for venor review... Thanks! Ben
  8. Just got my first rep in: WOW! It's obviously a Rolex GMT-MASTER II. It's my first rep. It's great. It looks awesome and I've shown it to 3 co workers already this AM. One owns a (very old) genuine rolex and he was blown away by this rep. He couldn't believe it was this good for what I paid for it. The other guys, who's always wanted a rolex and "knows about reps" was also blown away with the quality. The third guy has just ordered the "perfect" (but just walked in and it's out of stock )... SO yeah, it's impressive to non watch people and even people who know about watches, just not the specific details of reps versus gens... The only bad news in this whole thing is now I'm hooked for sure. Any spare $$$ I have will be going into this new hobby. wrist shot: So a question about the crown and setting the watch. I set the GMT hand to 5 hours before my time because I'm on the east coast so that's right. Set the date moving the crown the other way at that "stop". Then I pull it out (pretty hard) to fully out and set the time (which reset the GMT hand) so then I go back in to reset the GMT... It's all set. But then to screw the crown back in, it's sort of and awkward push while turning/spinning/screwing motion. Is that right? Also should it be pretty firm moving the crown in and out to the 3 different positions (unscrewed, GMT/date, and time)? I guess tight is always better than lose though... Also as for band size, I move the adjuster in the clasp to fully tight with is close to right... But if I need to take a link out, I just unscrew the screw on both sides of the link and I'm all set? My previous swiss is a push out pin style so I've never dealt with this with the screws... Also another question... What's the legality of owning/buying one of these... I was thinking about that since I ordered it. Is it legal to buy this as a replica? Is it legal to own it as a replica? I'm sure making them is not so good, but they do that in china where they don't go by the rules anyway... Just curious. Thanks! Ben You can go here to see the images bigger, for some reason hot linking the bigger pic ain't working right now: http://www.pbase.com/benjacobsen/rwgcc
  9. Very interesting. I have my first rep (a GMT II) on the way, and I've yet to decide how I'm going to set the GMT dial... To GMT To my time zone Flipped to my time zone (like this OP) .... I just can't wait to get the damn watch though...
  10. Something I noticed today on the site. When you go to the tracking site, the 4 digit val code will be let's say 1234, then once you type in you tracking number, the 4 digit code changes to a new number (at least it did for me)... So make sure you're not memorizing the first number and not catching the switch... Also I'm using firefox on a XP pro machine if that matters. Maybe get the IE tab extension and see if that helps? I'm also very curious as to when my watch will arrive. I paid wednesday, and got the tracking last night, so I'm wondering if it will show up today. it's my first rep, so I'm wicked excited right now....
  11. Hey paul, BTW, you know this isn't completely right, right: "♥ -- Judge only when you have heard BOTH stories !-- ♥" because there are 3 stories.... His Story Her Story and the truth!!! Thanks for the info. That other forum you linked 2 hasn't sent me my registration email after 24 hours... Do you have any other info on where I can contact Narikaa and/or is he a member here? Thanks, Ben
  12. Oh yeah, how wide is the typical Rolex GMT rep between the lugs? I'm pretty sure I'm going to be putting it on a ZULU band. I have a 20mm band already and I'm hoping that will fit, but if not how wide would I need? I'm thinking I could order that now and have it here when the watch gets here. Thanks, Ben
  13. Any links to how to grease the gaskets and pressure test it? I just ordered my first rep, and while I'm not planning on swimming with it, I'd like to be able to wash my hands or maybe take a shower with it... IE water resistant to 1' worst case and typical water spashage. Thanks, Ben
  14. I assume when everyone here gets a new replica they adjust the band themselves right? How do you do this? With a link removal tool, or something more crude? Also where can I buy a link removal tool, and are they brand specific? Thanks! Ben
  15. Yeah, well I went through with the putting the item in the cart at 3 different vendors. All listed paypal as an option, but Joshua was the only one who actually had it listed as an option from the cart with the item I wanted, so I went with him as I'm most comfortable with paypal over WU or Egold. The fact that Egold wouldn't load yesterday didn't help either... Thanks, Ben
  16. Wow. That's AWESOME!!! How much for you to do something like that?
  17. OK, i'm about to place my first order... I'm looking to buy from either WOmart, Perfect Clones (watchwindersworld), or trusty time. How do you guys pay for the watches? WOmart seems to only take western union... Perfect Clones has Paypal listed as an option... I suppose that could work. Trusty Time has eGold as the only option listed, but I can't get egold to come up, and I've never heard of it before so that makes me a little nervous versus the whole paypal (have an account) or Western union (I've heard of them, but never used them before...) route.... I've read the reviews on WOmart and they seem to work very well with the western union route. I'm just getting nervous when I'm filling in their info and some of the info they list doesn't have a "home" on western unions page.... Any advice? Thanks, Ben
  18. I'm already nervous about that part.... and it will be real interesting to see the wifes reaction... First that I bought a >$2,000 watch, and then once I explain I got it for "only" $200 she'll still be [censored] that I spent that much... But I've got my fun money budget, and this is what it's for...
  19. Thanks. The thing that got me thinking is the fact that trusty time has 2 different version for sale... Otherwise I was assuming they were all the same replica and all have the same functionality... As for signing up and upgrading... I'm very tempted to do so, but since it's my first day I just wonder if I'll be coming back here a lot or if this will be another one of my hobbies that last a month or less... I've always loved watches and can't afford the real deal though so I'm pretty sure I'll stick around (making the $10 no big deal...) But I did go to that section and was bummed to see the vendor reviews are hidden until you pay. Not that I don't think it's not worth it though as I prefer anything that keeps sites like this running and full of good info. Thanks again for the info. Ben
  20. Hey, great forum here and I've been wading through the info all day. I've been into watches for as long as I can remember and have always loved/wanted nice watches. I've also always been interested in replicas but have always shied away from the overcoat vendors in NYC. Well I was referred to this site and some of the vendors through a car forum I frequent and now I'm looking to buy my first replica. First question: I'm looking at getting a Rolex GMT master with the black dial and red/blue bezel. I've found it on WO mart, watchwindersworld and trusty time. My question comes with their descriptions of the GMT movement: WO Mart: GMT functional - with independent adjustable HOUR hand,NOT GMT hand same as original. Watchwindersworld/Perfect Clones: Movement: Swiss Eta 2836-2 Modified Automatic Movement, GMT Hand independently adjustable Trustytime version 1: GMT HAND: YES (Hour hand adjustable version) trustytime #2: GMT HAND: YES (GMT hand adjustable version) So what does all that mean? an I adjust and set both the GMT hand AND the hour hand on any of those? I'm just a little confused on their descriptions of the movements and adjust ability. Also there is the price difference between the 3 of $179, $208, and $218. The perfect clone version sounds like everything is adjustable, but I'm thinking the others might be also. Thanks for any advice on the 3... Also, anyone care to chime in as to what watch to get as my first between these 4: Rolex GMT Master II Rolex Submariner is it only $89 because Rolex doesn't actually make a black on black watch, or is it not built as well as the other replicas? Bell & Ross 46mm Black/Orange Chrono Bell & Ross 46mm Black/White Chrono I know it's all subjective. I really like black watches. The Rolex GMT is a classic sailing watch I've always admired so maybe I'll start with that since I've seen and admired the real deal. The black on black submariner is the cheapest to get my collection started, but why is it only $89? As for the 2 Bell & Ross watches, I really like U-BOAT watches and it's the closest I've seen in the replica world. I'd prefer Black w/Red and since they don't make that I'm wondering if I'd like orange or if it's too Halloweenish... Also the White version has better night readability so that's why it's in there.... Anyway, I'd really appreciate the help on the different movements on the GMT. If I can't set both the GMT hand and the hour hand it's out.... If I can then I'll probably get it first... Thanks, Ben
