Yep, I saw that thread too. I'll have to go look up the breitlings so I can find that watch.
-
Was going to start a new thread, but being a good little n00b, I searched Was watching this last night a bit (on the commercials during football) You guys sure it's a breitling? My first though was a rolex daytona, but you never really get that good of a look at it and I'm not that good at picking watches out...
-
So how much contrast did you add, and/or any other tricks? I was too lazy to do the eliptical selection on the crystal. actually looking at your shot next to mine, I can see you at least got the bezel too... and don't worry about the PSing it, I appreciate the help. Thanks, Ben

But that's why they need to implement it differently... On another forum I'm on, if you put the above it would go from: **** CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!1 LOL ROFL **** to **** Check This Out!!!!!1 Lol Rofl **** IE it keeps the cap on each single word, but knocks the rest of each word down. Also it only does it when the ENTIRE thread title is capped, not just some letters... I agree all caps (yelling) is annoying, but considering it's the right way to type out some of the watch names, maybe they can change it... I'm only suggestion it because I've seen it working on another board.

I've never been a big fan of filters (age old debate I know), but I can see how a polarizer would be very nice to get if I keep doing a lot of watches. The crystal is a PITA for sure. Thanks, Ben

OK, I know that there is a function (that's obviously turned on) that prevents caps lock usage... But it's not working right IMHO. If you type: "Check out my GMT II" as a title it will change that to "Check out my Gmt Ii" I know it's looking at consecutive digits, but is there anyway you can set it up just to check and make sure the ENTIRE title isn't capped? I'm a member on another board that uses the same software and that's how it works over there... IE if you TYPE LIKE THIS THEN IT WILL MAKE THE LETTERS SMALLER, but if you type 1 small letter in the field then it knows your caps lock isn't on and lets you do what you want... It's just driving me crazy because my first watch is a Rolex GMT II and the few threads I've started all have it as Gmt Ii... Thanks, Ben

Playing around with my camera and watch some more. This time getting a little closer. These are all the full image from the camera, IE no cropping, but a bit of PS work. Let me know what you think. Now I need to get some more watches to take pictures of because even my old swiss and Nixon are boring now... Ben

Not sure what it is. Seems to be an issue with Pbase lately (this week)... I'll post the big images link and sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn't, and then yesterday I'd post it but the medium size would show up... Very strange. I've been previewing the posts to see what will show up though... It's on again off again.
-
for some reason I can't seem to hot link to the bigger versions in Pbase right now... It's posted above but probably won't show up, so here's a link: http://www.pbase.com/benjacobsen/image/73195199/original Also I can email you an even bigger version if you like. That's only 800*533 Ben

Yeah, that's what I've been doing all week... I guess i should give it a few more days before I decide, but so far after 3 days I still don't like it yet... Thanks, Ben

OK, got my first rep finally. I've always like rolexes professional watches, and I love the GMT, so this is what I got: Now I've never really been a big fan of date bubbles. The GMT only comes with a date bubble so if I wanted a GMT it had to have one, and the GMT was the watch for me, at least as my first rep (of I'm sure many more to come...). But then after reading about more mods and other stuff on the forums I've learned I can just heat this little sucker up and remove it. I can also put it back on at a later date if I decide to from what I've read... So would you guys remove it, or leave it alone? I don't really care that it would be less accurate w/o it, it's just the though I might mess something up in the process. How hard is it to get one off with the torch technique? Thanks, Ben
-
Wow, I love threads like this. You guys are so good at picking up the minute details... I've been taking lots of notes in the last few days as to what to look for... Question for you guys: Would you remove the date cyclops on a GMT master II? I really don't like date bubbles as all the reflections on them drive me batty... But it's true to the original on the GMT. I'm very tempted to just burn this sucker off as it's my watch so why not make it the way I like it right? So what do you guys think? Ditch it or not? Thanks, Ben

Well since it's my only new watch right now it'll be this: for the whole weekend. Although I might bust out my Suunto Altimeter watch for skiing on Saturday.

Not bad for the money IMHO.

Thanks for the additional info. Don't worry I'm not bummed with my purchase at all. I'm just soaking in all the info. I have about 50 other watches bookmarked at this point that I want, so now I know more details to look at in the future. I'll keep this GMT II as it's good enough as my first Rep, and again it's details only watch nuts will pick up on so I don't care. I'm not trying to fool anyone into thinking this is a real rolex as I'd personally be embarrassed to wear a $5k watch. I just wanted to get a decent $200 watch with a swiss movement, and this was a very fun/interesting option over another swiss army or hamilton. I really appreciate the help though. That's what I love about this site. Now I just need to save up another $200 so I can get my next rep... Thanks, Ben

Are there any reps of the "LUMINOR 1950 GMT 8 DAYS" yet? Just saw it in Europa Star and it's awesome... it's on their homepage right now too:
-
Wow, thanks for all the info... I never noticed any of that after studying all the images at all 3 of those sites. Guess that shows how good you guys are with your watches. Very impressive. So can you explain the movement of the hands to me again... (I can see all the visual differences now that you pointed them out). When you say "the GMT hand is adjustable instead of the hour hand" what does that mean, because I can adjust both? So the actual hour hand (not the GMT hand) adjusts one hour at a time independently of the minutes when at the first click of the crown? How do you adjust the GMT hand then? Not sure if it would have made a difference in where I ordered the watch had I know this, but I did ask the difference back before I ordered: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=18771&hl= I ended up with Joshua because he has the better reputation from what I read and he took paypal which is a lot easier for me. At the time I was under the impression the watches were "the same" though. Live and learn I guess. I'm still very happy with the watch but now I know a little more of what to look for before buying my next watch! Thanks, Ben
-
yeah, I'm thinking I might remove it and see how I like it w/o, then if I don't like it I'll put it back on straight.... But I'll wait till tomorrow so I can see how it bugs me after another day...
-
Maybe it's just because I'm new to reps, but how is that any different from what I just ordered from Joshua? http://watchwindersworld.com/rlgs10003-mas...8362-p-413.html

Ordered last wednesday had an email with the paypal address thursday, paid thursday AM got a "receipt" from Josh on thursday got the shipping info Monday AM (I only check email at work M~F though) Got the watch today! I'm from RI, USA, and no customs issues at all... and FYI, it's still just leaving China by the tracking 2007-01-14 00:21:00 PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA GUANGZHOU EM Despatch from Sorting Center Good Luck! Just got my first watch from him today. It's was a 6"x6"x10" cardboard box in that box was a foam box that fit perfectly inside in that was a big bubble wrap "wad" that filled the space in that was a zip lock bag in that was the watch with a plastic bezel guard and a plastic wrap on the bracelet. as for how to contact him, use email, but remember the time zone difference before you get too impatient.

Just got this today (my first rep):

Do they make any that aren't crocodile? I'd love that strap, with the mechanical release in just plain black and plain brown leather.
-
Yep, it appears that if I can move it both will line up fine... I'm just a big nervous of opening up a brand new watch... Also since I don't like the cyclops anyway, maybe I should just remove that and see how bit the misaligned etching bugs me down the road...
