Does anyone have some dial feet they could spare? I don't feel like buying a full bag of 100 at Ofrie and pay the $17 shipping fee he charges to mail to Canada. I could use a dozen or so and can Paypal you some funds for your trouble. I have a few ideas and want to experiment in attaching to a dial. I promise I'll share my results if it works! thanks in advance!

Want to rid yourself of the extra dial? sure, I just have to find it. we moved and a lot of stuff was packed up. recently finding some nice parts to continue some projects. only thing about the dial is it is bigger then a genuine. I think 29mm, so will have to be modified if you want it to fit gen. case. from the looks of the dial feet, could be off a miyota rep. PM if interested.

thanks for all your kind words! Much appreciated.

Nice project!!! Stunning! One small detail you may want to look at is removing the date wheel and modifying the setting lever. Part 445/2. This way you will only have a two position stem. Only a small detail, but I'm going to update that on my EX1. If I can find one, I will swap out movement for Longines 644.1 movement. This movement is based on eta 2890. Very similar to 2892-2, but minus date, so only two position stem. And the extra bonus with this movement, is it was specially made by eta for Longines in a 12.5'''. Discontinued in the 80s so it may be tough to find.

I used a spacer ring from an eta 2834-2 movement and case clamps. The spacer ring fits the movement perfectly, but it requires a bit of sanding. The ring is 29mm, and it needs to be brought down to 28.5mm. easy to do, but tedious. I have a rep dial as well, and there is no comparison to genuine. The white gold markers and genuine lume are stunning. I think the only way I can be happy is using genuine 'domed' white gold hands. http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi?ref=ETA_2834-2 Part: Enlargement Ring 926/ETA 2834

Here are some pics of a Franken EX1 that I put together a while back. Genuine case, crystal, bezel, crown, and dial! crappy rep hands. I have yet to find a nice set of hands to compliment the gen. dial. I may have to just buy some genuine hands and broach the holes to fit eta. Not the greatest photos, but I hope you enjoy. Powered by eta 2824-2, the vacuum packed version, so swiss quality. I have this beauty on nato band as i have yet to find a genuine band to match the case. I tried a few aftermarket, but they just don't seem right. I tried to capture the lume of the genuine dial. The shots were of full charge. Notice how bright the genuine lume is compared to the hands! No comparison, it looks like the hands are not even glowing. I would take some pics of the inside, but the case has been waterproofed and tested by my watchmaker and I don't want to mess with the seals.

Important Announcement - Final Reminder
stilty replied to Finepics's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
@ Finepics too. ditto. i've got a watch waiting in the wings to send off to zig for relume. -
pretty pricey for a rep case! I would rather buy a same era datejust case, like a 1601, and install a smooth bezel, gen. crystal, crown and tube. Would cost less money, and you would have some nice Rolex steel! Nothing beats a genuine case, even if the case number is different. I built a fantastic modern EX1 with a gen. 16200 case. chipped off the cyclops, installed genuine dial, some crappy rep hands on 2824-2 and it looks great. One day I'll get around to posting some pics. Still trying to find some decent hands to compliment the genuine dial.

Gen Or Rep Eta 2892 Movements? Ebay Good Source ?
stilty replied to madonna's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
sounds like a smokin' deal and hopefully they work out for you. I've bought a couple off the 'bay myself and so far I am batting 0/2. They both ran extremely fast! One was running +10 sec./ minute! Took them to my watchmaker and he said there was nothing he could do without spending hours on the movement sorting out what parts need replacing, etc. I ended up buying a new movement, and am waiting on replacement cannon pinions, hour wheel, and fourth wheel. These need to be replaced as standard 2892 movements will not work with reps as the hand fitting height is too low. That 2892-a2 is probably going to be the jewel of the bunch! -
Payment sent. As per your email. thanks!

you can count me in. Still hoping the ultimate carbon fiber with new buckle is a go too.

Can Date Movement Be Modified To Non-date
stilty replied to stilty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
That is too funny! I called them, and gave them the part number, but they said they didn't need it! Huh???? They said they just needed calibre and part name and they could look it up from there. I gave them part number anyway and they said they wish more people would use part numbers. I did get scolded for calling a part something different then what they call it. I asked for a Second Wheel Pinion, which is listed on ETA parts chart, and the guy on the phone freaked and said it was the Fourth Wheel. Oh well. Maybe I'll try JulesBorel next time I need something. -
Can Date Movement Be Modified To Non-date
stilty replied to stilty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Cool... got it. That is the part that needs replacing! I'm sure this will work for 2824 and 2834. My brother's Mil Sub could use the update as well. I'm also looking at updating a movement to 2892, so I guess the correct part would be 445/ 2890, as the 2890-2 was the non date version of the 2892-2. thanks for pointing me in the right direction. -

Thanks Rob, unfortunately not registered with the site, so I can't view the link... unless it is because I'm using Safari on a Mac... keep getting an error page. Sent an email to Eta enquiring about registering. Cheers. -
Can Date Movement Be Modified To Non-date
stilty replied to stilty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
thanks guys! I did try that, but still get two positions when I pull the stem. would like it just to pull to one position and hack. Maybe i'm missing something. -
Question for watch makers, etc. Can a ETA movement that is used in a non date rep. ie, Explorer I, non-date Sub, etc be modified to remove the date change mechanism? I would like my EX1 to not have date change engage when you pull crown. Only one stop and hack. What parts would be needed to change? thanks.

Need Eta Cannon Pinion, Hour Wheel, And Second Wheel
stilty replied to stilty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thanks for the reply! I tried them about a month ago, but no luck and not so friendly service. I have the part numbers and lengths. Maybe I'll give them a call again and see what happens. If not, project on the back burner again. -
Need Eta Cannon Pinion, Hour Wheel, And Second Wheel
stilty posted a topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Hi there, I have exhausted all me leads searching for replacement parts for an eta 2892-2 movement. I need a longer Cannon Pinion, Hour Wheel, and Second Wheel to replace existing parts in a 2892-2 movement. My watchmaker did find some, but they were too short, and so far, those are the only parts that I have found. If I could find parts for hand fitting height of 5, I think that is what I need. Maybe some EU members would have better access, as I haven't been able to find any in Canada. I noticed that some members have been selling replacement cannon pinions and hour wheels for Eta/Unitas movements, so hopefully someone will be able to source, or point me in the right direction to find parts for 2892-2. PM me, or reply here if you have any suggestions. -
I'm looking for a SS crown for 2893-2 PAM029. I sent Palp a message, but have not heard back. Are these all gone? Anyone have one to sell? thanks!

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but figured it was worth a post. Now I'm thinking I may take some video of my collection and post
