  1. haha.. i see we both came to the same conclusion at the same time! 11:53.
  2. come to think of it, I don't think I will be able to use a 1570 date disc as the date progression is opposite of the eta.
  3. I will be using an eta movement with rolex date disc for overlay in a gen Rolex case. One dial I am looking at is from a 1575 calibre Rolex date. The date discs I have are meant for 3035 and 3135 models. I guess if I want to use that dial, I will have to source a 1575 style date disc.
  4. Hi Freddy, I did this mod on a 2824-2. I modded the part myself. I have not done this on a 2846, but I imagine the process is the same. I posted the topic, but I can't find it either. It must have been deleted for some reason. I don't think you can order the part for this calibre to convert to two position so you will have to modifiy it yourself. It is pretty easy to do. Here is a pic of the set bridge from a 2824-2. Modified on the left. the little bump in the middle has to be smoothed out to allow for two position.
  5. sorry for the confusion. I'm building a franken-date out of some spare gen parts. One dial I'm looking at is a 27mm date dial from a 1500 date. the original calibre is 1575. I have a few spare date discs laying around to use for overlay. One is 3135 and the other is 3035. I'm just wondering if the date window from the 1575 dial will line up with the date discs I have.
  6. thanks for all the info everyone. Alligoat, do you know if the 1575 will line up with 3035 or 3135? Or will I have to get a 1575 datewheel? I have both 3135 and 3035 style date wheels.. with open and closed fonts, so I could use either if I had to. I guess if I really needed to, I could just edit the scan of the dial in photoshop to the appropriate size, then print it out and see.
  7. I'm just wondering if any experts out there know if the date window position is the same for all movements. I have a 3135 size date wheel and wonder if it will line up with the window on a genuine dial made for a 1575 movement. Thanks!
  8. seeing the pic of the bar [censored] in the "No Rolex- No sex" shirt reminds me of a story I heard a while back... seems some gold diggin' bar sluts would cruise the scene looking for candidates in high end watches, Daytonas, etc. Have a few too many drinks, go home with their mark, get them naked, watch included, show them a good time, then slip out in the middle of the night, with the watch. I would recommend you keep your watch on if you find yourself in that situation. And if you attend swinger parties, it is best to wear something that you don't mind losing or misplacing! Otherwise leave it at home... this includes your watch.
  9. PM sent.
  10. they have to be changed to a taller fitting height in order for the hands to clear the dial markers, especially since you have to add a spacer between the dial and movement.
  11. Sweet! payment sent and looking forward to receiving one. Thanks for all your work in putting together the group buy!
  12. A true 1:1 case. I would love to find one, even in 316L steel, as long as it accepted genuine parts. But ideally I would prefer 904L... only a dream though. sigh.
  13. I'm sure I'll be able to work something out with them. They'll be happy to take more money from me! I already have an extra policy out for my golf clubs as they spend most of the time in my trunk and the car policy does not cover loss of contents.
  14. The hand fitting size is the same. I have not fit this in the 16000 case so I don't know the spacer size.
  15. Thanks everyone. My policy is coming up for renewal and was just curious. No way in hell I would even consider a rep, but when I look at the drawer of gen cases, dials, crowns, date discs, hands, bracelets, and all the movements, it really adds up!
  16. I'm curious as to what to do with insurance. Obviously, one cannot insure reps as genuine, or even insure reps. I can't see any insurance company covering illegal goods. But damn, it would be a drag to have my watches stolen, or lost in a fire or earthquake. "knock on wood" What about Frankens? One can easily spend $1000 on a franken if one uses all genuine parts. How would that work? The watch is not illegal nor is it infringing on copyright... all the parts are genuine, with the exception of the movement. I can only see it being a problem if the watch was represented as 100% genuine. Or how about those spectactular Daytonas out there with zenith movments and all gen parts? We're talking thousands of dollars per watch? $800 to $900 for the dial alone! How would one list with insurance company? How do you prove value or replacement cost? Would one line list as an inventory of parts? Could one list the genuine serials from the cases?
  17. You can't go wrong with a Rolex Explorer I
  18. go to julesborel.com I think this is the part you are looking for: Ref #5101/534 Case Screw or 2490/OME 960 Make sure you order two as they are not sold in pairs. Will cost you about $4.50 each or you can buy 3 at $3.50 each in case you loose one.
  19. was just browsing julesborel.com and came across this. eta 2894-2 and rolex 3135 use the same hour wheel. can it be so? WATCH MATERIAL INTERCHANGE LIST 255/1346 HOUR WHEEL, SS HT 1.17 255/2894-2 Price Each $ 0.00 Price Each (3) $ Add to Order ETA 2894-2 ROL 3135 rolex uses a 1.40 hand hole size, and eta is typically 1.50. I wonder if one can special order hand hold sizes for the eta cannon, hour and fourth wheels? I think I will have to send them an email.
  20. Non-Vintage? My understanding is you are looking for modern Explorer I then? Sapphire? I don't know if a genuine/generic rolex crystal will fit a rep case.
  21. I'm no PAM expert, but I think there were two versions of the dial. On was T and one was L. I think the T version had the markers further in on the dial. My dial is markerd L, and I think it is correct. Here is the T version: Here is the L version.
  22. I have searched for some good aftermarket hands, but have yet to find some. I opted for genuine hands for my projects. I'm modifying the movement parts, rather than the hands, to fit on eta movements as the parts are relatively cheap and the hands are damn expensive. I posted an experiment a while back in watch repair. Check Here I've just found a watchmaker with a lathe. I have a meeting with him, but I am just waiting for more cannon pinions and hour wheels before I go see him. I've burned through a few parts experimenting on getting the hands to fit. I don't think you will be able to modify for 1570 hands as the difference is too great. You could try hands for 3035 as they are closer.
  23. I believe the hands for 1570 are 80/120/20. The eta are 90/150/25. Quite a difference in hole size.
  24. and a rolex 3135 will be 95/140/22
  25. Really? My guess is he is probably up there in the ranks of The Zigmeister. He probably goes that extra mile and puts 110% into the job. Unlike some North American who would probably go on disability and complain about how little they receive from the welfare system. Just my two cents.
