Cool. I always wondered what it was! Now how does one go about checking the torque? I wonder if one could rig a case back ring on a torque wrench?

I can see Neil's point about dodgy tattoo parlors and mid-life crisis. But one must keep in mind that there is another end of the tattoo spectrum. Good tattoos from masters are not cheap! And even if you can afford it, it doesn't mean you will be able to get one. A good friend of mine, who happens to be a VP for a HR firm, waited over 1 year for an appointment. He got a piece done on his calf. $3500 pricetag. Even here in Vancouver there is a master tattooist called the Dutchmen. Try and get an appointment with him. No chance. Look at what Kat from Miami Ink charges an hour. $400.

That picture is one I used for reference for one of my tattoos. It is called Uzushio, or eddying current. That piece is part of a full suit that was done in the traditional method. All by hand by master Horiyoshi-III. Here is another work of art from the master. quite stunning work.

Tattoos are a very personal thing, so I don't think anyone should tell you what you should or shouldn't have done. Just my opinion. I think a nice watch compliments the wearer, with or without a tattoo. Personally I think a nice watch looks great with a NICE tattoo. And to be honest, while there are still a few out there with stereotypes about those with tattoos, the tattoo is more acceptable, even in the corporate world. I don't think anyone can judge one who has a tattoo and a nice watch. I think it is silly for one to think that just because one has a tattoo and a nice watch, that he/she can't afford it and it must be fake! Give me a break! And if there is one that has that notion, I dare you to go up to the next biker you see, who is riding a custom $50000.00 bike, full sleeves, and a nice watch. I dare you to ask him if his watch is a genuine! And tattoos and nice watches are not just for rock stars, anyone out there watch sports? How many NBA players, or NFL players are covered with tattoos? How many of them wear nice watches? I dare someone to ask a 295lb linebacker if his blinged out rollie is fake. I think you should get whatever you want tattooed. I don't think you should worry about a watch. I've gone through phases where I've had gens, even gone two years without even wearing a watch, to reps, to frankens, Your tattoo is going to be around a lot longer than any watch you will ever wear, especially if your watch is a rep.

Well, I'd be interested if they were not redials for $250! and very poor redials at that. the coronet looks nothing like Rolex. Sorry Raijor, not to hijack your post. FYI -- I'm looking for either one of these dial. genuine, and not redone. Date dial in salmon with arabic numerals Date dial in white with arabic numerals I found one source with a set of matching hands for $350, but I'm just waiting in case something shows up on the bay. -

cool. that movement should work fine for you. As far as 2x1mm plates, are you thinking of case clamps? These can be bought from ofrei or julesborel. They run about $4.00 each, plus a couple bucks for the screws. You can use a 2834-2 enlargement ring for a spacer. It will require some modification to fit the case, but it is pretty easy to do. I think vmena is selling an enlargement ring if you don't want to go through julesborell. -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-AIR-KING-PRECISI...VQQcmdZViewItem All yours for $250! They use a special black luminova paint and the new style Rolex coronet! :yucky:

Here is a couple of quick pics of the movement I have ready to go in my franken 15200. See how nicely it fits in the genuine Rolex case. You gotta love the finish as well! 100% swiss movement! Movement is eta 12892, which is no longer produced. circa 1985, so it is over 20 years old. this movement is NOS and I picked it up for $70 USD. New, never used, but will require a full service and lube job due the age of oil, or lack of. Although, I was told the oil in this movement is synthetic and it should still be fine. Currently the movement is running -2 seconds in Pos. 1. There are a few of these movements out there that are tested to 6 positions and are COCS certified. This one isn't but is looking good so far. Yes, more costly then a modern 2824-2 if you include the cost of a service, but what I like about this movement is the size, 12.5''', same diameter as Rolex and no need for spacer ring. Also, a larger rotor, so you can really feel it winding. Hand winding is super smooth, and very close the feel of a Rolex movement. I find 2824-2 and 2836-2 movement very stiff to wind. Winding this movement is effortless. Downside is you have to replace cannon pinion, hour wheel, and fourth wheel, but no big deal if you are doing a full service. Parts are available from either Ofrei of Julesborel. I have everything ready to go for this project except the dial. -
Cool. The last time I met with members was about 3 years ago, maybe even longer. There were only four of us from TRC, including Eddie Lee! I missed the second meeting as I had a late work meeting. I remember talking to Eddie and he was bringing a then "all new" PAM with jedi lume. Too bad I missed it. I've since lost track of everyone. Until recently, I've been away from this hobby.

uh yeah... I'll get on that right away.

I need to get some parts modded and was wondering if anyone knows a watchmaker that has and knows how to use a lathe. I would like to modify an hour wheel and cannon pinion. I know a guy locally, but he is very busy and backed up and to try in three months! thanks!

Also, if you are planning on ordering online, you can always have it sent to Blaine. I have 90% of my purchases sent to Blaine. The main reason is the substantial savings in shipping and the quick delivery. The other reason is... well.... up to you.

If you do a search, you will find out all sorts of info. First off, you need to know what Rolex movement your case takes. Is it s 3035 or 3135? Your best bet would be an eta 2824-2 if your case is meant for a 3135 movement. I've used a 12.5''' eta 12892 movement. The diameter fits the rolex case, but you need a .37mm spacer between the dial and movement in order for the stem to line up with the case tube. I'm working on a Date model right now, I have everything but the dial as I'm trying to find one that is specific for what I want to build. I'm using a 12892 movement. I had to order replacement 4th wheel, cannon pinion, and hour wheel. You will need a hand fitting height of 3 or 4. I ordered fitting height 5, but I am modding the parts to accept genuine hands. Feel free to fire me a PM. -
Not that I don't want to support shopping in Canada, but you will definately save some $$$ if you purchase in the US and in a state with low tax. After you pay PST and GST, you will looking at close to $6K for the watch. And don't forget, even if you are from out of country, Mr. Harper's lame government did away with the GST rebate for tourists. I looked at a 111 in Maui and it was listed at $4400 USD with only 4% sales tax. factor in tax and exchange and you will save $700+. You can use the $700 and buy the plane ticket and have a nice vacation!

You should keep it.

Does anyone know if the steel bracelets that are listed on the site fit our reps?

just measured the crown on the 111i......interesting!

How about this for a gap? -
What doesn't fit? Stem alignment or movement diameter? Or both? If your case and movement holder are designed for 2836-2, the 2893-2 will not fit as the stem alignment is closer to the dial. You would have to have a spacer between dial and 2893-2, but then you would run into the problem with fitting the hands. You could easily change out the hour, cannon and fourth to longer fitting lengths, but I think the 2893-2 only comes in one length for the GMT hand. Have you tried fitting the 2893-2, dial, movement and spacer, from your 063 into the 2836-3 case? If it fits, then it shouldn't be a problem. If not, then I don't think it will work. Best of luck.

Not only is the number direction wrong, the quality is not very good, especially for the money. I've bought from this seller and received an unusable disc, I returned it and received a replacement that is not usuable either. The printing is very poor.
-
For what calibre? Does it have to be clean? I may have one, but the printing isn't 100% anymore as i've removed a date disc overlay and scuffed the printing. If you are just using an overlay with it, it should be fine
-
Sweet watch! Did he mod the movement so it is two position stem?
-
Damn! His prices went up. The last time I looked around Christmas, the hand set was only $199 BIN. Now they have gone up $100! Should have picked them up back then.
