my tip is dont bleach at all. use Bergeon ultrafine abrasive block 5444A. Never use sandpaper.
Mount the insert in a bezel on a watch. (Ye this will also soften the bezel teeth a little bit, if this is a problem use a separate bezel).
The bezel protects the external border (If you can create a recessed fit before starting. and the plexi protects the internal border. Put more pressure on the outer parts. Slowly. Slowly. Slowly.
When done, try adding heat with a stormlighter with circular moves. As soon as you start seeing brown tones. Stop. ThIs removes most of the shine, and makes the colors way more natural.
jackflash I would recommend trying it as I know exactly what you mean with the purple tones.
Great advice! Thanks-

Ruby’s insert is great. It does tend to turn purple-ish when bleached rather than charcoal-grey. So don’t over do it.

It wouldn't be bad if we met to have a beer together.
Thanks for the offer, appreciate it. Will have to skip it this time though. -
Are you leaving from Olbia?
Yes, we’re flying from Olbia -

Yes, just for a few days. It’s a beautiful island! But I don’t need to tell you that.
Hoping the weather will pick up again tomorrow -
Certainly in bars you can find authentic beer ...
... and thankfully in the fridge too -
Check out those fines

Just picked this up. A Timex MK1 Mechanical, a simple good looking watch competitively priced. From the Timex Archive series of watches, this is reminiscent of the “camper” from the 80s and “sprite” from the 70s.
First impressions. Quality is good. Nicely finished 36mm stainless steel case and a well printed dial. Check out the serifs on the numerals. Lume is nothing amazing, that doesn’t bother me though. I think the acrylic crystal is great, gives the watch a period charm. The 20j movement is hacking, another plus. Although at this price point it won’t be anything amazing, a Seagull perhaps. I will check accuracy and power reserve over the next few days. Strap is robust and the quick release useful. However I’ve put mine on a simpler one. So far so good!
Case: Stainless steel
Dial: Green
Dimensions: 36mm
Water Resistance: 50 meters
Movement: 20 jewel hand wound
Strap: Canvas, quick-release
