  1. Very bad dial.. not accurate at all. The seconds hand is double the size of the seconds subdial :o

But you will not have a problem with the stripping threads.. Decide what you want ;)

My suggestion? Buy the watch from a regular dealer and then buy this from Davidsen (i think it will fit normal rep cases):

Wow V! I never noticed that. I feel like an idiot. So by replacing the crown with davidsen's we should have accurate crown w/o stripping issue?

  2. After speaking with Andrew(Trusty) I went ahead and ordered the Asian movement. My watch should be here shortly and I'll post pics. Now, after reading posts, I'm a little more concerned with how the crown, bezel and logo will be.

I have the swiss, and I love it. Run's great, smooth, couldn't ask for more, but for the price, I dont see how you can go wrong with the asian. Dependable movement, same case, etc. Let us know..

  3. I have been looking into a port. chrono, as a nice classy dress watch, but like a lot of people, have been turned off by the obvious second hand running @ 6 problem of the 7750's.

Sooooo, I was just checking out IWC's site and was wondering why the heck they can't make a rep of the IWC Portuguese Automatic? It is just as classy as the Chrono, seconds running @ 9, date.... I just don't get it?

    Am I missing something here?

  4. I just bought 4th gen Om. PO from another forum member and it was short by one link. Does anyone know where I can purchase just one link, rather than the whole bracelet? I have inquired with Andrew, but he said I would have to pay $60 for the entire bracelet, even though I only need one link! Thanks

  5. Hi ,

hate to go on and on about the blasted 183 crown threads stripping BUT------- everyone seems to be impressed with the quality of Davidsens work (if not the accuracy)- do his threads strip like all the others?

What is his 183 rep blackseal like for accuracy etc?

    Cheers for replying.

I'd love to know from those who have had the watch as well. Thats always been the breaking point for me on the 183. Any help would be appreciated on it and the accuracy... :victory:

  6. I'd love to see some pics or hear from anyone who has actually purchased and received the watch. Been wanting one for a LONG time and I think it may be time to commit.....

Has anyone actually purchased a 111 or 177 since the new dial came out from Davidsen? I would love to see some pics of it and know whether or not its worth it.

  7. There can be a fix for the 7750's within 2 weeks if somebody has a good scan, actual datewheel or somone simply knows what the font is (assuming it is a standardizd font). ;)

I guess I was just confused. I was referring to the "recessed" date wheel problem on the 3-6-9 navi's, rather than the date font. Although it looks like a problem as well <_<

  8. I think that there is a possible business, to day, for a little hig quality production of replicas.

I think that exist, to day, in the world, a (little?) number of enthusiast that desire to buy hig quality replicas.

Why not produce sino-TW sellers a little collection of more important watches in good replica ? Modding is very difficult, if you are not an expert watchmaster, a great number of replica collector prefer, I think, to have "perfect" replicas out of the box. And are disponible to pay an higgest price.

My idea for Sino TW sellers: a collection of the most important steel watches of the world: sub, sub vintahe, daytona, AP crono, Nautilus, VC ecc...

What do you think about this idea?

Sigh.... <_< There are a lot of people out there that love to do there own mods. And for those of us who don't, we have The Zigmeister, finepics, etc.

But I do agree, pre-modded reps :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  9. I’m leaning toward the new Davidsen, but my question is does it have the ‘broad dagger’ swan’s neck? I can’t tell from the pic that’s listed. Also, anyone prefer Andrew’s, or Eddie’s, or Angus’ most recent 127? Price not really an issue (cause even w/ a Greg Crazy Horse I’m still at less than 5% of OEM). Aside from the really obvious things to look for like proper engraving, swan’s neck, cannon pin, dagger, the Davidsen seems to be the most accurate with regard to the AR layer, lume, and the overall fit and finish (I have noticed on some of the reps that there’s just too big a gap between the edge of the bezel and the edge of the case)…

So anyway…if the Davidsen doesn’t come with the dagger, is there someone here who has the part and can do the mod? I’ve heard awesome things about ‘Finepics’, but that dude seems really busy already…

Finally, I’ve never had a rep before and I am no watchdoctor…will I need to send it in for a day at the spa (cleaning, lube, calibration) right away, or can I wing it for a while?

    Cheers and thanks!

Upgrade your membership to "member", and check out the dealer review section for davidsen. You will be able to find out more info on his product quality.

As far as the movement goes, check out the how-to / watch repair section and you can find out EVERYTHING you need to know about each movement, including when it needs to be serviced, etc.

Lastly, use a search, cause I know there has been a lot of debate one when to service movements, you can find out a lot that way! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Regards..

  10. 1) Netherlands, so preferably sellers from within the EU

    2) Could you please tell me a bit more about the quality differences and the according price differences?

    Thanks a lot!

Precious Time (UK). Go to membership upgrade, pay the $10, check out the dealer review section (and dealer pages), ponder...... ponder a little more...... buy a rep. REPEAT. That simple! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. :D

Sorry, I just know every one of these posts degenerates into a bickering over why such and such country was missed out and how come the middle east and africa are different and why can't I put in the fact that I was born here, live here but consider myself sasquatchian.

Yea, I know. I noticed it already when I missed Canada <_< . But I was bored here at work and thought I would throw something up there quickly. Shoulda been more careful...

  12. You're asking the wrong question.

You are trying to ask "where do you live" as can be evidenced by wanting to know where we are and not what the country of our birth is. I find asking Americans where they're from gets you all sorts of answers and most of them are wrong. :D

"I'm from Scotland" - No you're not. You're from New York.

    "I'm Italian" - No you're not. You're from Chicago.

    "I'm a Zulu warrior" - No you're not. You're Oprah Winfrey.

    :whistling:

Damn, I knew I should have let my attorney review this before posting in front of Pug :bangin:

  13. So I know this may have been done before but we can do it again, because there are a lot of new members (aka myself).

I noticed today, while at work, that from about 12pm-8pm my time (East Coast USA) , there isn't a lot of action on the forums, so that got me thinking. That would mean a majority of users are from Europe, Asia, Australia, etc. Maybe??

With that being said, Where does everyone live? (thanks Pug ^_^) I just want to know what the make-up of this forum is mostly, and I wanna know where you are so i'll know a rep when I see one :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Regards..

EDIT: P.S. - Sorry if I did not include your Country/Area. I did this quickly at work..

  14. Apart from the crystal breaking inexplicably (or so she tells me), it's been Mrs Pugwash-proof. She's had it for the last three months.

Ehh, women :whistling: Pug (or anyone with knowledge) - as far as the stripping of the crown/crown tube, is that still a major issue with this watch. I had read a lot about it but that seemed to be back in Nov 2005, on the thread I was reading, but didnt know if that was still a pressing issue. Thanks.

  15. I am buying rep watches since 4 years now ..... so I have gathered some experience (even though I am still learning) regarding dealer quality.

In the early days (when I was new to this world), I was reading the "dealer Review section" and I was sending PMs to senior members to find out if this or the other dealer were good or not, scared to be scammed.

Now I have learned that the term "Good" or "Bad" dealer is a bit more complicated than in the first days.

To me the "Dealer Review" section (even though important), is not enough now. After spending something like 5,000 to 6,000 USD (20+ watches during the last 4 years), I am now more demanding on dealer's product quality, service and behaviour.

Why the Dealers Review section (even though important) is not enough to me ???

    - Senior members do not post any more in to the Dealer's review section (in my opinion they should do).

    - Reviews there are vague and based mainly on emotions rather than statistics and pure numbers.

    - Many members suffer "silently" (from defective watches or they get delivered with products different than showed/published) and they do not post a review. They just try to solve their problems silently (scared ???) via PMs and mails. We never hear about these problems.

So I ve decide to represent (via a table form) the catergories, factors and ratings that I am using to classify a dealer based on my own experience. This table helps me to decide (in most of the cases) from whom to buy and from whom not. Maybe it can help you too.

    Here it is:

Of course this table represents my way of viewing and classifying the dealers.

-You may agree with it, agree partially or disagree.

-You may use it to its extrems or just draw some general ideas.

-You may use it as it is, modify it or through it away. Its up to you.

-Don't tell me that with this I am firing or "crusading" against the dealers because it is obvious that I am not.

This table by no means represents RWG's (or other members) view.

Who knows. May be one day we can manage as a whole to have a more profesional (numbers and statistics based dealer classification) where anybody can provide input and everybody can benefit from it. That eventually will force dealer's improvement and that can only be a benefit to us.

And...... no ....I am not inspired by Pugwash :whistling:

    Happy watch hunting. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Not to be picky, but you have 2 (G)'s (in the columns). Heh.. :victory:

  16. And they're right.

Some cn 183s do indeed have sapphire. The movement has nothing to do with the case.

I have a cn 183 with a G movement and it works fine. Look at the movement to determine if it's good enough-looking for you:

    198776-2181.jpg

    198776-2182.jpg

This is a cn H movement to compare.

    198776-2183.jpg

Pug - thats right, I totally forgot you had a CN movement in your 183. It's been pretty dependable?
