  1. Damn nice piece and strap!

How easy are those rep bridges to get hold of? I've been keeping an eye out for similar bridges, movements or a whole watch head but everyone I've seen so far (for sale) has just been the horrid stick on plates with an undecorated bridge underneath.

There's more and more of these stick on things coming out and they nearly all look just daft, they're almost never aligned up properly!

  2. What's the process in uk for seized items of an individual nature?

I believe you will get a letter and it could come from one of three sources

1 A little outfit that knows the watch is a rep (after inspection) and sends a letter asking for money but they do this before talking to the watch manufacturer. They'll ask for an arbitrary amount ranging from sensible to downright stupid.

2 A letter from customs stating the watch is counterfeit, they have confiscated it on behalf of the manufacturer and it will be crushed.

3 A letter direct from the manufacturer saying its counterfeit, who did you get it from, how many have you ordered, etc, etc.

You could get letter 1 and then 3, or 2 and then 3, or 2, 1 and then 3.

The (almost) universally accepted advice is to say you know nothing about it, what watch? There's no way they can prove otherwise, so no matter what threats they may make about court, just stick to your guns.

I have read a couple of posts from people who have got their watches released from customs, but not recently, and not anyone I know.

Of course another path is they may accept the watch (or pretend they think it is) genuine and then send you an import duties bill for the duty you need to pay on the full new price of the gen version of that watch.

So for a rep of a £10k watch you could get a bill for £2500 :)

  3.

A couple of examples of my photos from 2012 World Superbikes:

So, yeah, I still take pictures.

    Bloody nice pictures.

I'm a bit of a photo nut myself and got a great set from the TT year a few years ago. Would have loved to go pro at it but there's absolutely loads of people trying to do just that and whilst you're struggling to make it, it all costs money travelling everywhere, my local circuit if Bedford Autodrome (or Rockingham) which ain't that well known for bike days!

If you ever need a second person with a couple of decent DSLRs and a slight chance of a good photo give me a shout :)

  4. Lovely watches and good info here.

Anyone got a link to a good site with a timeline of these watches, when they were built, images, explanations of the differences? (I don't wish to appear lazy but I know there's rather a lot of info out there of variable quality)

  5. And we'll need X-ray vision that works with a photograph to give you an opinion on the movement!

I'm not a Rolex guy but I doubt you'll get much useful info without decent pictures.

Proper, high res, sharp pictures of front, back, bracelet, clasp and of movement.

  6. Thanks, it's keeping time pretty well so far anyway. I have a feeling I'll be buying a better one next week though.

Do not forget it is your wrist the watch is on, your eyes that see it throughout the day, and your mind that's happy or not.

If you like it that's all that matters!

By all means ask advice on what the differences are between a $150 version and a $500 version of the same model, but don't just buy the expensive model because others say so unless you are absolutely positive you really like it. This forum has members that mostly tend towards the higher priced models and for a lot of us, the fun then comes in modding them with gen parts. The other three forums tend to go for the average priced models and don't mod them so much.

Saying that, always ask, as there's people here who may know a better model than whatever you are looking at for only a little bit more money and if that's the case it makes sense to get the better model.

  7. Sam, I think you may have missed my post above, contains links to dealers forums on here, toro and puretime.

TD = "Trusted Dealers" which means enough members have used them to know they are genuine and do their best to sort out any problems that arise, and they have gained the trust of the forum admin and have been given their own "sub forum" on here.

  8. Welcone to RWG!

If you're looking for UK or EU dealers, well as it's "naughty" to sell reps and EU laws ain't that nice, there aren't many.

There is one, but you will have to register and become a member on our "sister forum", RWG.bz. The dealers name there is Narikaa:-

    http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showforum=103

But actually buying from the rest of the dealers in China isn't that dubious really, so long as you stick to the trusted dealers and only buy one or at most two at a time.

The one I'd recommend above the others is Toro

    http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/274-torobravo/

or another one I personally like, Puretime

    http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/64-puretime-watches-international/

A third one, which is a lot smaller than Toro and Puretime, and is also good is Watch International (WI)

    http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/240-watch-international/

Run by Mary and Rochest, they're a small dealer who are happy to go the extra mile if you're looking for something special.

WI have a prescence here and on RWG.bz, and seem to post their new watches more often on RGW.bz, and they've also got a special section for economy watches on RWG.bz which I like as it's a good place to pick up cheap watches if you just want something to wear every day rather than an expensive, high quality item.

  9. aliexpress is just a vast online shopping mall for lots of Eastern and Western companies.

It is completely legit, in the same way you can say EBay is completely legit.

You must forget aliexpress (or alibaba.com) and concentrate on the dealers who use it, are they legit or not?

I've used alibaba quite a bit, just buy the person/company and then the goods. The last order was worth a few $k and after almost getting to the completion stage with one supplier, things just didn't seem right so I cut it off and ordered with a different supplier.

    Just use your common sense.

  10. What are you polishing with

    My t-shirt.

and does it leave a slight chemical protective film behind? Odds are, it does.

I very much doubt it :)

Every time I wear them, in the evening I take it off my wrist and just absent mindedly, gently polish it with whatever t-shirt I'm wearing.

Not hard, not thoroughly and it may take 6 months or so to get it shiney.

I love the un-tarnished look of bronze (and brass) and want to get back to that and maintain it that way.

I really do like these and will be keeping a close eye on the M2Ms, see if someone has bought one and unfortunately decided it's too big or too small for them, and so long as they're not taking the pee with the price, and in the UK or EU, I'll buy one. The untarnished the better :)
