If you are going to pay top price charged by Phong.. I would ask for some corrections.
1. I personally think the CG can be worked a bit more, as it's too fat currently as it sits
2. I don't like the "1665" engraving between the lugs, as it's not reminiscent of any iteration I've seen. Rolex engraving font style changed with the era... 60's, 70's and 80's. So the fonts needs to match with the serial. Phong can do better, I've seen better
3. The top gasket didn't make an appearance on the case until after 5 mil serial. so make sure the serial is after 5 mil
Here is a 5 mil serial engraving
Here is a 3 mil engraving

Don't tell me you sold the big gonzo

I like the look.
Great Job.
When you get a chance, I would get a FF insert, which would "Complete" the watch IMO- 1

Lovely Collection... my favorite being the little gonzo.

I don't know why, but the 1680 and the 1655 are the only date-Rolexes I like with a plexi cyclops. So I would go with the 127 (top hat preferabbly cause it's badass) on the 1680.
Yup but a TRUE NOS Top Hat is rare as hen's teeth....
I've never seen one for sale... ever..

T19! Personally any Rolex with a cyclops doesn't do it for me. The 1680 looks great with a T19, a kind of 1665 taken off the steroids.
Yup.. I call it my Sub-Dweller

Amazing side profile.
Love it
Miss your Red CC.... need to post that tomorrow.
Here's my white with T19

I can't seem to find a gen t19 that's in my budget, would the CWP one be around $100 and is it worth it in you're opinion ?
Thanks
I bought my Gen T19 Service Cystal for $99 from my watchmaker.
If you need one, I can ask him if he has more.

Love the opinions... keep them coming.
Here's another picture of my Sub-Dweller. -
I was going through my parts bin and found a Service Tropic 19 I bought for my 5513.
I was bored and replaced the T127 on my 1680 with the service T19.
Which do you prefer?
Service T19 on loft and T127 on the right.

A modder who says "You are too picky" is a modder you should run away from
Sorry you lost the pearl and crown... that sucks
Get the pearl, crown and tubes (7020 and 702) from Athaya: athaya.rave@yahoo.com
Get the hands from TC
Do the mod yourself. I think everything else looks great.

wow sorry your project has turned for the worst.
Had so much potential.
who is this modder by the way? Sounds like a flake to me.

Ehhh... While we are talking inserts and confusion on version, I've never been able to really pinpoint what mk mine is... Any thoughts?
Beautiful MK3. so clean
-
They are more rare which is why not many have seen them or know of them. Kissing 40 always got the mk1 tag but they are just mk3's printed with worn pads, and dbane' insert is an mk2 that was printed with a worn pad. The order is also wrong because mk2's (long 5) came first and should be called mk1
It's confusing but the way it SHOULD have gone is that we call long 5's mk1 and we call the current mk3's mk2. Then if we happen to have a "kissing 40" version of one or the other we just add that to the mk designation.. So we should be calling dbane' insert an mk1 kissing 40 simple and correct
Skinny 40 only from 63 had its own designation
"Skinny 40" .... Doesn't really need an mk associated with it imo
To be fair they had no clue back in 2012
Blind leading the blind
long 5 - mk1 (kissing and non kissing)
skinny 40 should be mk2.
mk 3 should remain mk3 (skinny, medium and kissing)
