  1. The dial got jacked up last night when I botched a re-lume job, but here's my 1016 Space Dweller. (Yes, I know that's the wrong bracelet...working on that too.)

The build started with a 16200 case, used a Clark crystal, aftermarket bezel, Gen 1560 Butterfly out of a 1401, Gen 5513 hands, and an Ingod44 dial.

I should have the new dial this weekend, and plan on re-luming the hands to match the dial.

::: Man...that's the worst pic I've taken of a watch in a long time! :::

  2. Oh, I am...trust me.

On a positive note, I was able to swap the GMT gears from one 1570 to another, so I have both my 1675s up and running now. I also completed my Space Dweller build, and re-lumed 2 sets of hands last night. (Poorly...so I'll be re-doing them, but I'm learning!)

    One of these days...

  3. I can't catch a break with this build!

Got the watch back from MD2020, and it was running like a champ. I got caught outside when it started pouring rain. (You all see where this is going, right?

Inside fogged up pretty bad, and I remembered that I never sealed the crystal in place. No problem! I'll just pull the bezel and seal it up.

I got everything PERFECT last night, and when I put the bezel back on, I realized that the Cornet got knocked loose inside the watch! DAMNIT!

Tried my damndest to put it back on properly, and the glue I used (a tiny little drop of) spiderwebbed on me, so now I have a sloppy looking cornet (it's straight though!) on the dial.

I also saw a chip on the paint that I'll need to address pretty quickly. So now I'm STILL without my 6263...that I've been working on for (what seems like) forever.

At some point, I aspire to wear this watch out in public!

  4. I've bought 3 gen 1675s in the last few weeks...all under $3,500. One was $2,600 for a head. If you shop around and are patient, you can have a killer watch for very little.

Get the worst 1675 you can find, and refinish the case. Buy a refinished or "rep" dial, if that's the piece that's bad and swap it out.

I'm the last person to preach patience...trust me...but that's paid off for me in this game a few times now. (Well, that and having cash available to strike when you have an opportunity!)

  5. I started looking at it...and quickly realized I didn't have the skills for the job.

This particular movement has been giving me fits anyway. I'm just going to list it on eBay and let it fly as-is. I should still be able to get 800-900 out of it. Or, I could send it in for service at a RSC and have a better movement.

I found a 1603 with a 1570 that I'm going to use the movement from. It also had the right Jubilee bracelet for my gen 1675. I'll do just fine after I part the rest of it out.
