  1. How does one find a Palp Crown. I need three but have had no luck contacting Palp.

thats a guud question. Not sure what the answer is...just keep an eye out I guess...sorry cant help more on that...I can tell you the palp crowns do make a HUGE improvement though...

  2. I had the same experience a few months ago, was very disappointed in the Panerai selection. I also found it weird that they had so many high end brands as well as so many cheap ass/K-Mart brands all in one store.

But on the way out of Tourneau, I noticed a little shop right across the way (like 4 or 5 shops to the left on the opposite side of Tourneau), very small shop, but they had some kewl watches. They had 3 or 4 HBB's and they also had a Big Pilot, which i tried on, and fell in love with...

I have found that the shop at the Stanford mall in Palo Alto (can

  3. Hi,

I'm new in this forum and I would like to have some info and recommendations on the following:

I own PAM 196 rep fitted with 7753 movement. It's a bulk rep with the usual faults: paltry lumination (1), wrong thin font on the datewheel (2) and a thin crown (3).

Any recommendations where/how to get the above three mentioned shortcomings corrected?

'Go buy a gen.' Yes, later on.

    :g: Thanks in advance,

    jclockwork

I had my 7753 196 modded, and it makes all the difference; Had The Zigmeister do the relume and install a Palp crown. I havent botherd with the date wheel though; one, it does not bother me; and two, anyone who could call it out as a rep due to the date wheel would be able to tell its a rep regardless.

So, find a palp crown and have The Zigmeister do the install and relume...and talk to lello if you must have a DW.

  4. Funny, I don't think I'll miss him. He seemed arrogant

    HAHA, nice first post!..................tard.

Hey Rob, have a good break.

I look forward to having you work on more of my watches in the future, I hope you never forget there are more of us here who recognize your craftsmanship and priceless contributions to this forum, then idiots who cant tell the difference.

    happy holidays.

    Neb.

  5. Are the dealers advertising these watches with swiss movements actually swiss movements?? I mean your paying the extra kit, do you get the goods? I thought I read some are still putting in asian movements in advertised swiss movement watches?

Further, other then the SFSO is the Chrono avenger any good in terms of replication and does a swiss eta version exist?

    Thanks guys!

I want to add a breitling to my Tag/Omega SMP collection

there are two versions, one with a straight out asian knock off movement, and one with the "Swiss ETA" movement.

My understanding is: There is some debate as to exactly what the "Swiss ETA" movement actualy is. some say they are surplus/used swiss ETA movements, some say they are Swiss ETA parts with the movement being assembled in Asia...everyone seems to agree they are better than the Asian knock off movement...plus you get the AR crystal with the "Swiss" version, which makes all the difference!

  6. Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone thinks there could be any potential health risks to our hobby....other than the addiction factor?

Seeing all the bad press of manufactures in china using substandard/contaminated materials in products, I was wondering if there could be any potential issues with rep manufactures using materials that are somehow contaminated and/or can lead to potential health problems?

  7. I received a IWC Cousteau last week from Angus, problem is the strap is too small (see pic below). I went into a AD to try and order a XL strap ($200) the sales guy asked me for the serial number of the watch, I asked why he needed it and he said he needed it to make sure he ordered the right strap...I didn

  8. Hm.... I love your Inge !!

the Ingy is very nice. Moded (Lume & Ceiftang dOuble AR) and serviced by The Zigmeister. I had it for sale awhile back, but the deal went bad and I have decided to hold onto it for now. eversince i got it I have been pondering selling it, I dont feel it looks so good on my wrist, but every time i look at it I am amazed at how good it looks. The fit finish on the Ingy out of the bow was the best I have scene on a rep...until now, this Cousteau is amazing!

  9. Just got my Cousteau from Angus, looks like it is one from this new batch...no issues. Awsome watch!

@manus, The Zigmeister is in Canada, not USA...and it is worth the "pain in the ass tax" to send it to him, his work is the best!

@Usil, the turning mechanism on the one i got from Angus seems pretty smooth (never handled the gen to compaire though) the inner bezel dosent seem to quite line up though....
