  1. Hey all,

I have noticed lately that some of the watches with bezel pearls have a small clear “plastic disk” that covers the lume underneath. I have scene this on my Brietling SFSO, Ultimate PO and PAM 243. i think it is kind of ugly/distracting.

Do the gens have this? what is that for? Is it just to protect the lume? Will the lume fall out or get wet or something without it? Should it be left in or removed?

If anyone knows, please let me know.

    Thanx in advance.

  2. -please be sure to tighten the two crowngaurd screws before sending the watch back- if this is not the case send me a pm and i'll help.

yeah, what he said...i have received a couple PAMS's with loose CD lever, tightening the two screws on the CG fixed the problem both times.

...oh, and as has been said, the crown does not screw down, it is the job of the CG lever to keep it securly in place.

  3. Have one in house right now, for a transplant to an ETA engine, and relume...the question is going to be, can I relume the bezel area from 12-3...we'll have to wait and see.

I dont' expect to get to it for a while.

oooh, very interested in if you can lume it! I saw Vacume saying he didnt think it could be done by hand...but if anyone can do it, I am sure you can! look forward to pics.

  4. Hey The Zigmeister,

Thanx for the info, I have kicked the idea of getting a HBB for a bit, but I am defenitly not getting one now.

Have you had any Cousteaus's to work on yet? how is their build quality? I am thinking of getting one, would love to get some input from the master! ;)

  5. you must have some really big wrists.....have you had someone measure the costeau strap for you to see if it would fit? i feel like it would be pretty big on the last hole on the strap.....

    deltatahoe

yeah, i have a 9" wrist, so all my straps are custom sized... its a pain!

  6. ....if you'll look closely, the case at the lugs is basically the inverse of the ingy -- lugs on the outside (more traditional) as opposed to the 'block' in the middle with strap on the outside....

    deltatahoe

Oh yeah Huh,....Duh, I totaly missed that.....

Thats a bummer, no way to put on a different/bigger strap.... :(

I went to my local AD, the larger strap is $200...but they dont seem to know the dimensions of the strap...any one have any ideas how i could find that out?

  7. Hi dear all, I have come across PAM111H and PAM111G in this site. May I know exactly how many versions of PAM111 are there? And what's their difference? And which is so far a better replica? Thanks.

By the way any Panerai fans from Singapore in this forum?

A simple search would answer all your questions, but since I am bored....the 111H has a sandwich dial, and the 111G has a sausage dial. they both have the same movement, but with different decorated bridges.

Oops missed out one question. Is it true only those with sandwich dials then can play with the luminosity so that it can be made to be more intense like using C3 etc whereas the rest of the models its not possible to do so?

Just about any dial can be relumed.

  8. hello all

Can anyone tell me where I would find a sapphire replacement crystal that does not have AR for an IWC 3717 pilot? I would also need a part number or a more detailed description for ordering. What I want to do involves a watch I have yet to receive. This is all in preparation for mods that will be done later this summer. I would actually like to go ahead and purchase an extra crystal without AR. My plan was to put it through with Chieftang's next run. I don't have the watch so I can't just pop off the crystal and measure it. If anyone knows the size and parts number for this crystal I would be grateful. IWC 3717 pilot.

    Best regards, vlydog

    Errrr....am I missing something?

All you have to do is remove the crystal, clean off the AR (Cheiftang wrote up a "How To" for this) and than send it to Cheiftang to be AR coated...saves you money and time/headache/aggravation looking for a new crystal.

  9. FYI - I packed up the crystals from run 3 this evening and should have them shipped back to everyone tomorrow.

Flav will most likely post pics of the crystals he is reinstalling for some of the members in run 3 later this week.

    -Chief

Hey Chief, I was wondering what the status is on the single sided run?

    thanx

  10. I know that some members were looking into PVD coating companies who are willing to work on watches...Does anyone have any new information?

The prices at IWW have shot up to an astronomical $595 minimum.

Does anyone know anything about the Teflon Polymer coating service offered by bobthayerjr.com? It looks like it might be a little too soft, and a little too shiny...

    Thanks for any info.

A simple search would magically reveal there are a couple members offering PVD service; RBJ, Palp, and i think finepics.

  11. I can assure you that blue rep version look greyish as well. It all depends what angle you're photographing the watch from... it's the AR that creates the grey appearance.

I have the blue dial version as well, it is a amazing rep, and have compaired it to the gen at my local AD, there is a difference in the color of the dial. its not a huge difference, but there is a difference.

....although it was the previous model blue dial SF that I looked at, so I supose its possible they changed the color of the dial for the current model...but I think only the bracelet was changed...
