Period." No noobie to the game, CY has "been getting reps from our forum dealers for over 5 years." That's a lot of years and certainly many watches, but CY's enthusiasm is as fresh as on the first day - especially when he can trump a tool with a real Breit by wearing his "old case 196 Pam on Rubber w/deploy" over lunch with the girls in the City of Angels. Five years on the scene and probably nearly as many as a loyal reader of RWG: CY0811, it's high time that you got your 15 minutes of fame on the forum. Let's hope it won't be too difficult for you to C Y ?
  2. except when you can find a bunch of suckers to pay for it....
  3. Defacto Joined: 12-September 06 Profile Views: 9* Last Seen: Today, 01:27 AM Viewing Topic: Iwc Big Pilot 8 posts (0 per day) My apologies to the numerous other candidates, but hey, when a guy only posts eight times a year, he's rarer than Moby [censored: name for male sex organ, beginning with 'D'] - and more difficult to harpoon! A playful guy, Defacto, with a keen sense of fun - as evidenced by his latest post on the forum in the form of an entertaining little game: "Guess the Gen"! As Defacto explains it, "The title is pretty self-explanatory...take a pic of the back of one of your Gens, post said pic, and everyone should make a guess as to what said watch is...when the posted Gen has been guessed, I'll post up another one in my collection." Must be one heck of a collection, since Defacto starts the game out with, "Here's my 1st contribution, my VC "????????????????" Nice pitch, Defacto...we'd love to see your 2nd contribution, so don't keep us waiting long!
  4. FasTTaP Joined: 17-March 06 Profile Views: 35* Last Seen: Yesterday, 11:19 PM 355 posts (1 per day) How not to include our Gallic friend FasTT, an RWG member who's been serving up posts (and buying up reps) like crepes since March 2006. Today, FasTT's existential dilemma du jour can be summed up as, "I've got this 7750 pre daytona, the gen is supposed to host a Valjoux cal. 72 and I could'nt find the following info : is this an automatic or a manual movement??? Darned if I know, FasTT! But it sure looks like it ain't something they taught you in that super-elite French university you graduated from, n'est-ce pas? Coming Up: To Be Announced
  5. bruce79 Joined: 17-March 06 Profile Views: 42* Last Seen: Today, 04:54 PM An RWG regular, bruce79 contributes a respectable average of one post per day to the forum, on subjects as diverse as "Recommendations on top grade gator straps" to "Looking for a nice quality watch box." A socialable SoCal dude, bruce79 is always ready to hook up with other RWG members in the area for a drink a bite to eat and, of course, an enjoyable RWG-style rep watch Show & Tell! Hyster Joined: 30-July 06 Profile Views: 17* Last Seen: Today, 12:08 AM Viewing Forum: Watches A warm RWG welcome to Hyster! The shy type, Hyster has contributed less than one post per day since joining us in July, 2006. Hyster "bought a Seawolf from King a while ago" but "when it arrived it had an unfinished pearl." Not one to give up, our resourceful member "bought a gen dial on ebay and contacted Finepics to see if he would do the job." Good move, Hyster, and hang in there - we're all hoping you'll get the Seawolf of your dreams! Steve G Joined: 1-April 06 Profile Views: 79* Last Seen: Today, 12:27 AM 415 posts (1 per day) A heavy and faithful hitter from good old New Joisey, our friend Steve G (any relation to Kenny? ) has been lobbing a post a day to the RWG outfield since April, 2006! When not "searching for a source to do AR coating", Steve leaves no rock unturned in his quest for "the VCO dial that has the larger more correct cross." With imperatives like that, it's a wonder that Steve has time to log into RWG... but we're glad he does, and we'll continue following his precious contributions with all the interest they merit! More to come...
  6. No one pays attention to this thread anymore....they've all sold it short.
  7. "It is very unwise to ask for directions in a Chinese restaurant."
  8. I still think it's the gesture that counts more than the actual amount - especially if you've already upgraded - and even if you haven't!
  9. Yes, in re-reading Administration's first post, I saw that (having forgotten in the first place). But I believe that the instructions* are still valid - meaning that there's no need to PM a Mod for the address.... *"This time you can either chose to support RWG via a donation or upgrade your membership to a VIP membership. Because of the recent paypal-problems, I will not share the address where you can donate in public. Just send me an empty e-mail at give@rwg.cc and you will instantly get all the details you need. VIP members can use the link presented below, only visible to VIP members."
  10. This seems to be the way, as per Admin's. first post in this thread: "This time you can either chose to support RWG via a donation or upgrade your membership to a VIP membership. 11. For members who have yet to upgrade, this seems to be the way, a per the Admin's first post in this thread: "This time you can either chose to support RWG via a donation or upgrade your membership to a VIP membership. 12. I can handle the fact that some people find themselves in difficult financial situations, or that donations are against their religion - or whatever - but when I see that month-in and month-out the majority of the members here never upgrade, I get a bit upset. And when Admin. runs out of money and makes these rather polite requests for upgrades, donations of any amount - spare change, really - and a few good souls respond while literally hundreds avert their eyes (but nevertheless post questions as to 'who has the best'..., along with pics of their latest acquisitions and/or sob stories and complaints about dealers, customs, items lost in transit, or things like 'I'm brain-dead: tell me what I should buy next') their studied indifference to the financial health of the forum really starts getting on my nerves. I'm sure I'm not the only one - as your response shows, and while we've already discussed this problem at length the last time there was a call for some financial support, the basic situation still hasn't changed. The example at hand: 'The following members have visited today'. How many have either upgraded or even donated a little? 12BGT350, 325BMW, 4fun, 777, 944black, aaa, ab2450, acidzerocool, addingwatch, afiartis, Alan_Schezar, AlexLeGrande, alfredo, AllergyDoc, amish, amo, andreww, anon130, aoikaze80, AP Pete, arminvanbuuren, arn555, asands, atfotraf, avitt, axa, bakescakes, bbrenner, beanbopdudemomgophers10226, Bearcat, Bell&Ross, BellAir, bigdaddyo, Bigdoggy, bigheadgenius, Bigman99, BigNickD, BIGPOCKETS, billt, blanch, blh96, blkandgold, blue2, BOB, BobGauchey, bodhy, boomer, Breitling, bremerk2, budda, budfox, By-Tor, capt_cope, Carl, chromepaxos, chrono903, ck986, cypher, d0m1n10n, dabbler12, dadog13, Dani, darkside7, dastrix, david-aussie, davidbir, davidsenjpn, davidsjg, daystar_70, ddesj74, Deacon, deaconx, deepsea, Devedander, dilinger, Dilliam, dkcambel, dlanzer, dr.alistair, drspine, Dukie, dwang0725, DWSmoot, eastonly, emuozz, enjoinick, Erwin, evildee, ExplorerII, f5mando, fastalker, FasTTaP, fauxpas, fendushi, Feta1, fitipaldi, frankpower88, french, frogfalls, gamer3000, gargoil, Gavilan, Gene02, georgegrasser, Gil, gliptopolis, gman, gmtmaster, Gobrian, gogolos, Golfer, Grippm, grw1, gs430, guanaco, hanslin31, hansolo, hava, he46570, heavyarms, hendrixelixir, Hi-Standard, HikeUSA, horologie_unitas, iglutikut, ikonosin, iluvspl, infinitime, insguy, interested1956, Ishann, ispolef, istretch, its_urabus, jack, James Amazing, jbarizona, jcnunez, jdavis, jdub765, jeffrey alan, JessieJ, jiro, jj69, jkarpas, jkmossington, jkpadget2, jkwhyd, jmt, Joey, Jonathan, joonwkim, Jos Nana, JTaz, juanstar, junkyninja, Justasgood, Justboughtfake, k2222, Kaidoy, kalakas15, kazushi, kevin1, Keyhole, kokoko, kp682, kranium, kye_lin, kylet, laahollywood, lacklusterplus, LarryM, ldewarren, lloyd95, lls, lnoblesus, Logan, lool, lts11, lysis, m/bikertom, m52726, madeleine, magick1, MajorBobL, Marin, Mark, Mark Eleven, Mark Phelps, Marrickvilleboy, martinb, masan, Mason, mbpa, metronman, mezzanine, mgardner48, Mikep, mikeydigs, milwaukee, mkultra, mojo2001, mortledge, Mo_till, Mr Jones, MrC, mudfish, neks0ne, ngdenny, nikov, nimbusbrew, NiTrO, notto, object07, oBMTo, oki, OldeCrow, oldkid, olivia, onj, P4GTR, PACK, palhaco02, pam112, pampam, pam_pattaya, Panama, Panerai Guy!, pantomimehorse, parabol, paulV, pbe2410, Perpetual Oyster, pitbos, pitimany, PlastiqueOne, plato986, porschespeedster, predfan2001, premiumdesigners, prof, promotersf, qristoffer, qwert750, r2d4, ra-man1234, rafib, raguse, Ranger25, rare1, ravant, ray0244, reachie, red.dog, REPPIN, reprep, rhes4, river, rjboxster, Rob1, Roland, RolexBoy, rolexsandwich, rosnik, rs3rs, rx4mike, rxgremlin, Ryan, Saabin, Samuel M., sarzi, sayiiimd, sc.net, schlitzie2, Scott Earle, scottat, se7en, Seadweller4000, Sean Hawkins, shadowteam, Shundi, shura110, Shuvi, SilverSurfer, skcheng, smalldogfrenzy, sn8kman, Snrubb, solidrax, southcoast68, sox123, spectro, spooky driver, spookycord, squeaker, Steve G, stilty, STINGRAY, stutzer, sub1, swartoo, sweet, swemoose, TeeJay, Tennesseehorn, The Mentalist, the playful eyes, The Red Baron, thedudeabides, TheDukeZip, thelawnmowerman, TheLightRoom, thewightstuff, thinh, TJGladeRaider, tkersting, TmeShare, tntwrx, tommyn29, TomRiddle, tonibari, tradr, trektagger, Tribal, trillian, Triodus, Troy47, trustywatchguy, tshoot, turboGUATE, turtlemd, tutima, twg7722, twicebaked, twobztwop, Typhoon, varock, vinhle37, Virgil Hilts, waltercarl, wannab, warbody, Watchnut, werflga, wiggles, Winston_Wolf, wombat247, Woody, World Traveller, wtchlvr, x2crazy4shadyx, yt74, zbrrt, zenpang, millerk310 Is it too much to expect that the majority of these guys could be capable of scraping up a few dollars to donate, even if they don't upgrade their membership? Perhaps some of them have actually donated thousands of dollars in the past, perhaps others are single-handedly supporting ten kids, a wife with a crack habit and all their in-laws, and perhaps still others can't understand English, but I'm willing to bet that the overwhelming majority are just riding along without giving much thought of completing the circle and giving something back.
  13. so at the risk of being inelegant, how do we 'motivate' the tons of hangers-on who've been profiting from the forum without ever contributing a penny to keeping it up? Maybe I'm too impatient, but really, I've seen this happen too many times...same old, same old - except that I'm just about ready to start getting really obnoxious about it. Not hard for me at all.
  14. Link is visible. I'll contribute.
  15. Why Joshua (perfect clones) and Andrew (trusty time) are bad for rep collectors: A new thread for TeeJay and Slay to elaborate on their signatures... WOOT!
  16. woot!
  17. Any thread that elicits comments by Nanuq FasTT, rAndy and Pug can't be all bad... Personally, I thought it was pretty interesting, and as what Slay might mistakenly qualify as a Repuke neocon (whatever that is), I wasn't the least bit offended. I mean, after all this time, who could be offended by Slay anyway? You'd have to be even crazier than he is...
  18. Chuck Norris? No wait a minute...can't be: no one has ever succeeded in drawing blood from him.
  19. Crikey, the part I wrote about the phallus/flashlight....I never thought of it that way before... but it's so obvious now...this explains everything that was to follow (and much of went before).... I believe I'm having a breakthrough Thank you, Dr. Barrett! Thank you!! p.s.: do you have a tip jar?
  20. Up to the present, only with certain women. Edit: And in particular, the two I married.
  21. Um, Slay? No...never mind.
  22. This has the makings of an excellent term-paper, Miss Barrett. But there are one or two points that I'd like to comment on: For sure, but I've gotten used to it. Wrong on all counts as pertains to me. I don't really don't give a flying (censored word for copulation) about any of that: for me, it's just the very infantile pleasure of having something that I consider really neat. Like the Lone Ranger combination compass, flashlight and siren that I had when I was eight or nine years old, and that was stolen from me at summer camp. Never got over it. One should never underestimate the power of childhood memories: e.g., 'Citizen Kane'. Conclusion: B+ as it stands, and possibly an A with a little polishing and further reflection. Know that there is more to this world than psychology can ever fathom. Was it you who said that Freud was specific to a time and place? Peu importe. We've all moved on from there, and if nothing else, the twentieth century should have taught us to be cautious about men bearing gifts which offer universal explanations and solutions. Even if there are broad empirical categories, I believe that there is no Unified Field Theory concerning human behavoir. Thank God. But I digress. Keep up the good work - and keep the faith.
  23. Cherry-picking, Slay. Cherry-picking.
  24. I think anywhere is also a good place to start... The effect of a considered and responsible action where it's least expected is incalculable. Aside from that, pretty much agree with you, Nanuq.
  25. Don't keep us in the dark! Which one is you, Slay?
