Just getting into collecting watches. I currently have Citizen, Seiko, Fossil, Alpha, & Timex watches. Now I'm looking to expand my collection into some reps.

  1. Don't you think Uncle Ron might be upset that Jason is selling the watch?
  2. Yeah, it's amazing how much we hope that other people will notice our watches. I wear a different watch each day of the week and I don't think anyone notices. Oh well. Hopefully the hot Parisian chicks notice for you!

That is a sweet watch. The green NATO strap really matches the military look of that watch. Wear it well.
  4. Wrist shot as requested...
  5. Here is a quick shot of the 16610 I just received from Trustytime. Shipped from China to US (east coast) in 4 days. Isn't the global economy great? Supposedly has a ETA 2824-2, but I'm not sure. It's keeping perfect time though.
  6. I've only used Andrew for my rep purchases. I have been very happy with his service and prices.
  7. I'm not sure where my interest in watches comes from. Certainly not my family. No one in my family has ever owned anything nicer than a Seiko or would ever care to. Where I see watches as these amazing little machines that are worthy of hours of my attention; others in my family simply view them as a way to tell time.
  8. Item number: 180200106768 That first picture just screams fake to me. Look at the pearl, not to mention the date magnification. Then, notice the picture at the very bottom of the auction and compare it to the first pic. It obviously two different watches. Very strange. Hopefully no one will really pay $12.5k for it. Should I contact Ebay?
  9. It's the $108 Asian sub from Trusty. Sorry if 'Noobmariner' isn't the appropriate name.
  10. While attempting to adjust the date on my Noobmariner, the crown completely unscrewed itself from the watch. I was able to thread the crown back on, but when I turn the crown counter-clockwise, it comes keeps coming unscrewed. I tried using some super glue, which kept the crown from coming undone, but I still can't adjust the date on my watch. It feels like the stem isn't catching on the datewheel. What the heck should I do here? Can it be repaired? Should I toss it? Thanks for your help!
  11. Well, after a great one-year relationship, my noobmariner (from Andrew) and I are having problems. Today, while attempting to adjust the date from the 30th to the 1st, I noticed that the date would not change. Hmmm. So, I decided to just adjust the time until the date switched over. I thought I had fixed the problem. Then, a few moments ago, I attempted to adjust the time and the entire crown came off the watch. Great. I was able to screw the crown back in, but now I can't adjust the time or the date. So fellow RWG members, what should I do? This was my first rep, so I'm not sure what to do from here. Do I junk the watch? Is is fixable? Should I get an ETA next time? Any help is appreciated.
  12. I'm no expert on vintage Rollies, but I think it looks pretty good. I certainly don't think any "normal" person would question it. However, I think the aging of the bezel, relative to the aging of the face it quite contrasting. Would a true vintage have such a difference in the coloration of the bezel to the face?
  13. In terms of quality and function, I'm sure the Seiko is an amazing watch. However, if I suddenly had $5000 to spend on a watch, I can assure you that a Seiko would not be on my list. Then again, I'm not someone who would normally spend that kind of money on a timepiece (hence my membership here.) With that said, I'm sure there are high-end buyers who are more drawn to the technology of the spring-drive, rather than the name on the dial.
  14. Agreed. Although, since she'd be paying for it with what is technically, 'my' money, I guess it's easy for her to make such promises.
  15. Of course, there were no hard feelings and the wife and I had a good laugh over it. Great point about saving money though, I might have to work that angle and get myself another watch!
