Noobfactory GMT-master II 16710 as base model (most sellers carry them). GEN ETA 2836-2 with GMT ICS module. GEN twinlock 6mm crown. After market tube from Ofrei. After market insert from luxurydeals8 at ebay. All mods done by me, it is true that cg's are oversanded because of a really bad mod job done before (I've done my best to fix it). I`ve just finished to mod my "Noob factory" 16710, I hope you like it:

Don't use this watch as starting point, it's based on a 1665 case, completely innacurate for a 5513/5517 project. Milsub needs several mods, so it's not a low budget project. A 5513/1680 MBW case it's better than the one you pointed at. Tritium on vintage Rolex watches is dead, so they're no lume at all, otherwise the aged tritium look is one of the most important things on these watches.

MBK's dial is better than CN one (DATE on dial, bad lume dots) but lume on MBW dials does not have the look of vintage tritium like:

MBW 1675 dial's diameter is 28.45mm, with ETA feet. Overall quality is quite worse than the others you've mentioned.

If you're looking for a white dial watch, go for the Explorer II. Nice review Stephane, as usual.

Yuki's dials (great looking vintage tritium like) are far away better than MBW ones. If you don't mind about money, go for NDT as well.

Really a pleasure receiving these replies from the moders I've been admiring last past 3 years. Here the specs: Modified MBW case (drilled lug holes, trimmed crown guards, sanded edges...) and hollow mid links 93150 bracelet with CL1 clasp from Eurotimez. Tropic 19 plexi and tube from Clark. Gen crown. PMWF's insert lightly bleached. Yuki's pearl, hands and matt dial. WSO's 580 endlinks. Cousinsuk's aftermarket 2mm springbars. Low beat 2846 ETA GEN movement, 2 position crown mod, dismantled date and day gears and hack mechanism added. And some more pics:

Completely agree. Gen crown and tube are really a big improvement, but you'll need some epoxy to fix it. Send crystal to chief for a dobule AR, fix crown ant tube too, and you'll have a really decent UPO at a reasonable prize.

Nickel movement is really really nice, but there are many evident flaws on silix's GMTII: horrible conical case rehaut date window too big mag on crystal far to the right GMT hand not so accurate not perfect CGs... IMHO the best way regarding GMTII is to contact bklm1234, he offers GMTII "noob version" from $300 to $400 range with great case rehaut with some custom mods (trimmed CG's, improved bezel and inserts...). Otherwise, Trustytime & Perfectclones's GMTII "retro edition" looks nice too. Link posted drives you to chinese cheap movements like the one in the *bay (without GMT module). Miyota ones are there: http://www.ofrei.com/page625.html#19232 http://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/4/158/1942.aspx (search for a 8205) The job is to replace daywheel and gears in the original movement for the gears and plate on top of your damaged movement (where fits the GMT 4th hand). I really don't know if that is an easy swap or you'll need some hard work on the main plate of the movement to fit GMT module screws... where is The Zigmeister to help us???

I think it's a cheap chinese movement (japan miyota 8205 copy) with a GMT adjustable hand instead a day dial. I got one on the *Bay from seller seiko-pro; just search GMT Automatic Movement at $14.99. A miyota 8205 movement is a best quality option (available from cousinsuk.com) but you'll need some custom work fitting GMT 4th hand module on it.

I have a similar problem too. PO ultimate just received TODAY, looks gorgeous and runs smooth; I did unscrew the crown to position 2 for setting date, them to position 3 for setting time... after doing that 3 times, I was unable to rescrew crown guard to original position, it seems the screw of crown was broken off... I'm considering to get a new original crown guard and case tube from otto frei, anyone can help me just saying if mod is possible and what are the appropiate crown and case tube? Maybe next ones?
