Nice works n sharing.
Is it acetone that ladies use it to remove their nail polish or nail colors?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's a creamy polishing compound that is very mild... It can be used on plastic, metals, even played surfaces like chromed details.
Results look like this:
Skickat från min iPhone med TapatalkYou can even create fading effects like extra ghostly on the outer diameter. I recommend using it while fastened in the bezel, to avoid creating artificially looking "white outer borders".

NO acetone, NO strong solvents....

Looks great.. Awesome work. My tip for ghosting inserts is autosol and cotton-tipped "women's makeup thingies, can't find the correct word right now". It takes ages.. And since it takes ages it much much easier to get an even hue.
P.S. I vote for the brown Slay. Looks most overall matched.

Since it says 904L it's a v9. It's very hard to see a difference on steel type from photos...
V8 is 316L.
v8s is new to me, wasn't aware there was a v8s.

It's a bit hard to understand a) which parts you have,
which you are thinking of buying and c) which are possible options to
.
Do you have a 160xx case or MIDcase or do you have a 162xx?
Because the 160xx never had rehaut engravings..
Also they had different movements, with different stem heights etc.
1) Use more words
2) Use more pictures

You have the answer above...
Contact Ruby @ Rubyswatch.com
Get a custom case (1680) but with a narrower dial opening. Solved.

You could also special order a 1680 case from e.g. Ruby but specify that you want a narrower (26mm) dial opening.
Also.. 1680 subs used 1575 movements (marked 1570).

Dear RWG,
it's been a while since I posted here but I am tempted to have a go at a build these days. I have at my disposal a decent cal. 1530 from a non-chronometer Air King, early 60s.
Would it be feasible for some of the last non-chrono 1530s to end up in early 5513's?
Ruby is selling a 5513 vietnam case stamped III.64, which might just make the cut for realistically housing a 1530.
If this sounds like a reasonable proposition, I was intending to add
- gen SL Service Dial (these seem to be obtainable some cracked, some not)
- gen SL Service Hands
- gen SL Service Insert
Which crown and stem would be appropriate for this build? Is a gen tropic a "must"?
Nowadays, is there a reliable EU modder on this board who could do some case work and assemble everything?
Sorry for all the questions, if this is a feasible build and people have some parts they'd like to sell, please get in touch.
Thanks!
drury
P.S. Using a 1530 over a 1520 is a very wise choice. 1530 is the best 15XX movement there is. 1520 was actually a simplified/cheaper 1530.

Search.. There are a lot of build logs/threads about your exact questions.

Well done!
Impressive results considering the starting material so to speak.

@hologramet I know it's frustrating losing something valuable like that. I've lost the pieces to a very nice Red Sub build and an extremely rare extremely early Sub build this year. They went to a top notch builder that has quit replying to me.
Yes it sucks. Yes I hate it. I'm sure you do too. But you still have everything you need sans that movement.
My advice is to keep going. You're emotionally invested in it and you can't put a price tag on that. I think it will mean a lot for you to press on and finish this.@Nanuq Who? PM me if you don't want it in the open..

How much did what make in the end? I built a Panda-Daytona, just like I wanted it. It cost me about 12-14k USD less than buying a new one on Chrono24.
I didn't make shiet. It makes me happy though. Stop asking stupid questions. Read first. This is a build log not an advertisement. Period.

Thirded. I was really looking forward to seeing this one done. Go ETA for now if you have to. It sounds like you may get a refund in time?
Hmmm...
You guys have kind of convinced me. However can't go ETA. Will have to cut dial feet and broach/crimp hands.
Updating with a recent pic..
