  1. Thanks all...any other recommendations much appreciated
  2. I am itching to get a Sead Dweller and want to see the latest 126600 when/if NOOB produce one. As this is larger than the current models (43mm) I assume that it will take some work, as they can reuse existing parts from their stock. Anyone have any ideas on NOOBS 126600 production? Have they even confirmed that they will produce it? Assuming that they do, I hope that it is of the quality of their latest Subs and SDs - which are excellent out of the box. Just imagine if they came with SH/Yuki 3135!! Hope they do this soon!
  3. Hi all I am a relative newcomer (been around for a couple of years) and have bought from M2M and from a TD. I am now looking at buying a Sub or SD and am tempted to purchase from BK (NOOB best editions with 2386.2) - but am in mixed minds. Buying from BK minimises the changes of there being misalignments and visible flaws with the production...and BK charges a premium for his service. This is justified, as he also has a Swiss ETA in the watch (although some TD's also claim this). I've seen many examples now on various forums with wonky pearls, off centred markings, clasps which open up etc. We all know that TD's source their watches from a same factories...and I know I want a NOOB best edition piece with a particular movement - and they all charge similar prices and are generally all good to deal with, which is why the they have earned the 'T'. So, how do we differentiate between them and chose which to deal with. In my opinion, their role isn't just to and pick up your watch from the factory and take some QC's for you. A massive part of their service SHOULD be to CHECK the watch over for you...they are your hands, eyes and ears at the factory/source and should treat the watch as if they were buying for themselves. We all know that factories will sell everything that they produce, even if they acknowledge some watches are finished better than others. If I were a TD and my job and reputation relied on me sourcing and supplying quality pieces for my clients, I would be taking a magnifying glass/lupe with me to collect every sample. I'd be examining the watch in fine detail to make sure that everything is aligned, the clasp is locking, there are no rattles, the functions work, the bezel sounds correct etc, etc. They should be doing 99% of the QC for their buyer, as looking at photos is never perfect due to camera angles etc. This is what should earn them their money. The photo's would be a formality only and return rates would be much lower due to an extra 10 minutes spent on examining. THIS is what makes a good TD in my opinion...not supplying me the watch which I could have ordered from any of the TD's. BK watches are great and worth the money, just for peace of mind. However, if TD's took as much care in checking alignments and basic's as BK does, then that would really enhance their role and make them different from the rest. I would gladly pay 10% more for a watch if TD conducts all the checks which I would do based on my research on this forum. If anything, they should know even better the issues to look for. Is there any TD who carries out real QC for their clients (other than BK)? I'm only referring to fresh out of the factory QC checks to make sure that we get what is advertised. Sorry for going on and on
  4. Thank you Freddy333 for your detailed response. I will have a try and if I get too nervous, I'll try to find a friendly watch repairer who can do this for me locally. Thanks again
  5. that's a same...so looks like I'll need to get the watch opened up and the coronet stuck back on to the existing dial - which I like anyway, so not an issue. I will reattach using cement (as advised). My issues is how to I gain access to the dial? I need to remove the bezel and then the dome crystal (in that order)? How do I do this without damaging it? Hoping someone has done this themselves and can guide me. I'm happy to pay to have this done (if cost is reasonable). Does anyone know of any watch repairers in London who would do this?
  6. Thanks Powermax. I used the link as an example of what the watch looked like - I think mine is actually a better example and I bought it from Rochest at WatchInternational. It is actually this one: http://www.noobwatch.com/replica-rolex-daytona-vintage-6263-silver-dial-mens-watch/ The crystal is domed on this watch. So should I remove the Bezel first and then Crystal? Do I need any special tools to do this work? I am tempted to replace the dial with a more authentic one (with correct lettering etc) from Yuki. http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/9027239/10282041.htm Has done this before? If I'm going to open the watch etc, I might as well replace the dial with a better example? I absolutely love this watch and wear it daily...it pretty much goes with everything and anything
  7. Thanks. Is there any tutorial available on how to do this?
  8. Hello all I bought a replica Daytona a year ago and am very pleased with its appearance, although I appreciate it's not perfect. Similar watch: http://www.torobravos.xyz/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=6263&product_id=1048 Last week the rolex coronet fell off the dial and I'd like to place it back in...what is the best method? Should I remove the crystal or the movement? Is it something I can do or do I need to send it somewhere? Being a rep it may be difficult to find a shop willing to do the work. if it's a costly repair I may consider changing the dial to a yuki dial...does anyone know if it's compatible? many thanks
  9. Thanks for the reference lhooq. They look interesting, but probably not enough to sway me into purchasing one. A vintage gen watch is likely to be a decent investment, so I would actually guy a gen example (at the right price of course). I noticed that yours has a black datewheel (with white numbers) - is this a deliberate mod or did they make some like this?
  10. Wow - what a stunning piece.I absolutely love it!! I'm guessing that there are no reps available for these vintage Heuer watches? I really like this one too: https://heuerville.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/heuer-1614-chonograph-french-made/ The originals are rarely available for sale and if they are, they are expensive. Any reps around?
  11. If I'm unable to get the strap I want in 19mm...is it better to go for an 18 or 20mm?
  12. Hello all I really like the Tropic diver straps on the vintage Daytonas - especially with the curved ends. I was shocked to see how much these are selling for...around $150 and more. Are there any reps or very similar alternatives available? Thanks Kiran
  13. FWY - I want something similar to this: http://bulangandsons.com/portfolio_page/curated-cosmograph-daytona-6263/
  14. Hello All I've just ordered a 6263 rep from a RD, but now want to order some straps also. Would really appreciate if I could get some guidance on the strap widths. I wanted a Rolex buckle - which would needs a 16mm stap. Is the watch side 19mm? Thanks K12AN
  15. Thanks. Wonder if the Noob and JF factories actually make the staps too? Possible they are supplied by another factory/s. I'll ask my TD.
  16. Hello all and OP Do you know if these straps are interchangeable? I.e. Would the noob one fit onto the JF and vice versa? Reason I ask is because I'd like to put a an AP rubber diver strap on a JF watch...if it's a noob strap it might not fit. If the TD can't confirm its a JF strap should I cancel? Regards K12AN
  17. Looks good to me...but others will know better. Congratulations
  18. To be honest, I've had real difficult in finding people to service reps. My first rep was a Hublot BB (V1.5 I think) - which I bought from M2M for very cheap. It was 2007 made - so literally stopped working around a month ago. I could actually see a screw which was free and rolling around through the caseback. As I paid so little for it - and there was now a more accurate version available, I was not preparted to pay around £200 to service/repair it. I only had the one rep - so I know new that I love wearing the watch and was prepared to spend some money to buy a newer version for only a little bit more. I opened up the case myself and inevitably the watch is no longer working and it has been written off - lesson learned So, I now want to buy an AP. These are more expensive, and I want to have it serviced to make sure that the movement is as good as it can be. I really struggled to get a list of reliable and trustworthy servicers in Europe. From what I've heard, they take weeks (or months) to return watches? Would love some contacts if you could list please...for future reference. If this could be done at the source of buying it - it would be much easier and better for me. How much is a service of a 7750 movement here (approx).
  19. Thanks Nightwatch - this is taken from Trusty site (I assume others can get similar services). Surely there would be proof that this 'service' was actually undertaken. I'd hope for at least some before, during and after photos.. If this were the case, I'd definitely be adding this to my purchases! Scope of work done Waterproofing : Additional seals are add on and watch is pressure tested to 5 bars (50m waterproofing) Movement is completely overhaul and re-assembled, serviced and re-lub with 5 different types of Swiss imported movement lubricant, Calibration to +5 secs per day. Above scope of works is carry out by Swiss trained Technicians.
  20. I'd hope that there would be some pictures or proof to back this up if we're paying for it? Has anyone actually had this done?
  21. Hi I was wondering if anyone services reps independently (and reliably) in China? The Asian 7750 movement is extremely popular and many experienced collectors in this forum have advised that watches are cleaned and serviced to increase the durability and reliability of the movement. This sounds great, but if I were to do this in the UK, it would cost more than the watch - IF I can even find a watch maker/repairer who will work on reps. Given the concentration of dealers and factories in China - I'm surprised that there aren't several reliable companies which specialise in servicing and repairing replica's? I for one would be happy to purchase a watch from a TD and then pay extra to have it serviced (by a reliable source) for a fee - then have it shipped to me. I assume it could be done a lot more cost effectively in China than in Europe, US, Australia etc. Is this something which is offered? I am fairly new, so perhaps I'm missing something? If this isn't offered, then surely there is a big gap in the market for this service? Regards Kiran
  22. Can you compare the cases too (to Gen)? It looks like the NOOB is slightly chunkier/boxier than the JF.
  23. Hello all I'm interested in purchasing a Schumacher Legend Speedmaster from a TD. I had originally ordered a Vintage Rolex Daytona with a hand-wind, Venus movement. I have been disappointed with the quality of the markings on these watches and really love the Omegas - they look much more accurate than the Rolex. However, I have noticed the Omega's appear to have the older Asian 7750 movement - 21,600 the other at 28,800 bph. Has anyone bought an older movement piece like this - I understand that each piece is different (as is reliability), but I'm concerned that I could end up buying an expensive paper weight. From my research, I understand that a serviced/cleaned up Asian 7750 is a reliable watch - but servicing in the UK for rep watches is either near impossible or extremely expensive (more than the value of the watch!). It seems like all TDs are sourcing these pieces from the same factory and operate in fairly close proximity to each other? Are there no reputable watchmakers/servicers who would be able to service the watch before its shipped out to me? Has anyone done this before and had this arranged by a TD? Thanks in advance for any advice. Kiran
