I need to order my 1675 bezel and retention ring. WHO990 has them for $159 with insert, but I really really dont want to order from them because of all the problems I have had with them. Does anyone else sell these sets??? I would even pay a few $ more somewhere else.

Now after long time I decided to change the datewheel after long search for a correct one. There are silver datewheels around, but unfortunatelly without sunburst and they are too dark - so I have asked for solutions around and finally I find someone who can do it without washing/scraching up the number print. Please don't ask me how this is made, this is a prototype and there needs more to be tested to be perfect. The only problem is to source some, nobody has them anymore - and there are needed a minimum of 100 pcs. to get it started to do a first batch. Maybe someone can help here...
This datewheel was a bit too dark, but after the treadment the silver gets more shiny - maybe because of the breaking light with the sunburst structure!?
But let's see the result of the first one:
How much to buy the 100 minimum?? If they are really that good, Im sure a couple of us could get together and make an investment.

Enjoyed the warm weather today with an old favorite
No pics of the GMT Jojo?
-
So where do we get this movement from???
How is the quality compared to an ETA2893-2?

Always with the drama Dave... who really cares?
Sometimes you need to deal with the devil. That doesnt mean I agree with everything they do.
Sure I ordered it from him, nobody else has the same one that I know of for the price I got it at.

Apparently you need the H5 canon pin and hour wheel. Im going to try without it by keeping the dial movement spacing to the absolute min. It can be done, its just that the GMT hand is very close to the dial. Should be fine with a vintage dial, but if you were doing a GMT2c then you would need the higher canon pin so the GMT hand clears the dial markers.

Looks good!
Not bad for $150

I knew what I was buying. I wanted to secure the "good bones" to build....
Also, what's wrong with the bracelet? I thought that 93150 bracelets were perfectly acceptable for these watches?
Thanks,
Jeremy
I agree, the MBW are the starting point of an awesome franken vintage.
The usual mods would include:
Gen crown and tube and modding crown guards
Gen insert or faded insert with gen tritium pearl
Dial lumed with vintage tritium look and aged
HEV mod optional
Caseback modded and polished out a bit to look used.
Drill out the lug holes
some vintage work to the case and bracelet. You dont want it to look NOS because then it looks fake.
I believe the bracelet on these old ones are solid link instead of hollow. Not a big deal but incorrect none the less.

Yeah the MBW are solid link while the gen bracelet is hollow folded link. I agree the MBW probably is better quality. Just not correct thats all.

$50k watch and no pic of the movement??
hhmmmm
-
I agree the MBW rivet bracelet it junk. The case set without the movement costs about $175 from MBW if i remember correctly.

Yeah the hole on my Noobmariner was almost the right size. Sort of like the DW 6263 case. Just needed to change the threads by running a tap through it.

Look on ebay.

Which watch are you building? What country are you in?

I agree
Nothing beats a gen plexi. You have to see it to believe it.

I just ordered all the parts for my 1675 build
josh asian 1655
ETA 2893-2
I got 2 rough gen dials off VRF. Not sure which one i am going to use yet.
WSO990 bezel set

You can get these on VRF for $25-30k. Mike wood is selling one right now and it would be a good example from a reputable collector. I think hes asking $30k for his.
-
cool project.
I just bought the EXACT same parts for my 1675 project. Josh Asian 1655, two rough gen dials on VRF, ETA2893-2 and MrSlimeball990 Bezel set. Not sure what i am going to use for a crystal yet. I'll probably just use the stock one until I make another order from Clarkes. Hopefully you have no problems with your hands clearing the dial with the 2893 in the Josh case. Ive been reading a lot that its a nightmare to install and needs the taller H5 Canon pin and hour wheel installed.
Let me know how it turns out.
-
Installed an Angus wheel a long time ago. Lines up fine. Slightly left justified but doesnt touch the edge of the datewindow.
-
just use some 400grit sandpaper to take down a little of the outside bottom edge of the crystal. The same way you sand the outside of a bezel insert.

UPDATE - Crappy ETA copy hybrid, slow beat 2836 mashup movement is toast. Now suddenly losing 10 min per hour in time. What a joke.

I always get different items than what i ordered. Thats the only problem I have with them. You never know what you are going to receive. Made 5 different orders, and all 5 were screwed up.
