  1. I have one sleeve done by John (The Dutchman) way back before he opened his first shop, in fact, it was all done at his home. Brings back great memories! Old clients can still get work done by John. From what I've seen of Kat's work on the tube, she's into B/W and does mostly portraits. Excellent work, BTW.
  2. Yubitsume? Hopefully he hasn't offended anyone to have to have done that...yet
  3. "Gratulerer med dagen"
  4. Some folks have issues with tattoos in general, which would overshadow whatever watch you wore, or even if you wore one, for that matter. I have full sleeves and wear my shirt sleeves rolled up (short-sleeved shirts/or none in the summer), for the most part. I think watches look great over tattoos, but then I like tattoos. If you decided to do full sleeves, you could really incorporate changes in the design where your watches strap on in order to accentuate that specific area. That would look great! Lastly, tattoos are a personal thing, usually a graphical way to reflect past life experiences, so just go with what 'you' want/like. Will take some photos as soon as I have some spare time. PS (body-suit tattooed) Tattoos can be painful to have done in certain areas
  5. I would be up for that, although my watch knowlege is somewhat limited and I'd be picking everone's brain.
  6. Yes, I know the gst/pst will be killer when added to the price and you're correct about Harper (some things just don't make sense). I called the customs office here in BC trying to get a simple response to what the duty on watches from the US would be and nobody could tell me. They gave me a couple 800 numbers to call, but no joy. One person tried to answer, but the English was so bad I just hung up in frustration, so I still don't know. I've been waiting to hear back from abouttime since yesterday. Maybe I'll call today. Was in Lahaina last year, but later this year I would like to get to Guilin, China (advice from a member) and the surrounding area. As an afterthought, Oasis Hongkong are starting flights out of YVR to HK at $600CAD. Pretty hard to beat that. Wonder if they have Asian size seats???? The vacation to the US to grab the watch is certainly an option, although it would need to be a short one (he ponders on whether he can get way w/o the girfriend I know the capture will be terrific, but the hunt that I'm on is great as well Thanks stilty.
  7. Thank you for your input. Yes, I noticed the price increase. I would think that auth. dealers would sell old stock at the old prices, but I'm thinking that doesn't happen Will definitely haggle for the best price. Got a PM and a link to abouttime@.com (CA), so I will look more into that today. At a quick glance, they have a 048 that looks terrific. Thanks again.
  8. Ok, thanks again. Have to go to N. Van on Wednesday morning, so I'll probably just stop in to see what's there, time permitting. Never know what may come of that! If Natasha is there I'll speak with her.
  9. Yes, they seem like great people there. I did find out a bit later that they don't have the 111 in stock and that it could take up to 2 months to get it. I'm not totally fixated on the 111 and could change my mind, as there are other models I like (most . When you were at the store, did they have a stock of Pam's there, or was yours an order item? If they do have stock, I'll probably just go there and have a look. Thanks
  10. Hi all, Just got off the phone from an Auth. Panerai dealer (PalladioCanada) in Vancouver, Canada. They quoted me $5250 CAD (plus taxes) for a Pam111. This equates to approx. $4700 (USD), as our dollar is quite high at the moment. Is this quoted price within an acceptable margin, as opposed to buying (or ordering from) in the US? I'v searched, but I can't find prices for new Pam's anywhere on the 'net. Thanks for any input.
  11. Sorry to hear about your delivery issues, but I'm thinking that the delay was worth it. Very nice! Mine's enroute
  12. "Illegalists" - I like that elprimerozen and others gave good advice (again) for the new people that happen to read this. Search, read, search, read...ad infinitum, but the that's standard protocol on any Forum. If you want to know about reps, the yings and yangs of the acronyms or who the respected dealers are (as opposed to the stealers), you'll do the legwork. Pretty simple, really.
  13. Bought the same mag today and enjoyed the rather short writeup. Liked the part where they say, "It's time to get a grip on the most important accesory in a man's wardrobe." Never thought of a watch in those terms before.
  14. Not sure of your route, but I'm thinking you will head south and eventually get to Abbottsford, BC, where you will cross into the US and continue south. If that's correct, we are about 30 kilometers before the turnoff and would love to say hello. We can offer you a free night's stay in our best hotel, grub and grog included, of course Will keep track of your progress. Helluva journey...good luck!
  15. Big improvement on my end as well Appreciated. "West coast of Canada"
  16. Upgraded after my second post and lots of reading. I have a Forum (not watches) with 5000 plus members and I know the costs can really get up there, especially if the server is off-shore. Hopefully, all the new folks will get with the program and support this site as well. The information is invaluable.
  17. I can relate and I know that this issue must give you one big headache. Be assured that we all know that you are doing whatever you can to resolve the issue. BTW, thanks for all you do!
  18. Takes approx. 40 seconds for pages to load. The ping time to the server from the west coast of N.A. is quite high, but that's expected, given the location. Not sure if this forum is on it's own dedicated server or a shared hosting plan, but there's no question there's issues. Pinging www.rwg.cc [203.223.159.45]: Ping #1: Got reply from 203.223.159.45 in 237ms [TTL=48] Ping #2: Got reply from 203.223.159.45 in 236ms [TTL=48] Ping #3: Got reply from 203.223.159.45 in 237ms [TTL=48] Ping #4: Got reply from 203.223.159.45 in 237ms [TTL=48]
  19. Just a short intro to say thanks for all the terrific info/forum. Researched here and at another Forum and have ordered two watches from trusted dealers. Ten days in, so I'm expecting them to arrive with a week. I'm sure I'll have some questions that a search won't answer. What I know so far is that this hobby is addictive! Interests are: Kids...the ones I know are mine Harleys...2006 Road King, 1973 FLH Beer...any and all Bushmills...self explanatory Great Dane dogs...them BIG ones Canadian coins/bills
