Get a quality Hornback strap from HKTan or other strap vendor and that piece will be completely stunning!
I'm a custom strap maker & trusted (strap & acces.) dealer on RWG/RWI. So.. won't be contacting HKTan.
-
Haven't shared, not very friendly of me. So.. I snapped a couple shots for you guys.
Oh, it's a latest version sec @ 12 grey themes. Got it from Toro, 1st order with him, went well.
On a rep strap? Shame on me!

My noob sub and GMT IIc, as well as my original swissfish all go swimming with me.

That came out great, Grew. Excellent resto so far on a really cool watch.

Nice snowflake.

Be careful with oils, conditioners and polishes on that type of leather, its going to change the texture and appearance. Like I said, just break it in the old fashioned way.

Slightly confused here Gran. Just showing me the Singapore Seiko club thread on this or am I missing something?
Beatiful build, great work!! Seen some of these over at HF, but this really stands out. Being totally noob at Seikos, which models nbrs work for dial an cb replacements? Tried googling Seiko5 once but got stuck, sorry and thanks
Thanks! These FFF are modded from base SNZH57K models

Bend it into an arc back and forth a bit. There's nothing you can really apply to the leather that is going to do what breaking it in will naturally.

Just wanted to share a few pics of my FFF.
The watch, dial, caseback were all here so I decided to see if I was up to the challenge. Will I wind up with a FFF or a $65 scratched up dial, mini frisbee and broken Seiko 5?
The watch.
The dial.
The caseback.
Like most of us, I'm not a fan of gold, but I really liked the looks of the gold bezel #'s against the gold accent dial on other FFF's I've seen. Good thing, because the only dial I was able to beg, borrow and steal to get was the no date gold 55. The other variations were all spoken for. No worries, this is what I was after.
Uncased the movement, pulled the hands and dial, then fitted the new dial. Pretty straight forward.
Painted the second hand tip red, put it all back together, and it works!
Soon I'll have to sort out a strap for it, but that will have to go on the back burner while I make straps for YOU PEOPLE.

Closest would be gen. Not trying to be funny, one just sold on ebay for $80. Keep an eye out and get one for yourself.
-
I don't want to go into details out of respect for Trusty other than to say that he stands behind what he sells.
Haha because he hooked you up I bet! You got another watch or something good! That's one thing Josh and Andrew seem to be cool about, throwing money or goodies at a problem is a sure fire good business practice.

Hey there old friend. Glad to hear you are still right side up. Have you purchased your Aventador yet?
There's a thread going on RWI, someone asking if anyone has seen the UN w/ silver dial and used your pics as an example. That watch is still causing stir.
The pams are really hot, two of the big factories are duking it out making really high end stuff. All the old gripes are taken care of. Superluminova applied on dials, the whole nine. Noob factory stuff looks like it's the way to go. If you've felt like a Pam now's the time.
I'm a TD on RWG1 and RWI now (for straps) so if you need some leather straps (or whips ) you better look me up brotato.
-
Really glad to hear you're feeling better, let's keep it that way, T!
-
Still the original, still the best!
-
dookie
(I see my 'lil thread is still going strong )
-
That came out beautifully.
-
I'd say a pam with a migliorestraps glow stitch job.
(By the way, I stitch cleaner than that. I just sewed a few lengths real quick to demo the thread. )

regarding breitling date font versus eta date font--> yes...if you take a look at my watch it has a breitling date font - notice the "7" in "27"...then take a look at P4's eta date font's "7" in "17"...notice the difference?...same is true for the other numbers...
re: P4's nickel-plated original version...its a true eta movement and it has an eta datewheel...these had very nice dials - the best...but there was a version that came out in limited quantities at about the same time - it had the usual brass/gold eta movement (genuine, too) but had a breitling date font datewheel -- it too, had the best dial...then there a couple of clone eta movement versions - with breitling date font date wheels...
regarding my comment on the bezel and case edge - you can see what i mean in P4's last pix...notice how you can see the case top near the edge around 9 o'clock?...
hope all this helps...
others can chime in...but i spent an obsessive amount of time researching the various configurations of the steelfish and have owned at least 6 different "swiss" versions...i finally determined that the "best" rep of the steelfish needed to be assembled...
R-
Then theirs the plethora of other versions that came out after the original 1000m swissfish, all of which took a turn for the worse (although you wouldn't get that impression by reading some of the wayward FS descriptions i've seen... "ultimate" my ass.)
It can always go a step further; swapping gen dials and piecemealing one together is more than I'm willing to do. There's other issues, like the 1's on the bezel are incorrect, the 12,6,9 are rounded at the top, theres no lume at 12,6,9 on the dial chapter ring. (probably why dial swap is so popular). All and all I'm very happy with this and it still is one of the true classic out of the box super reps- one of the originals.
-
there are definitely differences...but unfortunately, they are built with various cases, dials, dws, crystals and coating...yes - there's many combinations...i know this first hand after owning many of them...on the case, you will see that on some the bezel covers the watch face, and others you can see the watch case...there are differences in the shape of the crown guards - the flat is larger on one versus the other...also, the crystal on one is flush with the case, on the other it rises slightly...
there's also differences in movement/dw combinations...the orig models with gen eta had gen eta dw...then they went to a more accurate dw, but it was put on an eta clone...
the best combination is only achieved by putting a couple together...gen eta movement with breitling dw...crystal with double ar flush...crown guard has larger flat areas...bezel is slightly smaller than the case -exposing the case near the edge...
there are differences in dials, too...
bottom line - i would always go for the best dial and dw...
good luck...
here's mine - with gen dial...

Awesome. What can be said beyond that?
Still have my swissfish from when they 1st came out, great watch, came with a gen nickle plated eta in it.

Ha, look, it's Jacques.

the springbars are sticking out from the lugs ffs. The whole shape in general just looks wrong.
