As per the subject really, I bought a set of Sub instructions from eBay that were described as genuine but is there any obvious way I can determine whether the booklet is gen or not?
Description was:
Genuine Rolex Submariner or Seadweller instruction & information booklet. Second-hand but in very good condition, as you would expect from a well cared for Rolex item!14 full-colour pages with English text.
Includes the models 16613, 16618, 16610, 14060M, and Seadweller 16600.
Bid now & you may well get yourself a rare Rolex item at a real bargain price!!
I am a regular genuine Rolex item seller. I do not sell fake items!
Check out my feedback for your peace of mind!
I offer a no-quibble money-back guarantee if you are not absolutely delighted with your purchase!!
It was dirt cheap, I only paid £1.95!
Caveat of if it's too good to be true it usually is probably applies but if there's no real way to tell then it doesn't matter..

How funny. The previous auction he won is the operating instructions for that watch!

Yes, he's very reliable....
-
If they were any good we'd have heard about it, it's just another scam site.

Wasn't that about a year ago?

Aye, 'tis the 45mm version, I love it and I really don't think the 20mm lugs are that noticable.
I'll probably pick up a black bezel 42mm version at some point and then I can use the strap on either

It's so funny how often accounts get used by brothers, or sisters, or great-maiden aunts or sons of nephews.

I've not even looked there for months, I have no need. Why even bother?
Sure, it's what got me interested in this but it all went titsup.com so I feel no need to be nostalgic.

It 'sold' but he's relisted the same item.

I wish it was possible to actually put a comment on when reporting stuff to eBay.

Me:
The item is listed as being in London but you will not ship to the UK. Why?Could I collect and have the watch checked at an AD before buying?
Him:
I am not in uk at the moment.Me:
That's OK, I don't mind waiting until you're back in the UK, especially as the item is in London. -
Aye, I checked his history as well, a few law books there.

Real, or not real? Seems far too cheap and the fact it's supposedly in London but he won't ship to the UK is suspicious.

Or members of a broader collection.
Aye, that's more likely. I've actually bought a couple of Seiko's since I've been hanging out here
-
Have you tried asking Andrew if he has any of those? He's sorting me out a bezel and insert for my Sub.
-
I was able to move four links over and it's helped a fair bit, thanks

It's interesting that some people are saying "I hope he has a good explanation." Is there really any conceivable explanation that justifies sending someone a damaged and nonworking watch on purpose after representing it as new? This is not like a dealer not doing QC. He knew exactly what he was sending.
Quoted for truth.

Might not be so easy with no visible pin on the bottom?
-
Someone forgot to put a dial in it when they built it
-
Perhaps if you can position the clasp so that the release is center on the underside of your wrist, you can eliminate this problem.
It is

To hang this way? The angle is very noticable, there's no curve between the release clip and the next link at all, it's quite an obvious angle.
It's really difficult to photograph but you should get the idea from this.
The bracelet is a bit loose, I'd certainly not want it any looser but it's comfortable, I'd also not want it much tighter.

Does having a crown guard slightly off matter? Does having poor lume matter, does having a nice oiled bracelet matter?
Yes. To me it matters. If I'm buying something described as 'genuine' then it'd be nice to know whether it actually is or not. I have no ulterior motive.
