  1. Hey guys. I just received my SA from Andrew for winning the raffle prize. He sent it out immediately and it got to my house in the midwest in 4 days!! Amazing. Thank RWG and Andrew again for this... I love the watch, it is beautiful. I thought my UPO was big, but wow. So what do you think? I'm not a big guy at all, but do I pull it off? Does it completely dwarf my wrist? Sorry for the crappy pic, my iphone took it.
  2. hehe yes, it is a great torrent site. I use to have access but have been out of the p2p game for a while. I plan on seeding a bunch! Thanks guys, I received an invite.
  3. Consumed by 1s and 0s, a tale by a bored and restless Moze ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Odd subject, I know. But it is the most popular game in the world. I can proudly say I have been "clean" from WoW for 4 months now and I am surprised at how easy it was for me to just uninstall and not look back. Addiction in a serious sense for a video game must seem silly to most, but believe me... it is very real. I've read ridiculous stories about WoW addiction leading to numerous divorces, child neglect cases, etc. A good female friend of mine recently graduated college and interviewed at a well-known Engineering University as a wellness counselor. She mentioned to me that one of their #1 issues with the students were WoW addiction. These student wouldn't sleep, shower, socialize, etc. They'd just play this game continuously. Luckily, I didn't have it that bad. However, when I did take the time to calculate the # of hours I've wasted playing this game, it came out to basically the equivalent of spending 2 hours a day, 7 days a week for nearly 8.5 years. Appalling. I can remember when I stepped foot into Walmart to buy the game... I picked it up, took it over to the counter of the electronics section and the guy working the register took a second to pause and stare at me... He then says, "are you sure you want to buy this?" I nod, thinking... well of course I do, I brought it up here. He says, "well ok. Its just that I have seen this game ruin lives..." I laughed then, but now I understand. I'm positive the people who get sucked into this game do it for different reasons. My case was a little different though, I think. To be completely honest, I started playing to keep me in the house, safe... and to prevent myself from spending money. I was new to college and had several friends who liked to go out EVERY NIGHT. I would bartend on the weekends, and often came home drunk and broke on other nights of the week. College was very boring and easy for me, and I figured a "never-ending" game like this might keep me entertained and under control. I had no clue it would consume me in such a way. It wasn't until I had achieved nearly everything possible in the game, had everything I possibly could want, that I realized that I had not only NOT gained anything... but had wasted so much time in the process of realizing this. This was 4 months ago, a new expansion is coming out soon and I have no desire to ever look back. So much for my story telling time. Anyone else play this game? Have any stories to share?
  4. Hey all, just wondering if anyone had an extra demonoid invite I could use... Thanks so much! -Matt
  5. I love how all possible paths of the RWG flowchart terminate with one highly important question... "Was she hot???" Unfortunately I wasn't feeling it. Very nice lady. She was an early-thirties short and petite brunette... But I remember her looking very "weathered" for her age... as if she had traveled thousands of miles and years in the direct path of the scorching sun in a desert while chain-smoking cigarettes the entire time without sleep. If I HAD felt something there, my reply to "Is that a Seiko???" would have obviously have been "Why yes, baby. It is."
  6. Take a deep breath, chill out, and read my reply post more thoroughly. I found it humorous yet irritating at how little she knew, but at the same time appreciated their courtesy. It would not have mattered whether I was wearing a rep, a gen, or no watch at all. I was merely commenting on how even people who sell watches appear to know nothing about them, and presented this point by sharing a humorous experience that took place at Zale's.
  7. Woah woah woah, I need to explain that I am not upset about this event. I don't have anything against the lady... Her job is to be friendly and sell the watches and jewelry they stock... not to know a great deal about other watches, swiss watches or even watches in general. Perhaps I used the wrong word when I titled this 'insulted'. I was very happy to have gotten my watch fixed, especially for free, and I appreciated every bit of courtesy and friendliness they showed me. It was just that from my point of view, someone who has a great interest in watches and spends a lot of time on these forums, that I was shocked to hear her first impressions and what she had to say. I posted this to share a story I found humorous, not to state that I was genuinely [censored] off and venting about it. Sorry if that is how it came off.
  8. lol very true. I would have loved it if she somehow knew my watch was a rep, and because of that said these things... But this wasn't the case. I was just sort of bothered that someone who has been in the business of selling jewelry and watches (many of them swiss automatics) could know so little.
  9. Just thought I'd share a little story about this past Sunday... Saturday evening, I made my way to a friends house for an after party celebrating my university's continued winning streak. I was sitting in my car and decided to take my watch off as I didn't want anything to happen to it (as it often can when you become judgment impaired drinking). I was in a bit of a rush and guess I pulled too hard trying to take off my UPO's rubber strap, and completely pulled the springbar from the watch. Unfortunately, I had bent the bar in the process... which sucks because they were genuine Breitling springbars my watch guy had put in after attaching the strap and determining my PO's ones were suspiciously weak for such a heavy watch. Sunday came along and basically every jewelry store/watch shop was closed so I headed to the mall, anxious to get my now favorite watch fixed. I ended up at Zale's, walked up to the counter and asked the sales manager lady if they could service watches, explaining that I needed half of a strap reattached. I showed her the planet ocean, she nodded and took it to the back to her "watch guy." I want to mention that at the time, I was dressed up quite nicely for a nice dinner to take place later that evening and was wearing my DateJust. The lady returns as I'm glancing over the watch section, comes over to me and stares at my watch. She proceeds to first, ask me if it is a Seiko... And then informs me that they replace watch batteries for free!!! I'm at a loss for words at that moment and when I think that she could not possibly say anything more ridiculous, she begins to talk about how she has been selling watches for nearly a decade now, that I should be proud of mine, and that her Seikos on display are currently the best watches on the market. I simply look at her for what seems like a long time, blankly, then shake my head. The "watch guy" returns with my watch, complimenting it and telling me the service is no charge. I think him graciously and get the hell out of there asap before my head explodes.
  10. Have you guys checked out ChaCha yet? It is a service that allows you to ask questions (almost ANY question) and have a live person immediately answer your questions, at no cost to you. You can access it via the web or by cell phone text messaging (US only I believe). I used it this weekend to figure out what the current version of ipod touch was and its current price, to find out a current football score and to ask it random questions while I was drinking with some friends. Anyway, thought I'd share it with you all as I've been enjoying it this far. Web: ChaCha Website Cell: Simple text a question to 242-242 (I think it spells out ChaCha)
  11. Haha yes, you could say that. I can barely lift my arm up with that 45.5 beast on my wrist!
  12. Thanks! That is a relief. It is just quite a big difference coming from bigger watches. I didn't need to size the watch at all for it to fit on my wrist, which I did have to on my PO. Tak says if thats the case, I must have big wrists and it will *look* like a ladies watch on me I do like it still tho.
  13. Hey guys. This may sound like a silly question, but.... Is the datejust on the right a ladies watch? I ordered a men's datejust and received this today, but it is obviously smaller than any of the other watches I own. Im curious if I may have received a ladies watch, or if I am possibly just used to very large watches. I skimmed across forum posts stating that datejust is a small watch for smaller wrists, but what is your opinion on this? I've laid it out next to my HUGE UPO and my smaller IWC. Thanks in advance! -Matt
  14. Thanks for the responses guys... I guess it does show up separately. Although it did not show up on the regular mail truck, I just saw this update in tracking: * Arrival at Unit, September 19, 2008, 10:07 am, City, State Zip Unit? Its not at MY unit Could that possibly mean the local post office? I'm continue to track to make sure I'm home to sign for it. I really hope unit doesn't mean "delivered," because that would mean something went wrong.
  15. I think I've had a couple orders ship via EMS before (car related stuff), and I think I remember them being sort of ninja-like. No package, I blink and then somehow the package is sitting at my door. I know that once EMS from China enters the US, it is turned over to USPS... but I was wondering if they deliver it in a different mail truck. I'm curious because I saw my package leave customs at 1pm yesterday in a city about 6 hours from here, the mail just got delivered by USPS @ 9:30am and the package did not come with him. Thanks! Edit: update below
  16. My car didn't have too great of a weekend. First: I had a sober friend park my car in a parking garage... Apparently being sober doesn't make you a good driver. She scraped the side of my car against a cement base column. Next: I'm guessing someone on a bike put some scratches near the rear of my car. Is it possible to get this fixed without repainting or are the scratches too deep? The rear scratches are hard to see in the pic. The front is visible in direct light.
  17. He's probably going to try and sell it as gen.
  18. You guys all make a good point. I started comparing similar watches with and without the jewels... I've decide to go without. Thank you for saving me from potential buyer's remorse. I'm hovering on this one right now: So far, I currently have: IWC Spitfire chrono w/ double sided AR and black croc strap Omega Speedmaster Legend Michael Schumacher Omega UPO So I guess the reason I'm not looking at Subs is that I'm trying to sort of bridge the gap between super huge sporty metal watches and ultra classy dressy watches. I'm hoping this watch would be a good pick for that. Thanks so much for the advice, keep it comin'! Its an SL55 amg... I wish. Not mine, a dream car of mine. I'm rolling an 07 bmw 335i and an 03 merc G55 at the moment.
  19. I've been looking at them both and although I like the second one a lot... It just wouldn't be practical for most of the things I do. Any opinions on rep datejusts tho? How close are they to gen? Any other suggestions?
  20. Hey guys! This will be my 4th quality rep purchase, and I've decided that I would like to get a Rolex. Beyond that, I'm really digging a silver colored (SS or WG) band, white face and some sort of diamonds (CZs). I have been looking at the DateJusts because even though I do appreciate and like more 'complex' watches with more bells and whistles like chrono functions, I figure there is a correlation between the number of features a watch has and its likelihood for something to go wrong. I've found two different models that really strike my interest, but there are certain things about each of them that are stopping me from making a decision and buying one... First pick: Rolex SS White Jubillee Dial w/ diamond markers and swiss eta 2836 movement What I like: I really like the 'busyness' of the dial, it seems quite different from my other watches and sometimes its good to have some uniqueness. It has the white color dial I was looking for with diamonds, and I also feel that it doesnt go over the top with the diamonds. Very subtle, yet has a nice amount of flash at the same time. I like the contrast of the silver band, textured silver bezel, white face and CZ accents. Second pick: Rolex SS case, Diamond bezel with red ruby accents. Swiss 2836-2 movement What I like: OK, so I'm not sure what exactly strikes me such much with this watch. It has the SS band, white face and diamonds... But at the same time, it is very very flashy. I have only seen a few watches with the full diamond encrusted bezel that I like, and I think this may be one of them. I think the rubys on the white face, surrounded by silver and diamonds provides sort of a classy yet flashy look. However, I'm really worrying that this may be just way too over the top. What do you guys think? Any opinions on the two models on which you prefer, which is a better rep, etc? Is the second one just WAY too flashy? I am not so much worried about getting called out. While I am a college student, I do fairly fit the profile enough to not get called out in my college town w/ my job, car, etc. I'm more worried that once I get it, it will just be TOO MUCH for myself. That I may have doubts about having so much flash. Enough rambling from me -- any and all opinions are greatly appreciated.
  21. I got one too. I put a clear case on it...
  22. Thanks for all of the responses, I have made a decision. I got an excellent deal on a 2006 SLK55 AMG and jumped on it. It's going to be shipped out early next week!
  23. great suggestions guys... I'm trying to keep a running list. The miata -- I'm not sure I could do that... It looks nice, I guarantee its a blast but if I'm going convertible I'd have to grab something more guy-ish. The 335 is an option but I think I'd be kicking myself when the M3 comes out for not waiting. That Atom is amazing... but I'd have to worry about getting it built, shipped, etc and I'm guessing that since the company is a staff of 7 that it might take some time. Z06 is worth a look. I don't think I could do the Caymen tho. Last week I took an 04 C4S home for the weekend... Fell in love until Monday when I drove an 03 996 911 Turbo... No going back after that. I can't imagine forking up 80K for a 4 year old car tho... Back to the budget question -- Due to garage space (or lack thereof) I plan on trading in the 03 SL55... I hope to maybe get close to an even trade, so something in that ballpark. I'm looking to get maybe low-60s trade in on that. If I can get the thrills for less, that's all the better.
  24. haha. 13-person spanish class and I should have had the speakers off... It seemed low volume enough to where it'd be ok. NOPE. That's okay, was a good laugh.
