  1. I'd say a Davidsen PVD but you might find this too casual for the office.. so go for Joshua's latest Pam 212 with the 28,800 movement and sapphire crystal.

It has a 44mm case, but because the face is smaller than most 44mm pams it is not quite so "immediate" as your 111.

    Here is a comparison shot:

This has the best fit and finish of all my Panerai reps... and I have eleven of the buggers, so I know wherof I speak. And - it comes on a carbon fibre strap with deployant... so you can wear it, straight out of the box, without having to wait weeks for a decent aftermarket strap to arrive.

I love my 212! (Yes - I know that the ticks are inside out. Frankly, my Dear, I don't drive a tram.)

  2. This older Kompressor is auto - no alarm - but uses the alarm quadrant as a second time-zone. For me, that is a more useful function than an alarm:

There are several versions of the VC Dual-time regulateur... all have inaccuracies, but all are pretty good. The rose gold is my favourite. You have to be impressed by the concentric calender and seconds subdial! The GMT subdial functions correctly on all but the earliest versions:

Early version with non=adjustable gMT subdial:

Later version - GMT is adjustable:

Joshua's version has an "officer caseback"

  3. Go to Tesco and buy a pot of Lord Sheraton Leather Balsam. It costs about £1.25, I think. I use it on all my straps. It will darken a dry strap and but will only have a very slight effect on the stitching. Here is a before and after shot of a Davidsen strap that was received in very dry condition:

Treating your strap will preserve it, offer a degree of protection from water splashes and make it soft and supple.

  4. All reps except those from Davidsen will come this way ...

With respect, Sir, not all. Probably just the Swiss versions. Here is my Asian Unitas Radiomir "California" from Joshua. Note that there appears to be a big fat washer between the hands... looks like a short canon pin movement could have been used in this watch as there is no small seconds subdial to get in the way of the minute hand.
