  1. You got that kind of reply from a store that sells some pretty good lines of watches, from the people there who had a couple gens to compare to. That sure says a lot about the quality and accuracy of some of our more popular reps. Brian
  2. Hey ace, First, if you have already purchased from Joshua, why not ask him if he has/can get what you're looking for? Second, I fully agree that you should do some research so you know what you're talking about. It doesn't take all that much time, and if a client asks about you're TT Sub, you'll have some actual knowledge you can lay on them. That said, the Subs that our trusted dealers carry are all very good, but thay all have their flaws . . . they're reps, not gens. It comes down to which flaws YOU can live with, not which ones someone else can, someone elses opinion may not be the same as yours. The gold plated ones are suppose to stand up to wear very well, as well as a gen plated watch. A lot of the dealers can also get solid 14k, and possibly solid 18k in the mid links crowns and bezels. Plus, if you are willing to pay the price, you can get your Sub modded to suit your wants. Display & winders, quickest/cheapest go to Ebay. Also, the MBWs, Maria's Best Watch, are being sold by a fellow who lists on TRC & RWI who calls himself Luckyyy. The true MBWs are reps of vintage watches, the vintage Subs being the most well known & most sought after. He also has a general policy of NOT selling to newbies, which he recently restated after a naise-like experience with another one again. Brian
  3. Angel & Jay are an absolute pleasure to deal with. They are extremely honest, and will go that extra bit to work with you on your purchase. There is more than just the movements difference between silixwatch & silix-prime. Their silix-prime watches are much more accurate reps, better cases, better made and overall better general quality control, but the silixwatch stuff is priced really cheap, and is decent quality if you choose carefully. I'd suggest that when you find something you like to email them (addy on the website) and you can deal with them directly. They will answer your questions, and even make suggestions if they feel that there is a better alternative. Feel secure, you're in good hands dealing with A & J. And yes, the silix-prime website is S L O W as can be, and I first mentioned it to them in November, they really didn't know. Silixwatch moves along pretty good, but is thru a different server. About every other email to them, I keep hinting about a change, but . . . Brian
  4. "Yeah... i have invited them to join our new place as dealers" (Thor) Hope you don't mind, but I've been throwing in a plug for them to sign up here in my last couple E's to them too, and that I thought it would be a really good idea, especially just after that big group Pan buy, and they're pretty popular rite now. "@brian...oh man i hate the font and the colour you are using...it makes me difficult to read all the post..." (dadog13 & dcrooz) sorry about the dark burgandy . . . I'm still thinking blue background . . . with SNOWFLAKES !!! I changed it to black for ya . . . but I've used the Tahoma font for about 9 months & change at the RWGs, and it's also been one of the true web fonts since as far back as I remember. . . & I even remember, long ago, hand coding a first, second, and third choice of fonts for a web page . . . "it makes me nervous..." Good thing the font Chiller isn't on the list, huh . . . (there really IS a font named that, really). . . 8^) "The problem with custom stuff is the watch maker isn't really that inclined to make it perfect, they will try and achieve what you want but they also have some pretty tight profit margins so they will always cut corners but the out comes are usually very good. Again hats off to Jay & Angel for taking the time to listen to what the market wants because the watch them selves makers rarely do this." (Davey) "I think that Jay, & Neil are the only dealers so far that have taken our suggestions to the factories,.. which is not easy, as it takes at times new machinery, & tons of extra work, which may not be supported in terms of finances." (If I may split your quote RT) This wasn't going to be a custom project, just them trying to come up with a little better rep than the competition. When they mentioned to me their project on getting together with a watchmaker friend, who has some factory connection, and tweaking a Sub & SeaDweller to better specs, I had been talking to them about mods to the watches, and what I needed for one I bought from them. We talked about the little fine tuning things that would make the reps that one step closer, but I also talked about how the vintage MBWs would take OEM/aftermarket parts WITHOUT any mods to them. I stressed that beside the better quality in the case, and workmanship, that the OEM/AM swap outs were a HUGE part of their reputation. That was one of the MAIN things they were trying to achieve, even if just on the bezel & insert, and crown. This would be adapted to the whole line they were trying to come up with, Subs, SDs, GMT II, Exp II, and vintage models, not just a few custom made watches. "I think we need to realize that we are but a small segment of the market,.. the vast majority of the rep buying public, are not close our education levels regarding accuracy & mechanical reliability, thanks to our unique forums, so when we tell our dealers to twist arms of the manufacturers, they do so with grace, but knowing that most of their customers don't know or care about 90% of the issues we bring up, they are under no pressure." (RT) So, about the reps today . . . and I do remember teasing you all when I first found rwg, good naturedly, of course, about how picky you all were about the printing on the dial, the date font being wrong, the hands too short, or long, the bezel too thin, the pearl not even close . . . all these tiny insignificant things I just couldn't see even bothering about . . . and now, not quite a year later, and not as sharp as a lot of you . . . what the hell did you turn me into ???? I notice these things !! And I look at the new models that come out, and start picking them apart . . . just like you all taught me . . . and the worst one of the bunch . . . JOE !!!!! After reading his posts, talkin to him on the phone, reading his posts about the mods he's done to HIS watches . . . GEEEEZE . . . I've gotten even worse !!! He's REALLY turned me into one picky SOB . . . so go ahead, get even, I deserve it, I'm slowly turning into . . . one . . . of you !!!! So, that aside, are the reps today, at least the major, popular, money making ones, really that close looking to the gens? Are . . . we . . . koff, koff . . . just that overly picky, and that 90% are right, no one else would really notice the difference ??
  5. I had originally posted over on rwg1 part of an email I got from Angel & Jay at silix-prime about them working on having a Submariner made to their specs, with it being able to accept at least some OEM/aftermarket parts, kinda like the MBWs, and them having more control over all the little things that people who hang out at rep watch forums nitpick over. jsph in a Re to a post by veni12, over in the Dealer Review section about a great experience with J & A, had brought the subject back up. With all the good looking new Subs that have come out, & hopefully will keep on improving, I wanted to keep everyone aware of how their project is coming along, so here's the latest. Got my Re: from Angel & Jay this afternoon . . . and some pics from their short trip, interesting place, and beautiful looking country. They said it was a really old town, about 1k from where they live. From the distance, it could have been one of the little towns in PA, about an hour or so from here, in the mountains by Cook's Forest. The close-ups, definitely NOT PA !! Now . . . the news on the Sub project. When I first posted about it on rwg1, I had said they were interested in a BEST QUALITY Sub, for a great price, and wanted to continue a quality line to include a SeaDweller, and next, a GMT II, and on from there. As always, they are true to their word, and their mission. Here's the cut & paste from the Email. They just could not get things right. So does the Sub project, the factories could not get all parts correct. It is dragging much longer than we thought. So I may just go get the Subs from some other watchmaker first. We were out for the weekend, for an old town thousand miles away. It is such a pretty place, walking along the street, u feel like sinking back to the ancient time. I am sending u some pics I took from another email account. Nice day. And so, bad news, delay in the "best Sub" project. Great news, they're still on a mission to get one made the way they want it, and have used the input from the members of the forums critiques on the Subs that I've sent them as an added guideline to their expertise. A & J also mentioned they were going to be registering on the new RWG . . . oh yea, that's here . . . and over at RWI also. They also hinted at maybe running some special deals just for the members of the forums. So, that's the latest. As I hear more, I'll keep passing the info along, at least until they get set up here themselves. B

    MBW?

YOU SAVED IT !!!!! Way to go.! Looked at that one, and a lot of your others over a number of times. I sure hope you got to save those too. Very well done, great pics, and very informative. A valuable part of the archive of knowledge that should be a part of the new RWG too. If I haven't said it before, I appreciate the time and effort you put into these . . . and actually even learned things from them !!! 8^) B

    TTK

I knew that rare standout would give me away, and no, it's still not for sale . . . for less than $13.75 plus shipping . . . I think when I caught the photo on Ebay it was like $6 . . . Don't know how I managed to sneak in here in under 100 members, figured I'd be like 8k something . . . man, just got up over 200 posts at the old rwg too . . . not bad for 9 months hangin' out . . . and now, get to start all over again too. Am shooting for around 7 this time to hit 200 . . . I like the new board, and the new fresh attitude . . . mostly . . . and GREAT to know the inmates are finally in control of the asylum . . . admin excluded, of course . . . don't want to get booted from TRC too . . . 8^) . . . Really great of him to step in and get things going here. Found his house through you all here, around last Turkey Day or so, and WT too. Drmmaster's RWI is another nice refuge setup in case the old rwg would crash, and we'd have another place to go. The timing is actually pretty cool, both groups ready to cover us if/when the "old" would go down again. Now, I've just got to work on paying off & getting my $$ back for the slew of computers & puter stuff I just bought for home, and my computer business. I just know that perfect Sub will be comming out any day now . . . and next, the perfect GTM II !! B
  8. I'm sure there are you watch wizards out there that know better than me . . . where do ya think I learned from . . . but . . . I'd take the ETA & bracelet off the MBW & put those in the non, and have a better LV than either. Didn't know about the bracelet when it & TTK's & Trusty's all came out, but thought they looked pretty good, and as accurate as I've seen . . . not counting Joe's beautifully modded one . . . but the Asian movement is what really killed the idea for me. I didn't know if it would be worth adding the price of switching the movement and hands, and now, adding a better bracelet to it too . . . guess I'll wait a little bit . . . I'm sure the perfect Sub is due out any day now . . . 153, btw, thanks for the side by side. Wish we had some way of doing a whole bunch of comparisons like that . . . cheaply . . . 8^) B

    TTK

Aaawww mannnn . . . I'm always too late . . . I was gonna tell him to PM TTK at LEAST 4 or 5 times in the morning, and again at night . . . You guys are takin all the fun outta the new RWG . . . . And yea, I changed my nick from the old rwg, but now, it's consistant with TRC, WT, and RWI . . . But I figured you'd all know me from the rare genuine collector's watch in my avatar . . . 8^) Brian

    MBW?

I haven't seem him listed in the dealer's section here yet, but if you've BEEN a member at TRC for a bit, or you can try over at RWI, look for a fellow named Luckyy. MBW's are one of the best quality vintage reps around. They will also fit genuine & aftermarket parts, like bezels, inserts, and dials. He also sells a line of really well made modern version reps, mostly Rollies. If YOU'RE lucky, you might be able to buy a rep from him. He even states in his section, he's not too willing to sell to "new" collectors. If you're REALLY into vintage Rollies, and have a good tale to tell why you want one so much . . . maybe . . . Best of Luck to ya! Brian BTW . . . I'm not quite ready yet, want a few more modern ones, but definitely want to eventually get a vintage white letter MBW Sub.
  11. Hey Moose, Ok, I'm not into Pans at all, & I don't read Japanese, and also can't translate ????????????? all over the website . . . . . Is the line in your original post: "The website is Watchonpo......" yours ??? I understand the link to the site doesn't say watchonpo, but, somewhere in one of my browsers favorites, I do have the link to watchonpo. Been a while since I've checked it out, and mainly dismissed it when I found out he would only sell in Japan. It was probably somewhere on the old RWG that I read the posts, and do remember about him going over each of his watches. Sure seems like he didn't carry a whole lot compared to other dealers around here though. Lucky thing you checked out that other link and caught the same pics. I also seem to remember a number of old posts with people catching scammers using pics taken off gen sales on ebay, and I even remember some scammer using pics they stole off one of our trusted dealer's sites! Good Catch! Brian
  12. If it really is Watchonpo, it should be one helluva watch. The guy, from my understanding, works the watches himself. Sets them up the way he feels is the best, mods them himself. Only thing else I caught is he only sells in Japan. I was just over at TRC, who is he listed as there?? B
  13. It is pretty cool to watch this grow too. I just checked the members pages . . . 58 pages w/10 per page . . . And yesterday, between the time you logged on & I did 9 minutes later, 25 people signed in. Thanks to RWG, I've learned a lot about watches & reps. Learned about a few other boards as well, but started, and spent the most time at RWG. If this is where RWG and all its members with all that knowledge is moving, then I want to move here to. B
  14. Not a problem at all. I can still copy/paste any locked thread, and there was nothing on that I needed to save. Also, after I posted, I bumped your post back up to the top. Now . . . GET SOME SLEEP !!!!!!! 8^) B
  15. I never had the pleasure of conversing with the infamous Jetmid. I HAVE had the pleasure . . . well, that's not quite the right word . . . of "talking" with nobody . . . From what I've heard about him, if Jetmid & nobody got together, they'd need their own special forum at the site. It might be a good thing to do though. We'd have a good example of a bad example of what to do/not do here! Plus, a place to go that would make the Loony Bin seem sane . . . 8^) B
  16. I want to hear Robin Williams do his Elmer Phud imitation, saying that . . . It would HAVE to be as good as his Elmer doing "Fire" 8^) B
  17. My wife did that . . . And backed into my truck . . . 8^) B
  18. nobody would tell him where it is . . . 8^) B
  19. A whole bunch of topics With not a whole lot of replies are locked out . . . That started one of my posts there today . . . . A post about posts being locked out . . . and IT got locked out . . . LLLLLLL OK, guess I have to go back and do a post about my post about locked posts being locked . . . 8^) Brian
  20. OK, go ahead, post it . . . 8^) It's pretty cool watching this page grow & grow, and the number of members go up & up . . . Glad you added to the list! B
  21. Woa . . . Looking at those two avatars . . . That guy doesn't date that girl, does he ??? OOOOOUCH! 8^) B
  22. Hey John, I recognize that avatar . . . when I first saw it, it reminded me of the one I've used on my emails over the years . . . Hmmm . . . gotta click the pic to make it work Hope you enjoy the new RWG. B
  23. Hey Brad, welcome in. BTW . . . we're NOT repaholics here. Just because we may have one or two or four rep watches, and just MAY be looking at a couple or four or five more . . . doesn't mean anybody is hooked on replica watches . . . and hey, did you see the great deal on the new . . . . 8^) B
  24. LLLL . . . Just making sure people read the whole post, eh Dutchy . . . Welcome home Dario! 8^) B
