Really? If it's true I'll try! I'm sort of serious because I'm 23, I work hard, I am English, Italian and spanish mothertongue (kind of rare) and I have studied aeronautics but I don't see any wealth in my future. Speaking many languages is revealing useless even though I work hard and they appreciate it, I sistematically get underpaid. What would you guys do in my place? I know I'm off topic, I'm sorry

I'm looking for a watchsmith in EU. I will keep you guys updated. But I wanted to ask, what do you mean by ''not the watch I wanted?'' I'm asking because I want to know what to expect from my watchsmith and what to ask. For example, some say you should get your old watch polished, others say it should stay as it is since it is a vintage watch. What do you people think?

Welcome, I'm very often in Itay, where are you from?

I contacted SSTEEL but unfortunately he is only certified to work on swiss ETAs Any other watchsmiths you know? They've asked 600€ near my place, servicing, crystal replacement and gaskets I guess. But I'd obviously prefer someone we all know and not ''leap in the dark '' like we say in my country

Hello guys, unfortunately I'm in Europe. Does misielkped accept work from outside CONUS? thanks for the replies guys, the watch isn't going to see any water anymore. Should I contact misielkped directly here via PM?

Ok guys. I know I've already opened another thread, I swear I tried hard to resist but I just couldn't. I MUST ask another question How old is the rep market?? Could I have found a rep watch, lets say, in 1992? And was the quality this high? (like nowadays I mean)

Not at the moment, I'm out of the country and my dad doesn't sound so helpful. I'm sure the watch is genuine because I took it straight away to a watchsmith that checked it out and confirmed that it's genuine and gold. But then I started to think it could be ''gold shell'', that is my only concern. What doesn't seem right? P.S. I'll ask him to take it to another watchsmith and take pictures of the movement

strange looking? tell on which side and where to focus

I looked around and indeed you are right, but the 1503 also came in solid gold. Apparently it should have a steel case back but mine seems gold, any ideas on how to check?

rolex has produced capped watches? A watchmaker said its value was around 5 or 6 thousand €, why do you say 2500?
-
Thanks for the replies guys. For the insurance, do you mean just for sending and receiving it or an insurance for the watch? Didn't know they existed
-
Thanks for the reply. I guess misiekped is a trusted member? How do you deal with the fact you're sending several thousands of $ to someone you don't know? I'd sure prefer to send it to misiekped instead of rolex, i guess I's save a lot. Yes the watch is gen:

Hello guys, unfortunately, (usually when you inherit something you've lost someone) I've inherited a vintage datejust. I've worn the watch without asking myself about the value of the watch or the exact model. Now it will need servicing and a crystal replacement because I hit a rock while scuba diving. Does anyone know the exact model number? And a rough estimate of its value? I'll keep it forever anyway but its fun to know. I was bought in the 80s more or less.

Hello guys, I searched on the forum trying to find something similar but couldn't. The question is, can you love a Casio? Or a cheap watch in general? I own a gen vintage rolex, from the 80s, a datejust to be precise, a G-shock and a few reps. The datejust is fully gold and despite many people thinking full gold isn't ''classy'' I just love it. Up to now I had never owned a gold plated watch, but a few months ago while I was walking to work I stopped to look in one of the tens of ''tourist shops'' as they call them here and saw they had at least 150 different casio watches. I saw this gold plated blue dial casio and wrote down the model number. I discovered on Casio's website that they use gold Ion plating that is supposed to be durable. Well in the end I bought the watch for 50€ and I literally love it! It is 6 months old and has got more wrist time than the datejust recently. We've gone scuba diving (14m) and it takes a beating everyday at work (I don't work in an office so No desk diving). Now I realized that I love it. How is that possible? I suck at taking pictures, I'm sorry. I'm reading the guide to photography in the forum and I swear I'll get better. When is the plating going to come off?
