  1. @ PolexPete

Thank you for all the part numbers. I just ordered everything, based on what you said. Thank You again.

I am not sure what gen parts will fit, but it has lugholes, and the case profile looks pretty good, granted it's in plastic, but still looks pretty good. Once I receive it, I'll take some more photos.

  2. So I was in contact with Reg, looking for the 16710. Well long story goes that MBK/MBW have a 1675 full kit without a movement. Evidently the movements are hard to come by, and the 2893 is pricy, so they just do the full kit. Dial, case, hands, bracelet. So I have 2 questions for everyone while I wait for the pics from Reg. Is there any issue using an off the shelf ETA 2893 like this one?

Also, has anyone ever seen one of these pieces? I searched many different combinations of terms and could not come up with anything. If anyone has, what were the impressions?

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Best Regards,

    John

  3. Hello,

I'm planning a GMT build using BK's explorer 2, and am on the hunt for a dial. Question is, is that dial a 27 or 29mm? Also, if anyone has any good sources for dials, please don't hesitate to share. All the usual suspects have plenty of 1675 dials, but none have the 16710 dials.

    Thanks in advance

  4. So I've decided to build a 16710. I saw BK's tutorial, about taking an explorer and changing the bezel. That is what has given the inspiration. So I emailed BK, and he is out of the TW bezel assembly. So I have 2 questions for the forum:

Is the explorer to be used, the one that all the dealers sell? 40 mm superlumed. Came out on Josh's site last December?

And will the WSO bezel assembly work with it. I'm not worried about finding a dial and hands yet, just more concerned with case and bezel.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  5. Just curious, short of going franken, which dealer does a halfway decent 1675? I know its a noobish question, but just would like to hear from owners, who has a good one.

    Thanks in advance,

    John

  6. "When I look at my watch, the last thing I see is the time"

    I love this hobby

    Mike

This resonates loudly with me, so I guess I'm in the horology camp.

I'm never without a watch on, and somehow I never know what time it is. I check my cell phone when I want to know the time. I have gens and reps, and I can get caught multiple times per day just staring at my watch, never actually caring what time it is. I use the rotating bezel, I use the date. I could care less if my TC sub has a 3135 or an 2824-2 in it. (Even though I know it would fit it) I'm attracted to the aesthetic of it all. The fact that good design is good design. Plus it puts a little extra coin in my pocket when I saved $7500 on a sub. ;)

  7. Have you tried shaving it? That's what worked for me. The Clark's was just a hair too big, so I shaved it down and it fit with some finesse.

I put a huge scratch in the insert, but eventually got it in. I don't really care about the scratch as its a Clark's.

  8. I am a flipper, so its always the same money in and out. I have a savings, and a solid job, and am single, so that helps. But its an emotional response to watches, and you can't justify or quantify emotional responses to objects.

At least that's what I tell myself, that and I could be spending my money on hookers and blow instead.

  9. I'm with RolexAddict on this one. These watches are 30 or so years old, so chances are they have had some service at some point, and unless the supporting documentation is spot on and verified, I would be hesitant. Especially for the money that they are commanding. $6k for a 30 year old watch, for my pennies I'll stick to the "new vintage".

  10. So is it just me or does Phongs 9411 have a lot of wok on the rehault. I was thinking of just cutting the losses and getting his 9411, but the rehault just doesn't look right. Is it just me or is it way off.

    Thanks in advance
