Daytona Build Update I think I've finally got my 6263 where I want it (without having to spend a lot more money). I had previously mentioned that when I got the watch back from Phong, it was taking on moisture. I thought that maybe the back gasket was thin & I installed a thicker one - seemed to be OK Next, I didn't think the crystal looked right, so I ordered a Clark and had my watchmaker install it. He said "sorry, it broke. These replicas don't have standard dimensions". He re-installed the original plexi. But, at least, he did get the minute recorder adjusted & it hasn't missed a click since! I also noticed that my blatantly incorrect bezel had developed a crack @ about "160". Well, I still needed a nice crystal and ordered another, NOT CLARK, based on a recommendation of a Forum member. When I removed my bezel, almost 1/2 of the original crystal [censored] was missing (my watch guy is 84, I love him to death AND he got that V72 straightened out). Maybe that's where the moisture came from. My new crystal was nice but when I tried to PRESS the bezel over it, I noticed it was REALLY TIGHT. I remember reading how you sometimes have to "open up" these rep bezels, so I began to work on increasing the diameter of the step that contacts the crystal. So, it took a lot of trial fitting, to get the bezel to fully seat. In the process of doing this, I watched that crack open up (obviously too much interference). Anyway, by the time I did get it fully seated, the crystal split right down the middle! Okaaay.. Ordered 2 more $16.50 (net) 25-21 crystals and have stored the watch in desiccant (rice) for several months, while waiting for a proper & inexpensive bezel. Just got a 6263 bezel, (NOT a $450 Phong), off EBay Installed new crystal, MEASURED & trimmed the bezel for a firm, press fit. BTW, these crystals seem to "snap" over the case [censored] and you have to be careful not to shave off slivers of plastic from the sharp edges of the case. I don't know how to link my previous post, but this bezel is closer to right. I really am liking it, now. Thanks, Chris

If I were to bite the bullet on a Phong bezel, which "MK" would be appropriate for my 6263, based on pushers, crummy dial, etc.?

Thanks for the recommendation. My bezel isn't really "proper", as the "110" is wrong. Also, I just noticed a crack between the "150" & "160". Guess that developed since after I got it back from Phong (received from them un-broken). You can see that crack in my last photo, wrist-shot. Worse now. Been looking for a watchNY bezel, or equal, but haven't seen one come up on EBay. Just to confirm... Are you saying that while the Clark 25-21 crystal is supposed to be "spec" 62XX size & it did not fit, the others you suggested (including Gen) COULD fit my case? Thanks again, Chris

I was having a problem with my minute recorder and an adjustment took care of that. Watch us running really good - keeping time, registers running... Now I want to replace the crystal, as mine is a little beat up (already). I bought a Clark 25-21 on EBay, but my matchmaker said it was too small to fit OVER its seating surface on my case (it split on attempting to install it). Any recommendations on a crystal? thanks, Chris

Right, re-finished or facsimile of 5512 dial. I remembered the "SCOC" when I first mentioned finding the dial - but got sidetracked by the 5513 case. Thanks for pointing that out. Service Dial & Roulette Date Wheel installed.

Upon closer inspection, under good light, dial is pretty stinky. Poor hand-painted refinish, based on inconsistent font height & thickness. Anyway case & insert look useable.

Thanks to all for the kind comments. I have the Service Dial and now, the Date Wheel. I'm confident that my Bezel/Insert is at least Service - possibly original (caseback date 3rd quarter, 1959). This Date Wheel was found in a box of parts that my friend had. You can probably imagine the excitement when I opened the Rolex can. If also found a 660ft/200m Sub Dial, which appears to have been re-lumed (Luminova) but looks good otherwise. Believe it or not, I cannot remember if it's for a 1680 or 5512! I'll check it out tonight & post photos. OK, 5513 dial. Also a bezel insert & case. Case back looks like it may have been hard to remove! Case threads seem OK though, as back screws in, until the dinged-in part hits seal surface. Now, just need movement, hands, bezel, crystal, tube/crown & caseback! See pics.

Thanks, I'm very certain is genuine and my movement is Gen. I feel VERY fortunate to have found this!

I just ran across this Roulette date wheel. Is it a given this will fit my GMT? Seems that only Datejust & GMT came with these? The gap in the calipers is just parallax - measurement is close.

Not right now - I started this 10 years ago and it's been held hostage by my former watch repair guy, until March this year! I'm going to enjoy it for a while. Chris

Yeah, looks like my cost is going to go up...

Yeah, that's the one! I thought my black one had red (dark orange) on the registers, as well as the minute track - like your's - but I can't seem to find photos of those. Mine had the "12 Hour" turntable bezel. Do you have a build list for yours? Thanks, Chris

I have a spare 7750 & want to know where to get a case to build a 3 register Monte Carlo. I've seen some black, blue & gray dials for sale. I used to have a Black one... I'll also need hands & date wheel. thanks, Chris

Guess that's why it looks so good...

Wow! I had a gen 666, but had to sell it. Do you have a build list for the one pictured?

My nickname is Pawn King. I just paid $200. Best I can remember, it was running fine - now, has that problem with the chrono- maybe sitting up for 10 years...
