  1. I love New Orleans as well; was there three weeks ago. Checked out a pam 113 :-)

Can't compare food between the two, it is apples to oranges. I love new orleans food though. Must say it is not as good after the hurricane. went to NOLA, it was terrible! (used to be pretty good)

  2. Was just there a few months ago.

Napa Valley if you have the time; I love touring Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Restaurant there called "Town Hall" is awesome; fun bar is Tres Agaves for tequela. Ate at one or two other top ones, but Town Hall was my favorite.

BE SURE to go to the farmer's market at the ferry building. Great view of bridge, fun shopping, etc.

If you have a woman w/ you she will want to shop @ union square (sak's, etc) Also many good watch stores there (Torneau, Cartier, Montblanc, etc).

China town was mainly just junk stores, but we weren't there long. Little italy is awesome, be sure to get pizza, canolli (sp?), etc

PM me if you have any questions; I'm sure there are residents here as well. GREAT vacation city.

  3. just in case some of you don't know, this is when you look at the hand from different angles. so if the true second hand time was at 00 seconds, if you view it from the right it would look like 59 seconds. from the left would look like 1 second. bending reduces this error.

the IWC logo on the clasp looks rough. is it just the picture or is it really like that?

    crisp, but not straight.

  4. I don't think its that anyone actually offended... it just makes browsing easier from work or while girlfriend/fiance/wife is watching

I always thought the point of an avatar anyways was to make a quick association with the person when you saw the post to jog one's memory... Bricky having a brick, etc.

  5. Sure, it is the freedom, but isn't this just exercising that freedom for its own sake (with no other benefit)? By that argument it is basically the equivalent of walking up to people and screaming "[censored] YOU" at them and waving porn in their face... just because you have a right to do so?

It seems the only "benefit" is showing that one can do it... which seems silly to me.

  6. My question for those that have the nude avatars is what is the point?

I don't see any benefit in having it? However it causes trouble for many members?

If there was some benefit to be derived, then cool. But what benefit is there to having a naked girl next to your post about the IWC Jones?

I don't see an upside here, just a downside?

If an upside exists, would someone please explain?

  7. Taste, class, the usual. :D

Look at the Planet Ocean. It's cool, sure, but it's even cooler because it's Orange.

It's an understated design with a hook. If you don't get it, it's not for you, but trust me, it is classy.

Have you seen the MIH watch? Being french and all.... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

THAT is understated design with a hook!

And the institute won't return my emails to buy the damn thing!

  8. Naked women are nice and all... but I check in from work and would rather not see them. Its nice to have the avatars and signatures enabled because they add a personal touch and make it easy to quickly identify someone.

If someone wants pics, there is the GGG thread or its equivalent.
