  9. I have always loved watches. I have 107 years of heirlooms starting with a Southbend Conductors pocket watch, given to me by one of my great uncles for xmas, it was my grandmothers dad's 1899. Next I inheirited 2 40's Hamilton Tanks that were my grandfathers, then found my dads daily watch...an 8040 19 Jewel automatic Seiko 1977...that I had restored then eventually had 2 gen Datejusts and a gen Submarimer 16610 2006....cant remember the model number now...along with 3 Omegas both PO's. I bought a handfull of reps from trusted dealers and even sent one Sub to a guy from this board who modded my rep sub so good when I sold it to a friend of my watch maker...he flipped out on how GOOD of a replica it was... I miss shooting the [censored] with you guys and looking forward to offering my experiance, strength and hope to new guys getting to the hobby....its nice to be back.

  10. Great thread. I too found these sites when I first became interested in reps, only coming across this forum by chance saved me from falling victim to one of these sites.

Me too about 6 years ago and did waste some money before I found REAL rep dealers and boards. However I did have some business success and was able to buy all the gens I wanted... but those days are gone...again LOL.. I came across this board and it was my 3rd....funny I cant even remmeber the first 2 rep boards I was on...getting old.

  11. Well put. As a longtimer in the rep world and a buyer of Genuine watches as well, I can tell you story after story of well known scammers in the rep world. These poor souls, just like myself, had to learn the hard way. Do a Google search for Rolex Replica and up pop some of the biggest ripoff companies selling these contraband watches, Blue Fakes, BestSwiss, GoReplica, they are well financed to fake out the newb. They know no one can really do a darn thing about it and un-suspecting customers have dreams of a Swiss made Grade 1, so good a jeweler can't tell Rolex. What they get is a 21j Asian movement $99 hunk of crap (not saying that the 21j Asian movement is a hunk of crap). I learned the hard way and now you have learned the hard way. l am sure hundreds of others can tell you the same thing. I am guessing you got ripped for about $500 to $750. Welcome to the REAL replica world.

Personally after years and years, thousands of dollars, many orders from the REAL dealers and on and on, searching for what we see over and over which is, " the best Submariner". I fianally had had it and went and bought a $5175.00 brand spanking new Z series 16610, backed myself out of the rep hobby all together for the most part. Now trhe best Submariner is on my wrist without reserve. Was it worth it? Yeah it was.

    Peace

  12. Hi everyone. The spring (the curly que looking thing inside the clasp that holds the mushroom pin) broke in half. Anyone have a resource for a replacement spring. I love the bracelet, then heft and feel but it is usless w/o that spring. I read a tutorial on the RWI on how to mod the spring but not what to do in case it is broken. Any advice. I have contacted Josh for a replacement.

  13. I got a Daydate in a trade from dmann and I love the rep but it is a couple of links too short. I emailed Josh and he said that he didn't sell individual links and the new style bracelet's will not fit this rep. I believe it to be a moderatley decent rep. It doesn't have any serial numbers engraved in the lugs and it says " T swiss made T" on the dial. The Asian movement is probally in the 21,000 bph range, maybe less. It only stayed wound 24 hours and honestly the sweep is very close to my 1977 genuine Rolex's 1570 non quick-set movement which is 19,800 bph. I may upgrade this movement if I choose to keep the watch. When I wind it if feels kinda scratchy and not near as smooth as my ETA's or the 1570. Any idea's what movement is in this thing. I am thinking it was probally $100 rep at best.

Anyway, I ordered these today. Individual President links, polished middle, brushed outside 16mm wide and it should be a no brainer fix.

Your opinions ? The bracelet is a standaard 20mm president with invisible clasp.

  14. Well said Teejay as usual. The PO looks and feels amazing. I may indeed someday trade it off and get a 45mm. On the vanity thing, I do own several Gen timepieces including a Rolex. I don't think I could wear a rep that would get me called out. I am too OCD for that. I recently send out my 16610 sub to get heavily modded and if all goes well in the next 60 days, I'll be trading my 1603 datejust and some cash for the genuine 16610. Vanity DOES come to play though as I have traded a rep for a very close replica of my 1603. So when it is gone, I can wear the rep daydate and no one, at least at work, and friends will be the wiser. Yeah I am vain. can't help it.

  15. I am going to buy several different straps and chacne it up no and again. I love the way it looks. The vanity im me prefers Rolex's to Omega's because most people recognize a Rolex. I have 14 watches all together so I never know what I am going to be into on a particualr day.
