  1. Very cool Rob! I am glad you got her up and runnin! :)

Have no fears....sometimes we hit a snag..but that just makes it better when she's done!

also....I think I have heard of this J character...if he's the same one I think he is..your in good hands! :clap2:

I didnt get it running...J did hehe

  2. Shoot Rob, I like your new watch! But it sounds like you need a full service on the 2846. And maybe a new gear...

I just got this watch from Silix for maybe $62

Looks a lot like yours, except for the bracelet. I'm afraid to open the caseback for fear I'll screw up the 21j movement!

Yes it does..I REALLY wanted a polished center link Oyster...J had 2 but the didnt fit the case...bummer but I like that President bracelet for sure.....yeah I wouldn' tinker with the case or movement,,,,,I killed my first Explorer II $60 rep the day I got it....pretty disappointing....just bought another one though..a better one from Josh

  3. Yeah, movement will have to come back out and go back into "the vat" for an extra thorough soak...

I am game J..just lemme know when you want it back....

    You're the man...man

I didnt get her running J did....very talented watch man....

  4. We need to work on the end-link fit - that's what I get for being in a hurry... :g: The 2846 bugs me as it was obviously extremely dirty, missing screws, ratchet wheel scrwed on caddy-wampus, etc! I cleaned and oiled it and it will now stay running but when regulated in one position it changes 70 or 80 seconds when you flip it over! Something must be worn in there somewhere.

M, I was hoping you liked this dial as yours is in the mail! ;)

Yeah it's gaining like 15 minutes an hour LOL....it's struggling BAD

  5. Howdy fella's

This a cool deal. I have/had a 80's replica of a 16013 TT Datejust. I bought it 1989. It was dead so thanks to J (you know who your are man) we decided to swap the..

    ETA2849 17j movement

To a new rep case with a SS/WG bezel, silver dial and hands and a Oyster Bracelet. The movement has issues with a winding gear thats missing 6 teeth and it is way off on it +/-....gains time but it looks cool and a movent swap is prolly in order. Here are the before and after pics...

    1941 Hamilton Stuart (grandad's watch)

    Thanks man,

This watch is VERY special to me, my grandpa was given this watch by a "Rosie The Riviter" crew at Convair (General Dynamics) for Christmas 1942. I have the complete box set, all docs of service it's WHOLE life...it's 14ct Gold and in emaculant condition. I wear it with lots of pride mates.

  7. Can someone teach this 3 day noob how to post pictures please? :help:

Hey noob....you first need...the easiest way I think, a pic host like Photobucket...upload pics there from your computer where you may want to enhance, crop said pics on computer. Then upload pics to you"re host and when the pics are there, there should be options for posting the pic file..like for instance on Photobucket it looks like this %7Boption%7DXXXXXXXXX%7Boption%7D the %7Boption%7D is the key to look for for the pics to embed....does that make sense....Some...not sure about RWG but RWI now allow's for straight away upload from the computer and auto embeds the pics in the post window.

    Hope this helps,

    Rob

So, as I'm going through my typical Friday afternoon one thing is different, actually, make that several things..Well, for one instead of my usual Panerais I have this thing on my wrist and I'm in love wub.gif

    post-11419-0-65206800-1315601803.jpg

...but more importantly I've successfully creeped out a bunch of coworkers who like to gawk at others' monitors while wandering aimlessly around the office in hopes of striking up a Friday afternoon conversation or perhaps bother me with their last minute "pressing issues". They don't understand why I'm so amused by AIX shells, sqlwbs and EMs on my screen. For sure they were expecting to see some nudes or youtube to go with my grinning...

Reason I'm happy is simple, I made great friends on this and other forums whose company I enjoy immensely, and consider it a privilege to have an open door for advice and friendly banter with them. But what does that have to do with the watch in the hazy picture you may ask? Well this, my friends, is one of several presents I got recently. At one point or another I was talking to Watchmeister about some of my less than stellar experiences with China PT/PC 1665s that I was building up with slightly better rep parts and eventually gave up on improving.. So rather than an understanding "aha, yeah.. umm, well that sucks", W. just went and mailed me his old-case MBW1665 w/ gen T39 superdome, crown/tube and a zig relume, one that's in the pic! Yeah, so my jaw dropped when I got that but wait, not before I get several surprise packages from Ubi with parts that I'm just afraid to touch, some still in blister packs sweatdrop.gif He uses animal stickers for return address on his packages so I got a giraffe and a hippo smile.gif Man it was all kind of surreal and unexpected, not to mention exciting! But as long as I'm remembering all the awesomeness, I have to mention a small trade with a supremely delightful PeteM, about a month ago when he icluded a very rare and excellent PAM catalogue from Japan together with the crown he was sending.. And this inot all, NakorTheBlue just sent me his Yuki bracelet after I posted asking for info on bracelets. I mean how much luck can srsly one person have?

So is this one of those sappy group.gif posts...you bet! I want to thank you guys for being awesome, super generous with your time and goodies, and hopefully give a small glimpse to new members and remind some veterans what this scene is all about. Ohh, and I have something special in store for you guys as well wink.gif

Have a great weekend everyone drinks.gif

I am right there with you Randy...I am blessed to have met a few friends here that are very patient with me and WIS'ness and anxiousnes....you guys know who you are....THANK YOU MUCHO.

    Rob
