  1. Sounds like a fun build! Check out my 16800 here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/156811-got-vintage-16800-content/ You might consider softening the case like I did as I highly doubt there's a 16800 alive today with edges that sharp! As for the 3135, I think it will fit but the dial will be a half-mm south of where it should be. (Approx.) When shaping the movement ring to fit my 2824 into the 16800 case I had to cut the top diameter down substantially further than I did to get it into a 16610 case.I've contacted TC about getting some movement rings, if you need I can get some extras and reshape them for the gen-spec case.

This IS a gen speck 3035 case..NOT a 16610 case btw. Shallow rehaut and all......Mitch as the same case as well....sweet

  2. Here are some mock up pics of my 16800 project.

Gen 2mm sprinbars BUT the holes need some relieve as the spring bar ends bing up inside the hole a bit. Easy fix

  3. That was my hope but these two just DROPPED into my lap and for the price, I had no choice but to pull the trigger...I have an ASS load of parts gathered. A Valjoux an a7750, Tudor bracelets, crown, Rolex crowns bracelets, glue on cyclops's'es, jmb is drilling a case and engraving Rolex and the other one is gonna be a Tudor case back....and it goes on and on....whew

  4. Mitch,

I have been here since August 2007 bud....I aint no RWGcc nooob... :) but this chat box SUX lol. Wish it didn't though.

    Ephry,

Thats what george told me, have to do some clearancing work on the set screws...not a b iggy

  5. Howdy fellas,

Been a while since I posted here at the great RWGcc. I had a few guys, mitchbaria, correctime make my pants go crazy for a 16800. Having read just about all the threads here (rwg seems to be the only forum of the big 4) that has content on the subject and came to the conclusion that the reason this build, a GOOD build is rare is because of the parts availability. Well the parts availability has gotten alot better in recent months so now its ON like Donkey Kong. Dutchguy and others have built great frankens of the 16800.  I personally LOVE the transitional vintage stuff. I have several uber genkens. Parts and blueprints by robbie, builds by jmb, Rick914. Tudor Snofwflake, Cartel 1675, 1601, 30+yr old 16234 and more.

I currently have the parts in multiples for 2 transitional 79260/79280 Tudor Chronotimes....post Big Block pre Tiger. I have been gathering parts for months and planning the builds for a year on, ever since jmb lit my pants on fire with his 2 Tudors, (thanks a lot Justin, I BLAME YOU).

I have sourced a 3035 Sub case, the vendor shall remain anonymous, bezel assembly, insert and 93150 bracelet with 593s incoming. I am studying HARD about whether a Yuki 3135 will fit and work. The 3135 is thinner so I have good intel that it WILL work. I have my eye on a Mark II NDT dial as well.

I look forward to being more visable here at my in inaugural replica board....since April 2007.

  6. But you are The Tudor Jedi Master.....contemplate for a minute. Milling the Daytona 1 piece rep bezel down so you can epoxy or JB weld (lol) a WSO 500mph $59 tachy insert on that milled part. We now have instant Tudor correctness OR machine a channeled bezel like this one trksh-bzr linked me to at Chrono-Shop. Stand by for the link. If you could MAKE a bezel to press on the Tona case....and we can buy these $59 WSO inserts we "GOT SOMETHING" man....what do you think.....possible?

    Have a look,

  7. This has been a year long quest to find the right parts, at the right time for the right price. Might wanna have a drool rag ready. I owe my quest for the Holy Grail to my friend jmb, The Tudor Jedi Master as I call him. It was his initial flash of his personal Tudor Chrono's that gave me the ephany.

    Tudor "transitional" Chronotime 79260

This is one of the models I am after.

Tudor Transitional Dial, Oysterdate pre Prince Date. I have spent hours doing my due diligence on this line of Tudor. As with Rolex, especially during the transitional years and models there is a "letter of the law" then there is the real world. There is SO much room for interpretation here as features cross top and fro with in the models. It was really a challenge to sort it all out. I had an unsolictited PM on RWI from a member whe had 3 of these dials horded. He bought them about 6 years ago he said. I negotiated the two dials you will see in this thread.

The first thing you notice is this dial is missing its Tudor Shield logo and its stick markers. After a week for searching, whipping members asses about where and who I could buy the parts to assemble this dial I finally contacted Phong, who sold me the shield logo for the dial. A replica Rolex Datejust stick dial will be the donor for teh stick markers. They are 3.60mm x 0.50mm.

Rep Daytona 116520 case, Tudor Pre Tiger bracelet...I bought these parts from an RWI member as well. Replica Daytona a7750 case and Tudor bracelet...some think this is just a Tiger bracelet but I have found it on all 3 post Big Block models'

This will get a Tudor case back engraved and search is in for a Tudor 7mm crown.

I can also use a Rolex engraved caseback, 703 crown and a Subs bracelet and still be correct to the transitional features. This tranny is very complicated and there seems to be tolerance left and right of "the letter of the law here" around 1997 ish.

This build will have a black 500mph tachy insert and bezel from WSO, large cyclops from Ofrei and drilled lugs.

Also an ETA 7750 Valjoux from Rochest and w/ Daytona hands from WSO.

This one is my Holy Grail.........79280 or 79260

    Drool away fellas, drool.

My friend trks-bzr said, "build THIS!!!!!!!!!"

Good news here. WSO has the 116520 Daytona bezel and inserts that I hope will fit these rep cases. They also have the Tudor's 500mph inserts in both polished SS and black.

  8. I was in the same situation recently but after spending so much on my phong 6265 I decided to just get one from dw for a lot less. Add some gen parts, send to spin for service and vintagize (don't think that's a word) the case. The next time I spend 5500$ on a watch it'll be a vintage gen for sure. Prob Tudor..

I coined the word "fauxtina" works great
