G,
I think the general opinion is that you are a stand up guy. The reason people with negative opinions stand out so much is because they are the ones trying to sway the majority.....I've always said that the most opinionated people are the loudest people in the room.......But that doesn't mean the whole room thinks the same way.
Don't let a couple bad apples spoil the whole damn bunch

It's usually meant for possesion (sic), not pluralisation.
There are some cases where it can be used to pluralise.
"A's are the highest scores" is as correct as "The highest scores are As" due to the capitalisation of the first A.
If you're going to be that pedantic about apostrophes, you'd better be prepared to be right.
Ya ya.....U no wat i ment

I usually don't get in to this stuff but why not this time. Past week the board has been 50/50 watches/drama.
I just see business going on, not scamming. If they (any dealer) commisions a watch they probably get first dibs on the 1st batches. This is business. If the next dealer pics up on say the 3rd batch, and lowballs it to hell, the original dealer, who commisioned the watch would be getting "screwed" in his mind. Probably get [censored] off too. What then? Probably try to get the other guy to raise prices, at least for a while. This is natural. I'm sure walmart, etc does things similar to this on a grander scale. If they are the number one dealer of a certain product they hold the clout, and will use it. Anybody would. The dealers are business men, not saints. They are here to make money. Most are helpful and friendly. The ones who weren't, and didn't ship anything are gone. Josh and Andrew did not scam anybody. Maybe some see the way they operate as controversial. Thats fine. Buy from someone else. Why try to get every dealer you don't agree with banned? I say drop shipping, big deal. I get the watch fast and thats good. I have confidence that problems will be resolved. Maybe inconvienient, whatever.
You want corruption? 1 acronym: OPEC
Anyone wishing to flame me go ahead. If I don't like what you say, I'll take it with a grain of salt, I promise I won't turn anyone against you or take it out against RWG

You might be right. I went from the images and did not read all the text on this one.
1:1 odds the winning bidder does the same......
-
I would say this is an overpolished gen case. Even the Viet cases are not quite this good. Might have a bid on this baby!
he says it is not original. at least he does in his 6263 listings. I doubt this guy sells any gen parts. He uses a round about way of saying "replica"
"REPLACEMENT CASE KIT, DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR ROLEX CALIBER-1570(1560-75)REFERENCE MOVEMENTS,
CONSTRUCTED OF HIGH QUALITY 316 SOLID STAINLESS STEEL,
Complete custom case = same specifications of factory
Item will fit genuine parts, accepts caliber 1570(75) rolex movements only"
Definately not gen
-
My biggest pet peeve in written grammar is misuse of the apostrophe. It is meant for possesion, not pluralization.
-
this guy sells 626x cases on there too. I see his auctions lasting every time. We'll see though now after that $65 million hit ebay took a few weeks ago over armani or whatever.
-
that is nice...definately on a college student's budget
And the 3-6-9 dial....wow....had a gen one like 4 years ago.....let the bad boy go for like 150 USD because I couldn't think of what else to do with it....
-
Owners often find themselves mystified as to the exact time (since the dial contains no markers).
I see....and as for the other watch, posted by fallin, on my other moniter his markers looked gold. Not on this one though. So would it be wrong/incorrect to put my dial into a SS case with a all stainless jubilee?
This one came from Trusty / Andrew... here is the watch. The movement is a 2832-2 ... I glued the dial to the movement holder ring after removing the dial feet. The advantage of gluing the dial to the ring is that it can be set in place and perfectly aligned and then the movement clamps lock the dial and movement together in place. I have done this on more than one occasion with a gen Datejust dial mounted to a 2836-2 movement in a modern rep case. I just completed a purchase of another silver dial with Roman markers and am going to build an all stainless with white gold bezel franken in a gen case. I have obtained a movement holder ring that will mount a 2836-2 movement into a Rolex 16014 case. When completed I will post photos. Here is another Datejust modern rep case I put a Genuine Datejust dial into.... I no longer have this watch as I have 2 gen Two Tone Datejusts and found I was not wearing this two tone at all.... I passed it on to DaveNYC. It also originally came from Trusty / Andrew. The movement is also s 2836-2 and also I glued the dial to the movement holder ring after removing the dial feet.
So you see a gen Datejust dial can be mounted to a 2836-3 movement into a rep case and it will fit perfectly. Good luck if you decide to try it and if you do please share your experience and pictures. Cheers
Thanks, all the ones I had contained bigger than gen dials. I actually have a rep 16233 case but my dial wont fit, it goes all the way in to the glass. Unless I could find a rep case by itself that fits, it would be about the same cost to buy a whole rep as it would to buy a gen case. Of course, I would have a movement with DW attatched already.....Something to think about in the future, thats for sure.
I love datejusts....so simple and elegant. Here is a pic of my first, from before I found the forum. Long gone now, parted out and such, and this is not a pic of the completed project, just all I have left on this machine. 16014 case with gen base refinished MOP/diamond ebay dial (I'm assuming all those are refinished on the bay) Eventually, I switched to a polished center link oyster:

isn't advertising prices one of the requirements for trusted dealers on this site? I'm all for new apprentice dealers as long as they are fair. Someone could be great but if they are winging it on the prices all the time noobs who don't know better will think the 1st quote price is set in stone, and pay more than what more seasoned members pay. Thats not fair.......

Silver Gen Datetust dial in a modern rep case.
What rep case fits a gen dial? I thought all the rep cases fit bigger dials?

On the Mystery.
Why not?
Just kind of tapering things down before school starts. Don't want to be building watches on the desk that I should be doing homework on. I was going to make a 16013 with this one, with solid 18kt/ss band. Maybe I still will, but not right now. Haven't been to school for 10yrs and I want to focus.
Why do they call it the mystery?
-
I want to take mine out also. It is aligned perfectly, but I would like to get some of that tape off and see if it sits lower in the bezel.
I read somewhere in one of the original threads, about the upcoming watch, that the bezel assembly had to be destroyed on the genuine to be removed and reverse-engineered. If this is true, I would only worry about getting the bezel insert out and forgetting removing the actual bezel. It was in one of the numerous thread, and god help me I tried to find it.
SO, you heard that I heard that someone else heard you can't get it off w/o ruining it.

That "ring locking system" crap, is it on the rehaut or what? Looks flat while the rehaut looks beveled or slanted. The 2 dimensional pics are throwing me off.
With the preliminary pics, I thought it was on the crystal. After some pics from the basil show, etc, it became apparent that it wasn't.

Freddy and fallon,
am I seeing gold markers/hands on all stainless watches? I like that.
My dial, that I will not use, is black/gold. The black has a brownish hue to it, looks awesome in the flesh:
-
I only brought one watch this weekend. So did my best friend. We're twins!
-
with some watches you need to take the dial out from the crystal side. This is tricky, and I personally wouldn't do it. Especially that delicate tourbillon. Ask homer.
-
I'm thinking of putting my 2 (1 6265, 1 blank) DW cases on the auction block. Stay tuned........
-
Mine is running fine, no problemos. Of course, the crystal is crooked, and of course, that doesn't affect the movement. I just hope nobody clicks "running, minor problems" over that or similar, non functionality issues.

Browsing the wristcheck and admiring stephane's EXPII. Nice watch. Nice shots too. I'm wearing the "bandwagon" GMTIIC:

Google toolbar was all I had. Unfortunately, firefox 3 blows so I got tired of all the connection time outs and locking up and incredibly slow performance and uninstalled it. Running opera now, seems to be OK so far. Ebay was a little screwy with it, but I jumped to IE to do what I needed.
I tried some patches and stuff, don't remember what, to try to get FF3 to work properly, no go. Piece of junk IMO. Maybe I'll DL FF2 soon. Enjoying the test drive of opera.

Great post llsteve80,
By the way, us Americans popularized the use of lemon in these beers.
Thanks. And I believe we also popularized drinking it ice cold. When I was in germany 13 years ago we were drinking beer at room temp. Can taste it better.

vlydogs wristshot got me thinking with the pic of the arrogant bastard bottle in his hand. I love sampling microbrews. A true microbrew is available for over the counter purchase in only a selected region. Elsewhere it must be ordered. Sometimes, it can't be ordered, you just have to GO there.
Personally, I like yuengling, which is available in and around Pennsylvania USA. Good stuff. Haven't been there for a while, so haven't enjoyed any. For all I know they jumped on the bandwagon and distribute it all over now, which would bum me out. I like when I go up there and get to treat myself.
#1 best is at a restaurant near my home that brews their own beer. It is an independent establishment, so the beers are unique. My favorite there is the Heifenweissen, a wheat beer that they somehow brew with the addition of cloves and banana peels. You catch a hint of clove right before the sip, smooth creamy texture with a flavor you only get with a wheat beer, and a hint of banana on the aftertase. MMMMMM! This is the only place I have seen that blend, but I'm sure there are variations around. Oh ya, and don't forget to drop in the lemon slice (not wedge)
Heres the place: http://www.pubcrawler.com/Template/ReviewW...BrewerID=102998
So what are you guys working with? I'd love to hear from some of the EU members on this one. Stuff that I'd need to fly to in order to sample.
If you haven't really sampled any microbrews, lets hear about your favorite exotic brew.
Vertu Ascent Ti is here!
