  1. I'd sent this to The Zigmeister last year - his fb was "crown is defective - sprung part that attaches to stem is weak - need a slight pull to engage crown to stem - only fix is gen crown and tube (we don't stock these)." Any suggestions on how to fix? I can't even set the time on the watch.
  2. I have an unused Blacksteel, serviced by The Zigmeister. He mentioned the crown was messed up and that he couldn't fix it. I can't adjust the time anymore on it. Any ideas on how to get this fixed would be most appreciated - it's a beauty.
  3. Here's the URL: http://qlocktwo.com/info.php?lang=en
  4. Just a heads up that it took 25 days for my HKTan strap to come from BKK to CONUS....it was stuck in Thai customs for ~3 weeks. But arrive it did, and Aaron was very good with comms.
  5. Hello - Chief recommended I ping you...PM doesn't seem to be working.

I have an IWC 3717 that needs a service, and an IWC Portugese that has a problem with the sec@6 and needs service too. I'm located in the US.

Are you able to service these watches? If so, could you let me know logistics and price, please?

    Thanks,

    Sam

  6. Just got my new PAM288 with the standard rep calf strap (which is pretty decent IMO), but was curious to see pix of other straps folks had used on it?
  7. I'm curious if people can recommend US-based watchsmiths/enthusiasts who can service reps? I'm less interested in lume/AR, and just in getting these creaky A7750 movements serviced to keep them going. I've used The Zigmeister in the past, but he's usually busy, and Vac is not easy to get ahold of either. Any other suggestions are hugely welcome. Thanks, Sam
  8. Interesting that you have a $100k+ car, but choose to buy a rep Panny. I'm that way too....can't fake the performance of a real sports car, but a rep gets me most of the bang that a gen watch would
  9. About to buy this Blacksteel from Angus. He's sent pre-delivery QC pix. Any thoughts on the quality of the dial, and the stats from the timegrapher?
  10. Indeed - I found this very useful link explaining how to use it. The inner geek in me is delighted! http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/12/10/how-to-use-tachymeter-function-on-watch-bezel-usage-instruction-and-definition/
  11. A noob question - but what exactly does the bezel do other than look very studly? It doesn't rotate - so what does it measure?
  12. LOL..the irony of watching a pirated (torrent) show about piracy is quite delicious
  13. After four months in a land far away, the Pilot is back after ETA Day/Date wheels, lume, The Zigmeister-service, and Chieftang's double-AR. Here are some pix to celebrate its return - and what better way for a Pilot to be feted than in the company of the Red Baron?
  14. I am through with the Blackbird - the messed-up pearl aside, both the watches I got had issues with the chrono or the stem. The dealer took them back and refunded me the $$, but the A7750 on these seemed messed up. Others have discussed similar issues on the forum (of course, this is not to imply every ONE of them is messed up, but caveat emptor 2x on these).
  15. A watch I have cherished and desired for a long long time - yes, I know about the sec@6 issue, but what a beauty. She just landed after a long flight from the Middle East. Blue hands, blue numerals, on cobalt blue Bob gator. Simply stunning! And early next week her brother the Pilot wings back from Canada, post The Zigmeister-fication/new DW/lume/Chief AR. What a pair they're going to make!
  16. Doc - many of these "cheap" reps in the pix look exactly that - cheap one you put them on under a nice dress shirt and expensive suit - the gold finish isn't really a heavy, dull authentic look. Why not an IWC 3717 (unmodded at $250 or so), or a gen vintage Omega that can be had on the 'bay for about $300? If you're going for the dressy look, I'd push beyond the $100 marker....
  17. Here's mine from TWP, awaiting a real strap from Bob
  18. You might want to PM HKTAN here - he had some personal issues to take care of a little while ago, so replies were a little slower in coming.
  19. They also have some issues with shipping to the US (do it for some models, not for others). I've found another source for these on TZ - just search their sales forum for a dealer called Walt. He was advertising them for $59.
  20. The watch comes off before I climb into bed, and comes back on after the gym and shower as I dress for work...I scratched a crystal years ago when I banged my arm against the headboard, and after that have never worn a watch to bed (which also leads to a lack of real interest in lume). At night, I use my trusty Panasonic radio alarm clock that still works 20+ yrs after I bought it
  21. The general wisdom here is the you should go for 22mm on the 3717, not 21, since 21 will leave some of the springbar exposed. I was cruising around on TZ yesterday and saw some excellent straps for the 3717. The Di-Modell ones looked particularly yummy - just search there for "pilot strap".
  22. I'm curious how this gang feels about "on time"? What is your personal MO about adhering to a schedule? I, for one, am compulsively punctual, and am always landing up early for appointments, flights etc. I think this (sometimes annoying) habit arose as compensation for watching my dad always cut it really really fine when it came to getting to meetings...he hated "wasting time" as he called it, and planned things down to the very minute. We were always the family that boarded the plane just as the doors were closing I am therefore pretty "anal", as the Yanquis say, about getting there early. And get irritated by others who are late (years of therapy, I know!) What about you? All those COSC-precise watches, are we putting them to good use?
