Are you sure that is not Rolli's prototype? His looks every bit as good. Did you see the prototype Panerai Dagger Adam is offering for $47,000? And it doesn't even say Panerai on it.

Well I guess you will think twice about wearing a rep to an AD. But as was previously said I would wait three times before walking into Tourneau. They are the worst. They are useful for comparing gen to rep though. Breitling straps are readily available anywhere You don't have to walk into an AD. Most will take the order over the phone with a credit card. And if they won't they probably can't get you the part without months wait.

CC- Have a great time. And make sure you find an internet cafe along the way to update us on your trip. All the best, Kruz

Hey Rolli- Adam over at Risti is offering the gen for $200k or so. Take a look. I do think a limited offering would be very well received.
-
In truth between the loss in the currency and what is clearly a full blown recession I do believe that even American demand of reps is going to suffer. I still can't wait for this one though. It is one of a very few I am looking forward to this year.

Good to see Geek is back up and running. It is still slow on my end but hopefully that will change. r11co- Stop beating a dead horse (oops, I mean banned one). TTK is gone from RWG, from its predecessor, from TRC and from RWI. I am always pleased to see loyal people. But bringing him up around here is a waste of time. You know where to go. It's the last place left with any sympathy for him and its back up and running.

tazzman- Please review it when you get it. I have seen the watch at an AD and it is beautiful. If it is that good than it will be a must have for those who like big watches. Thanks for the alert. I haven't bought a new rep in quite a while. And I do have to add that in spite of all my whining about the price I have been getting enjoyment and jealous stares from other folks on my ceramic bezel HBB while on vacation at the beach. And yes $450 appears to be the new basic price for upper end reps. Then again $450 was $350 a year ago (from a currency perspective).

Whats a reasonably sized rep collection?
Watchmeister replied to DemonSlayer's topic in General Discussion
That is definitely personal opinion and you will often find that it changes over time for the same person. When I started I bought everything. Than I got bored with that and moved into a smaller number of highly modded and frankensteins. Some folks go the next level and end up with gens only. It is all a big cycle. But I suspect you will still find yourself hanging around here. -
Are there any pam cases out there for sale as good as the jimmyZfu?
Watchmeister replied to wan's topic in General Discussion
I didn't think the Jimmy cases were that rare or expensive. I have always been able to get them when I made the request. The CG is another story but you can always use a better rep cg instead. -
T-19 has nothing on me - Kenzo 3646 with all the trimmings
Watchmeister replied to Watchmeister's topic in The Panerai Area
I have been talking to Kevin over at risti who is doing the case project and they are spectacular. They are also expensive and would IMHO only make economic sense with a vintage movement. The cases should be offered in the near future. He is also working on a dial and hands but he had no time frame and the cases have taken more than 2 years. He is having 20-30 made and he will have some extra. I will mention it in the forum when they are finished for those who are interested. -
The one forum left where TTK is allowed to post anymore and it's down? Bad karma.

Thanks for the tips guys. TK- As chief says it is not anyone's cyclops. I took the enhanced crystal/cyclops and improved datewheel from a 199. Everything else about that watch was not particularly good so I made the best of it.

Yeah, I know the pics suck. And the really pathetic thing is I have this fancy Nikon SLR and I have no idea how to use it. I still haven't figured out how to focus it to get a wrist shot.

VDBroucke- Holy cow! That is a fabulous collection. Tootall- The watch is not with me and I am headed out of town for a couple of weeks but I will look when I get back. I am anything but an expert and so I relied on the wonderful folks around here for help. That is what makes RWG so great. -

Usual Rolex/Cortebert movement. A fellow member was good enough to source it for me. -

That is one beautiful case. I actually have an unengraved case back from Kenzo and am just deciding what to engrave on it. For now I like to stare at the movement. -

I am off for vacation in a day or two to a Carribean resort so this will definitely be one of the three I will bring. I always bring one gen, one rep and one franken. This one is the franken. On the rep side I am thinking of the Swiss HBB Mellow Yellow and on the gen we will just have to see. -
With the roller on the tip of the lever you are going to have to do some reearch. I can't say that I know all the models that came with that crown guard. If it had been a generic historic cg I would have suggested a Pre-V (Slytech or something like that).

Watchmeister replied to Watchmeister's topic in The Panerai Area
The case is Kenzo so it is 3-4 years old. In all honesty it is not that different than some of the other cases offered and if you have the patience all these cases have enough metal so that you can do some reshaping. Beano was offering one that had some nice case rework on it from Finepics. But yes, I do like Kenzo's stuff. -
You can tackle it one of two ways. You can either file down the inside of the case tube and then use gaskers to insure proper sealing from the elements. Alternatively you can replace the case tube and someone else may be able to tell you what size tubing to you. Someone but I do not recall who had mentioned surgical tubing but it is all second hand as I have yet to do one myself but virtually every 2892/3 and 7750 based watch has been done at this point. And in fact I have had it done to all the aforementioned movements. Remember that you will also have to adjust the crown guard lever. Someone else can chime in.

Somehow the thought of tossing coins around a 70 year old movie (oops ,movement I happen to be watching one right now) scares the crap out of me. I would love to do it but the fact that is keeping fabulous time as is stops me from doing it. -
Looking really good. This year is my original movement vintage PAM year. Next year I aspire to do what you have done.

Half the fun is bashing it. Frankly I also need to do a little case nicking as well. -
Ziggy did it.

Here is the latest vintage project. Enjoy it. WM 3646 with WM dial and hands, monster custom plexi and you can see the movement. It ain't no Poljot. I can't take credit on this one as friends really did it all for me. The friends shall remain anonymous as I suspect they do not want to be inundated with requests - but you know who you are and I am deeply grateful.
