  1. The reason why this loop had died was that it has nothing to do with RWG. Crippler is not a licensed practitioner here. It is nice that someone sounded a warning but your time would be better served getting him banned from whatever forum he is participating on currently (if he still is). Most importantly, I do hope people are successful in getting their watches or money back.
  2. My preference is toward leather as well. But if you have several (rep or gen) the bracelet is a nice change.
  3. Thanks for pointing this one out. I can't tell from the picture if that bracelet tapers down. It is also interesting to see how the screws do not extend over all the links. I do like the original design bracelet but would like to see this one when it comes out.
  4. Well, I am old school. Nothing newer than F series - so no new strap changing system, no roller on the cg, no Cotes de Geneve engraving. Heck, not even a historic CG or sandwich dial. What has been getting wrist time lately is a relatively new (to me) old school base. But I have to admit my highly modded reps still get the most wrist time. Gens cost money. One-off reps require love.
  5. Do you own those? I hope you have the appropriate accoutrement to go with it.
  6. Ah, very tricky. So let's go with trivia. What was the last luminor chrono to come with cg lever towards 12?
  7. But which way do the chrono crownguards face?
  8. It has been interesting in the gen world that the 45mm 7day has not been so successful. It is already discounted well below the Big Pilot on a percentage basis. I think it is great looking but it is clearly the poor step child to the Pilot. By the way the Inge 7-day is a display back as well so I am expecting the Big Pilot to come first from the rep manufacturers if either one does.
  9. The E movement also known as the "panerai panerai" engraved movement was discontinued around the g series. It was replaced with simpler cotes de geneve finish. The 127 is an E series and it so it had the earlier movement. So the 127 with H movement is a fantasy watch. The 217 which is the left handed version of the Fiddy is an H series and comes with the later movement. So the H movement certainly exists and is what you see on clear back hand winds today.
  10. Because they ran out of E movements. Now you can always throw the crown guard on the left hand side and call it a 217.
  11. $1,000 for a PAV strap? I thought I was nuts paying $300 a couple of years ago. On second thought I am a genius. But seriously I think that color in general looks really good with PVD.
  12. Try this - PAV 99: Needless to say, the buckle matches.
  13. I look forward to the answer. I am going to finish an old one up this year but there the inevitable question of the dial. The only dial I am aware of with the correct T swiss T is Davidsen's but having never seen a gen I am suspicious of the dial color.
  14. Lanikai- You are not the first person (nor will you be the last) for whom the question arises. And to the best of my knowledge no one is seriously accusing you. So I would suggest you rest easy. Your reviews are always spot on. I might suggest a little less editorializing.... -Kruz
  15. I missed this loop. Thank god for the invention of the Speed channel here in the U.S. We don;t get every race but I love them when they do show up. I still miss the Foggy days though. It was getting tiresome watching Ducati win every race for 7 years though. Completely off-topic but has anyone bought one of the newer bikes which are generating tremendous horsepower using Motogp technology? I am thinking about getting a naked sportsbike this year but have no idea where to start. Dani- As an ignorant American I look forward to your reports.
  16. If you stick to your strategy on the 3717 of keeping the Asian movement in it until it dies the newer High beat 7750 is a more reliable movement. And as someone mentioned if you have it serviced you may never change it. However if and when you want to swap to Swiss you will need a watchsmith who can adapt the hands to fit a different cannon pinion. It certainly can be done but you do need access to a good watchsmith.
  17. Lanikai- Well now I may be a little confused but here are the facts I have gleaned: - There is now a rep of a rep being sold by a different factory for less money. It is not unusual for different versions to emerge. Hopefully it is less money and people can choose based on their budget. If it is not less money and is inferior to what is readily available that is an important point to be made so that people are not misled. - It is mentioned that there is only one collector selling the item and he is not showing pictures of the actual item being sold. Obviously this is not good. If it is happening here we want to know about it. Based on your last post it is clear you are referring to TWP. When I look in his section I see he has not relisted that particular item here since November where IMHO he clearly was using the prototype pics which many of us were privy to prior to release. Based on the price in that listing I would have guessed it is the original piece. Someone who has bought it from him should review it. As for Repgeeks and RWI where it sounds like the lite version is currently being offered I asume you have posted the same concern; - But the other implication of the last post is that you believe the modder is more generally offering modded watches at higher prices which in reality are being done at the factory with ensuing quality control issues and he is charging as if he had a craftsman do it. IMHO, this should be a separate post as it is a larger issue. I hope this is not the case. In any case pictures are worth a 1,000 words and we should have some feedback shortly as to whether this is the case as he has been conducting his respect sale. Those people who are jumping in head first should know what they are getting themselves into. There is no free lunch. Finally, another lower cost version from a different factory is never troubling. HBB Lite has allowed many folks who could not otherwise buy one to enjoy theirs. Selling that lesser version as a premium version is.
  18. Welcome to the fabulous U.S. Post Office. There are many loop holes and no postal worker knows them all. I do ship watches and watch parts (both gen and other) and have encountered ridiculous inconsistencies. I can't remember what is what but I sent many packages fully insured through one UPS service until 20 packages later I was informed by a veteran postal employee that watches and a couple of other types of items are not insurable through that particular service.
  19. Congrats to all. Stephane - you folks organized one heck of an event.
