  1. THe MBK limited edition came with genuine dial and hands.
  2. I am wondering if this one of the half dozen MBK's with ETA 2892 and DD module that were being offered for $3,700 (2,500 Euros) a few months back.
  3. The solution is to have both (in a WISical world that is).
  4. Congratulations on a fabulous deal. It has always been one of my favorite watches since it came out. They are readily available between $9,500 and $10,000 but at that price you had to buy it. Wear it well. We are all very jealous (but happy for you as well).
  5. I would be interested in buying this watch but the gold plating element scares me. If you are going to spend that kind of money you want the watch to last a lifetime. I presume you always run the risk that the plating wears away over some period of years,
  6. FGD- Why thank you. Someday I will have to do a crown essay here. After all, I do have quite the collection - both original Lello versions, Palp 1.9 and 2.1's, Homers, standard rep crowns from several different models and finally the gens.
  7. All I know is it is definitely PVD and definitely says Marina Militare on the bottom half of the dial. And I agree the numbers looked like tritium and fat. It could be 44m though. He may have a thick arm but he is only 5 foot 4 inches.
  8. The bad news is that I am sticking to who had previously ordered for now. The good news is that I will offer a few more in a week or two once I get everything from the last round sorted out. The funny thing is the interest only seems to increase when you say they are no longer for sale...
  9. Needless to say, it looks great. Wear it well. And I am loving that bracelet.
  10. Congrats to all on a very successful GTG. And I am glad to see that at least one person left with a new watch. Trading is half the fun.
  11. The spring loaded is exactly as it sounds. The key is the tiny nipple at the end of the crown's tube. Look at the little nipple where the threaded stem is stuck in. There is a small spring behind the nipple which causes the crown to pop open when the lever is released. By the way for all who ordered I will be getting back to you to confirm orders and accept payment.
  12. Couldn't get a good enough look. My guess is the crystal was flat and so unlikely to be a 1950. Also I would swear the crown guard looked more traditional historic than 1950'ish. Maybe someone else saw it. There were 2-3 good shots of the watch in the movie. I am wondering if it is a one-off.
  13. Took the kids to see it. Watch looked 47mm. I would guess ceramic. Dial definitely said Marine Militare on the bottom half. Did not see seconds at 9 though.
  14. I actually like Power reserves but the date adjustment button on the side of the 222 rep which does not exist on the gen ruins it for me. The 253 is a classic anyhow. Look for a version with the tick marks on the dial and sapphire crystal.
  15. Very nice post. And the pics are really well done. When By-Tor wants to pin it you know you have done a nice job.
  16. Although 1:1 should mean exact copy in all respects but of course it doesn't in real life. 1:1 equals gen. Let's face it this type of somewhat misleading advertising exists in the legitimate world as well. When I read 1:1 in a rep advertisement I don't expect it to be truly identical. But at a minimum I do expect the watch to have precise case measurements and reasonably close case finishing, same functionality, correct dial and hand color, proper placement and sizing of sub-dials, crown, pushers, etc.
  17. Lello- Great analysis. If he can get those dots it would make the rep much better.
  18. Let us know whether you are going to offer them to others. The other question I would ask is whether anyone has a more accurate font and can supply it to TD. He clearly has a good process and if anyone can improve on the font it will benefit all. My HBB came with the misaligned rotor sticker as well and Ziggy was good enough to properly align it and clear coat it when swapping out the movement. God knows how I will get it off but I do hope you offer them.
  19. Very nice tutorial. The pin looks really good. Wear it well.
  20. I really like the bracelet version as well. With the bracelet it has the same feel and look as a 44mm, dresses up well and fits under a shirt. And besides, Lucky Number Slevin was on cable last night. So my mind is made up.
  21. I am in the camp of folks very glad to see this one being repped. With a Blancpain heritage in styling and a nice large size I am excited. I had always wanted the real 50 Fathoms but with the price of the gen and the sizing it was not going to happen. When I first saw this one as a gen I immediately thought this was a great copy opportunity and a beautiful watch. Have a nice weekend all.
