  1. Now that is a step in the right direction. I hope the manufacturers will now focus on perfecting the "inner rotating bezel" mechanism as theyre on this one, the new JLC divers, Coustea's, non-chrono AP's.
  2. We are getting close and I suspect the requisite minimum will be met. But I did want to comment on the super reps and their crowns. IMHO they are not super. The only thing that is right about them is the width. Width may be right but usually one or more of the following issues are still there: teeth count is off, the depth of the teeth is off, bevel is off and as always is the case gen crowns have a much deeper recess. But IMHO the best part of the gen crowns which are by no means perfect for every model either is that they do what gen crowns are supposed to do. The spring loaded stem provides for proper seal and for that wonderful "pop" when you undo the crown guard. On the $35 crown I would love to hear more. Hearing what had been posted earlier I called a local AD. In the case of a watch under warranty you send it in and they put on a new crown. When I mentioned that the watch was out of warranty he said he would sell me a crown in the context of a full service since "any accident which ruined the crown must have impacted the movement." Have you priced out a service for an out of warranty gen PAM. It is cheaper to buy the movement. So if there is someone willing to sell parts off the books we all want to hear about it or you should organize a group buy. I would certainly be in.
  3. Fabulous review. I wasn't interested in it until I read your review. I never coveted Corum watches but it is very tempting.
  4. Just make sure whatever you are buying it for has the same date window placement and sizing.Just make sure whatever you are buying it for has the same date window placement and sizing.
  5. Wow, fabulous collection. It is the best I have ever seen and that includes some friends with impressive gen collections. Wear them well.
  6. in light of the Palp crown issue, I have now received a couple of inquiries on the gen crowns that people had previously bought. I had stopped ordering them as numerous people had participated and it looked like demand had been satisfied. Since a couple of friends on the forum have asked I am willing to do one more group buy if demand exceeds 10. I have attached the original post and those that are not familiar should read it. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...amp;hl=kruzer00 The headlines are the following: Cost is $67.00 each. All stainless and PVD come with 0.9 stems so they will only fit automatics unless you have a watch smith with rethreading capability. You should assume they are for automatics. The ti crowns (if he has any left) are all 1.2 so they will fit hand winds. All crowns are likely to require an adjustment to the cg lever and may require widening the casetube as well. So be forewarned. If you previously had a palp crown on the watch you would need a new CG or at least a new CG lever. This offering is for folks who know what they are buying. If you are truly interested please indicate interest at watchmeisters@gmail.com. If we get to 10 or more I will check with seller on availability, let people know and then you can then make payment. So don't send payment. Just indicate interest. Here are a couple of pics to give you a sense. You have all seen them before : - Kruz
  7. Pleased to hear. PM sent. I do need a couple.
  8. So the question is who wants to out him over there and confess they are active on the rep boards. I had never seen anyone confess other than Mark but I don't follow that forum very carefully. As it is the risti are incensed about fakes. I wonder in a sick way whether the risti's would be pleased to hear about people buying reps being ripped off. I am not talking about the folks who are already over here. Maybe I am being too cynical. At the end of the day each active risti will make their own decision.
  9. V brings up a good point. "Outing" him only makes sense if someone is a credible long time risti and really wants to pursue this quietly. I always wondered if those folks who are members of both RWG and risti ever fess up that they buy reps as well. I do own reps and gens but concluded that I prefer to quietly read what is on risti rather than get into the whole rep versus gen thing with a bunch of purists. And yes I find the general horological content is far higher here. On Mark, I continue to have mixed feelings. It sounds like there are plenty of people who have outright been ripped off. In my case he did his best to make me whole by returning everything he had and doing what he could. Unfortunately he also tried things that he could not handle. It was not a happy ending but I felt he had done what he could to rectify things and even did some extra polishing and things that he was capable of. The few forum members who I am close to think I am nuts and was simply taken advantage of. I will never knowMy feelings have now turned more to the negative now that I know he has moved on to Risti but more importantly is now buying gens and people here are out money. I will always believe (perhaps I am an optimist) that he did not join our form as a scammer. He got in way over his head. What is disappointing is that he ultimately fled. He is not the first and will not be the last.
  10. That crown looks good in terms of thickness. The bevel on the edges looks a little much. If it has 60 teeth I would keep it. The crown looks a little far off the case on that one. In any case it sounds like folks are having problems with the latest run so if you are going to do it tread carefully.
  11. Sorry to hear that. It must be the latest run. The ones I received a couple of months ago do not have that defect. And yes they are already in use.
  12. Tourby- The issue is not participating on both rep and gen forums. And I agree that you learn more about horology here than on most gen forums. The point is that Finepics left this forum owing money and watches to various people and has now reappeared on risti flashing gens.
  13. Marcus- Glad to hear you got all caught up with the orders. I know how difficult it can be.
  14. Refund the money? Not if you area burgeoning collector of gens.
  15. Wow, big birthday day! Admin and Pug in the same day. Happy Birthday guys! Enjoy the day.
  16. No, that crystal has Chief's single sided AR. As I look at everyone's pictures I see everyone else's watches are pristeen. Mine are all nicked and scratched. Do people ever wear their watches? FGD- That 236 looks awesome. KRUZ
  17. Great to see him back. Old school honorable and reliable dealer.
  18. . There really isn't much to say. We will never see him around here again. Actually it is a novel future defense if and when he is outed on the risti forum.
  19. Well mine is just back from the master so your timing is impeccable. IMHO, fully modded - single-sided AR, relume, hand swap, Lello datewheel and gen crown.
  20. B- Congrats on a successful group buy. I know how trying it can be.
  21. Dollar is now a third world currency. And I would guess the dollar gets worse not better. If you look at the commodity boom or even watch prices and the rise in underlying prices and subtract out the currency moves the price increases don't look nearly as impressive (read as bad). In the U.S. all the European car manufacturers are either jacking up prices to reflect the decline in currency or increasing manufacturing facilities in the U.S. China is not so stupid to fix the yuan (okay it floats a little - )
