  1. I've had mine for all of 24 hours and so far so good. I did stick it on the watch winder to see what happens. I am not as disappointed as others on the AR. It clearly has it and you would have to risk stripping it. On the delay on the day rotation versus the datewheel that is how my gen 7750's are as well. Don't know if it takes until 3 though. This one will have a brand new 17j shortly. Just got my movements in.
  2. RGM - I bought one of his a number of years ago when he made under a 1,000 units a year. Got a great price off of Timezone. IMHO, he makes better Guilloche dials than the inventor (Breguet). I laways thought he used ETA movements though. The layout on my chrono is the same as a 7750. The sad part is I haven't seen it in a couple of years. I know it is sitting in the house somewhere. Just not sure where.
  3. Marco- Funny you mention that. I too have collected crowns Lello (1st and 2nd gen), Homer, PAM, Palp but don't have a Davidsen.
  4. If you are into complications anything with a phases of the moon sub-dial. They always cheap out and end up with Day/Night.
  5. I got tired of owning a watch I never wear. It is tough for me to wear a rep of a gen which no one actually wears (too valuable) so I decided to convert my MBW Comex. This particular watch has great provenance as it was the first of subsequent Ziggified MBW's. The conversion project began when I was bitching to Ubi and he mentioned that he happened to have a white dial in that bottomless parts box of his (I am convinced it is bolted to the floor and there is a trap door underneath). So the dial was off to Ziggy for his vintage relume. Of course the watch had already had the benefit of casework, crown and tube, springbars and cg's by the Master. Add one of Ubi's custom inserts and you have one hell of a watch. Of course, it would not be complete without a vintage overlay. As this watch was one of the test watches for the Vintage Overlays this actually has an earlier version and not the final. Oh well, someday. Enough with the intro, here are the pics: Next up will be my 1680 (when I find that crystal).
  6. Great pics. Got mine yesterday. Your pictures do it justice.

  8. I have concluded they are definitely not gen. Whoever made the Turkey comment was right. Live and learn. Well, I will be getting them and will report my best guess as to who is making them.
  9. I would recategorize. After all the whole point of reps is so that there is no daily beater : Work Weekend Evening Sport There is no way I could narrow it down to one for each category nor do we have to.
  10. Now I am intrigued. Is "I quit" at the beginning of the movie?
  11. Mine landed today as well. It really is a good rep. No regrets either. The Thursday is off. I may well experiment with it and see if a different movement makes any difference.
  12. There is no such thing as "break-in" on that movement. The term of art is "broken down". Send it back.
  13. Crystal only. Hook up wit one of the watchsmiths here. And I don't mean hook up in my 14 year old's vernacular.
  14. I am betting harbinger of things to come. As the runs of reps now hit 1,000 at a time there must be some limitation on new movements available.
  15. If you paid a hefty Swiss price you should be getting a new movement. Unfortunately, it happens more often than people know. Since watches are made in large runs I suspect all of whatever you bought are using old movements or at least parts from cannibalized old movements. In itself old movements can be just fine but you have to be sure they are (and were) properly serviced. If parts really are worn out due to prior neglect as most parts should last for many years on a properly serviced watch than ask the dealer whether to send it back or get it serviced and then get a credit or money back from him. Other people may disagree.
  16. Datewheel, daywheel or both? It could make sense if they are usable on the GST Chrono's as well otherwise as far as I know Eddie has only sold 30 of a 100 total pieces. Well I guess it would be a labor of love. The tricky part is that the day wheel doesn't line up straight on all days on gens either. Always wondered why.
  17. Sorry to hear that. Although I would think it is bad luck it is a well known fact in the U.S. anyhow that DHL and FedEx are cooperating with anyone that asks. The interesting thing is that the only delivery organization that fights it is USPS. I always try and use EMS to USPS incoming.
  18. You went back to school? What were you thinking? Best of luck dude. Looking forward to your return.
  19. I was kind of wondering how many folks would show up in South Central Los Angeles.
  20. In any case, thanks for pointing these things out.
  21. Hmmmm! Just kidding but if you are going for it you should say so that other members (honorable ones that is) will leave it alone.
