Could be time for a new email address. I knew I should have gone with Fred Flintsone.
-
siwdivad- I am such an idiot. You guys suck. How about 00rezurk?
-
Actually, Ziggy is the real Ziggy. We did arouse his interest enough to get him to take a look. Hope springs eternal.

Someone had mistakenly said that the server was paid up thru sometime in 2007. I hate to say it but Blade is looking worse and worse. And everyone who bailed us lucky beneficiaries out are looking better and better. With that in mind, may I suggest (since I am not a Mod or Admin) that everyone who is intending on hanging around here quite a bit pay up for a year membership. If you can afford a rep you can afford the membership.

RBJ- Apologies. I forgot. Five dollars with "note" to be shipped out tomorrow.
-
Wow, I forgot about that one. The Yashica Mat is a classic. I think Rollei made one of those two. Is that a 4x5 format? Hey Mark, you are dating yourself.
-
As I suspected. Early Vendome (27,28,63. etc.) had smaller cyclops and perhaps higher magnification. The historicals and more modern have larger cyclops. IMHO 6mm looks much more clean as it is focused on the number and you are not staring at the date window (which of course does not match up exactly on the gens either). Stick with 6mm. It is all becoming clearer.

T-3 baby. Been there and done that. Dating myself again. Is Mamiya still around? I borrowed an RB-45 for quite a while froma good friend. The poor man's Hasselblad.

Great advice from a lot of people. TTK- Well now I know why you are a fabulous photographer. You have obviously done it for may years in very different environments and with many types of equipment. Thanks for a lot of very useful info. I love the idea of not having to reinvent the wheel when moving from kids in the pool to the watches or pens . My last nice camera was an F3 Hipoint (dating myself) so I am used to usinging old school controls. I find it shocking that the Nikon does not have the anti-shake feature. On the Canon it sounds like the key complaint is that the camera feels a lot less solid than some others. On the Minolta, I did not know that Minolta was discontinuing making cameras. That does give me pause. My wife just asked me when we are getting the camera. It's a good day. Now if that 187 would only arrive...

Mine is off to Ziggy in the next week for a movement swap (Swiss 7750), OEM dial I picked up for $10 on ebay and a lume job.
-
Humorous since I don't think you are waiting for that datewheel for a breitling. Besides there is only one decent Breitling rep (IMHO) and that is the Chrono Avenger.
-
I am waiting on multiples. I spoke with Mark yesterday and he should be getting them back from the printer this week. He will post here for sure. No worries.
-
Hi admin- You are absolutely right. It will come down in price. If I had the freak on my wrist I would be patient too.
-
Don't do it. There's no fun in that.

ssurfer- The remainder of my post is rambling. I think My point was that I have always been thinking we would end up with Sapphire and I like the idea of using sapphire cyclops on sapphire crystal. In my limited modding experience the least expensive way has often ended up costing me more because I have to redo it. In this case, if the sapphire is not too expensive (and that is what is on the gens) it should be good enough for us. swdivad- I was referring to joining this particular loop. Or did you have a different name in another forum life?
-
Nope. But now I know that by hook or by crook I will be getting one. If I happen to end up with two (doubtful), I will sell one. And yes, if that happens I will offer it here. But at this point I have no idea.
-
90 or 99? Mine is still awaiting the watch.
-
By the way, I also suspect you will have 2 or more choices on improved crowns. Folks are now getting their hands on CNC machinery and so we are only now beginning to see how much the rep aftermarket stuff can be.
-
Swdivad- I think that will be helpful. Nice to see a new member joing the cyclops fray. After many days of discussion back and forth it is clear (as with many things) that the more we know the more confusing it gets. Estaban- Ye of little faith. We are going to end up with 5.9-6.0 mm Sapphire cyclops and I will bet we can meet or beat the gen magnification.

You mean kcabesac don't you? Here are the pics from Ken's site where Quarks bought the watch: http://www.etaworldgoods.com/panerai1.htm As Quarks mentioned elsewhere, Ken is acting as one (or the) international rep of Watchonpo so stay tuned to his site. His prices are high but the product is good. He is relatively new and just gearing up so he will be adding stuff. He currently has limited selection but is very courteous. He does not take pp though. But in fairness, it has been quite a while since Watchonpo inventory was available using pp.

Archibald- You're comment is funnier than you know. Alot of those hedge funds are my clients. I once calculated that there is approximately $500-750 million of hedge fund money within a 15 block radius of my office. Unfortunately, I missed that boat. :nopity: (great smiley). But you are right I will err on the side of expensive as every time I have tried to cheap out I end up redoing it. Also, on the original movement sapphire reps, give them what they deserve. Glass - nope. Flint glass - the problem of extreme temperatures is reminiscent of exactly what kills gens. Just ask Breitling owners. Sapphire on sapphire just makes sense to me. But that is not intelligent sense - just common sense. Of course this is coming from the least knowledgeable person on this thread. But then again that is what gives me the confidence (ignorance) to be an anchor order on every cockamamie idea (although this is not one). Hey boys - I love this place. Irrelevant I know but I am a happy guy.

Edge and Pugwash's Guide to Photographic Software
Watchmeister replied to Edge's topic in Knowledgebase
Ken - Now I can't wait to get home to play with the software. -
Sapphire is the way. Sssurfer- I do have a real concern with that gen pic. I see gens all the time and I swear that is the smallest date I have seen in a gen. But I am no expert. Here are some pics from Gen 2893's (they are not great but they are what I have): 27A: 28A: Where it gets more confusing is that I believe the gen Power reserve actually has two lenses (one directly above the date wheel in addition to the cyclops)

Can you tell me who has the best reps
Watchmeister replied to Finepics's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
Hey Finepics- I just noticed this. Welcome fellow noob. I have had very good buying experiences with extreme ripoffs. Courteous and prompt communication. And they even sell their "Swiss Replica" at a 20% discount to list on the gen. A must see. By the way, gave the kids cereal and quieted them down. I am going camera shopping in the next day or two and I think I will put all the 7753 date wheels back. By the way, I love the new avatars. :claire: But who is Claire? -
Estaban- Great to see you on the other side. Life is good.
