Little coffee geek there? :) Cheating Miss Silvia?

I like that machine, got it for my father two years ago. I use a Isomac Zaffiro.

But my milk won't look as good as yours ever.

Val.

Coffee is my other hobby. Besides watches, playing golf and riding my motorcycle through the black forrest :)

I am pretty much a starter with my coffee addiction. I hope my "latte art" will get better in future. So what I want to say is that there are probable 5.9 billion people out there that can do it better.

The key is the texture of the milk. I am still trying...

What you need: A mill, an espresso machine and a watch. Yes, you really need a watch.

After only one hour the coffee loses about 40% of the ethereal oils that are the reason for it's flavour. So only fresh powdered coffee should be used.

Push it baby...

That's how it should look like after compressing the coffee on the portafilter.

Insert the portafilter

A good espresso needs about 30 seconds (have a look at your watch!) for only 25ml. Faster makes it less tasteful, slower will kill the golden brown crema on top and will make it too bitter.

Your espresso should look like this now:

Some cold milk. More fat makes it a lot easier to get a nice milk froth. Take whole milk with at least 3.5% fat.

Full throttle!

The volume of the milk has nearly doubled.

At this point you should avoid taking pictures and instead try to be fast with your desired theme:

Take a toothpic and some of the crema. You can write with it!

So now you know what watch I was wearing:

Are Val and I the only coffee geeks here?
