eurotimez case question - drsd or similar rep project

hi newbie so please go gentle

i've done a search but not turned up what im looking for..

i have a rolex replica of unknown parentage that i was given and its not great with the exception of the movement and the strap; japanese ETA movement looses about 10 sec's a week, and the strap is pretty good; hollow middle links, nice clasp, etc. Its not 100% correct but apart from the clasp its pretty spot-on (and I like the way the clasp works ).

i am considering transplanting the movement and strap to another case and build a beater GWSD/RSD/DRSD, pref an old/worn looking one as I love the worn-in look.. i understand there probably isn't a genuine DRSD beater in existance anywhere in the world, but i don't really care, its going to be a day-to-day watch with the look I'm after (doesn't need to be 100% correct for the time being, im going to work on it over time collecting bits as i go).

does anyone know whether the 1680 and similar cases on eurotimez would take an ETA movement, also whether they are suitable for this sort of project or whether i should save my money for the time being do it more justice with a "better" movement, face, hands, etc, etc right from the get-go?..

also how much modding should i be looking to do to a case like this before fitting everything (eg. CG shaping) if I want to get it cosmetically as close as poss to start with (I will add things like a better pearl, bezel, etc. asap and more expensive things over time)

like i said it doesnt need to be 100% spot on but i'd like it to be close.. this is the weathered look i'm after (sorry for the pic hijack; its courtesy (but without permission) of "bigcrown".. I'm not sugesting this watch is a beater or anything like im going to produce as its obvious from the advert this is an absolute work of art!..

any help or advice anyone can give me would be fab, this is the first timepiece project i've ever undertaken and im getting quite excited by the prospect already!

Welcome aboard! You've come to the right place. Now you just have to spend some time reading and learning.

The DRSD is a beautiful watch, and Big Crown's example is one of the best frankens out there. But for a beginner, you might want to check out some of the dealers like Paul who has an economy DRSD:

This watch isn't the greatest but it's a good starter watch.

If you want to spend more money, you could get an MBW/MBK from someone like Eurotimez

It'll cost you more, but it'll be a better watch- the DRSD w/ a verified 'swiss' eta will run $400 plus s&h.

But you can do more with this watch than Paul's.

Also, you might pay some money and become a supporter here- that will give you access to the dealers section, and maybe you'll find a DRSD for sale that fits your needs. Good luck.

You can also buy an MBW1665 case(not advertised) from eurotimez which comes with, crystal, bezel and insert, crown and movement holder for eta all for about $180. Your existing dial doesn’t look to bad so you could go down this route using your existing dial and movement. If the dial won’t fit eurotimez sells replacements for $65.
