Franken daytona project

Hi all,

I am a little bit crazy and want to start a 16520 project.

First of all, my base is a 16520 with swiss valjoux 7750 sec@9.... but from when I knew RWG I decided that I cannot live with its flaws even if the typical subdial spacing flaw is not a problem for me.

So: I decided to:

- put a gen crown and rework the CG

- put a better dial

- make the bezel flatter (not changing it, only pushing it and make it flatter than now in order to make the crystal more heigh)

- clark crystal

Excepet the clark crystal do you know where can I find the crown and the 16520 dial that fit a 7750??

p.s. Did someone make the same franken as me?

Thanks all!

Nobody wants to help me?

Hey Marcox! I beat if you upgrade your membership, people will chime in.......just my thought! You could also PM freddy and ubi.......they're the resident expert

on these watches! Hopefully they're not too busy! You could also send a shoutout to The Zigmeister.......he might be able to help you, if he's around and and not too busy himself!

I have no earthly idea where you can find a better dial- you're probably going to have to be happy with the standard 7750 based rep dial. Subdial spacing is off, but those are the breaks.

Crown is easy- ebay, 24-703-0 and you'll have to get a case tube to go with it- gen crown won't fit the old rep case tubes and I doubt your case has the new rep case tube which is a copy of the gen case tube. You'll also need a tap and case tube wrench to install the tube.

I see that freddy and I concur!

Reality can be a bitch! I'm sorry but I'm afraid you might be SOL!

The only thing I can think of is to see if Silix has any of the old style 7750 Daytonas w/ the running seconds at 9 and buy a whole nother watch w/ a different dial. You could build a franken w/ a gen dial and a Zenith movement, but that will run over $2k.

Agree with the others- Unfortunately, not much in terms of dial options out there for the 7750 secs@9:00 set up. Not a lot of support for that one :(

I do have this aftermarket dial, but it's for an El Primero 400; subdial spacing, dial feet, etc. will not line up, center pin hole too small for the 7750 so it's a moot point...

I believe that building a franken 16520 would be more than 2k for me 'cause I m not a watchmaker...
