William Campbell
While trying to adjust the timing on my watch, the part, which I do not know what it is called, came off. There is a spring attached to it and it is just hanging off the watch. There is actually a piece of sharp wire that broke off the spring. The part looks like a circle and is located at the bottom center of photo. Can this be repaired? And would a watch smith be willing to do this type of work. I am afraid my watch is ruined. ubiquitous
You'll need a new balance.
AstroAvia
Well, repairable it certainly is. Easily repairable: that's a whole another story. The part that came off is related to the balance wheel assembly, and your report suggests broken pieces. If it is a new watch, contact the dealer; otherwise, take it to a watchsmith and ask his opinion.
AstroAvia
Another picture, taken with the rotor in another position so as to show the balance wheel, would be useful.
