metaljesus
Hey all. Just had an interesting message from King, we were talking about a couple of things and she included the following line (she knows im a Monaco freak). "And about the Tag Heuer Monaco already get back original. It was marking now. When the watch made finish. I will let you know first and get first one." As usual its a little hard to decipher, I assume that "marking" should be "making". So who knows, maybe we'll have a new (hopefully decent) rep in a couple of months. If so i'll write a damn comprehensive review

PaulVanDyk
yeah i'd be great if they finally made an accurate Monaco...keeping my fingers crossed (same goes for PAM 312) but if its as "good" as the 24 concept - they are just wasting time. LapTime
Yesss! I think i speak for many members when i say....IT'S ABOUT DAMNED TIME! Now lets see a good rep of the Monza, as well! (personally, i like the Monza better than the Monaco)
docblackrock
Us old-timers have heard it all before I'm afraid. Not cynical but I wouldn't blow your wads just yet. Will require a mod of the new movement to be halfway accurate, and that will be expensive. Let's wait and see. @Laptime, here's a little something to keep you warm

Pugwash
When they replicate the 2894 movement, it opens the door to a whole lot of reps.

docblackrock
Have confirmation from my source However no details yet Confirmation without details is not confirmation worth getting excited about. Ask your source a simple question....what movement is going in this new Monaco. The answer will speak volumes.
docblackrock
When they replicate the 2894 movement, it opens the door to a whole lot of reps. You just cut and pasted that from the 2006 thread didn't you?
metaljesus
I dont think any of us are expecting perfection. Personally I'd be happy(ish) with a better looking quartz rep. Edited August 6, 2009 by metaljesus

Pugwash
You just cut and pasted that from the 2006 thread didn't you? Pretty much. I'll say it again next year, too. "The new one would be use asian 7750 movement." Interesting. It'll be crap then.
metaljesus
It'll be crap then. Because the seconds at 3 version of the 7750 is what? Fragile? Inaccurate? Im still learning about movements.

chefcook
Isn't there a version of the A7750 replicating the dial configuration of the 2894? I think the Bell & Ross reps use it!
LapTime
What about the new compact subdial A7750? The one that they're using in some of the new Omega reps?
metaljesus
Could someone who thinks an A 7750 is a deal-breaker drop some knowledge about why they think it is?
ubiquitous
Well, take into consideration that the 2894 is 6.1mm in height, while the base 7750 is 7.9mm; the standard 7750 alone will require a thicker case to accomodate it (we're talking almost 2mm here). Consider that a modified 7750 relocating the seconds to 3:00 will require additional plates, etc. for the transfer gears (which will only add to the height), the result will mean that any rep utilizing this movement will be inaccurate in dimension compared to it's 2894 gen counterpart. i.e. the case will be too thick and bulky. If the rep is to use the same measurements for the diameter of the case as per the genuine, this will mean that the watch will be largely unbalanced and clumsy. Sadly, due to the complex nature of the DD module, I don't think a proper 2894 clone will be a possibility for us. Personally, I'd be more than content with a manual wind vintage variation... Easier to do, and with a Heuer logo on the dial (minus the TAG portion of it), I'd be even more excited about it.

LapTime
So has King or anyone else's source made mention of a more accurate Monza rep? The two are often talked about in the same breath, so it's only natural!
