Wow, super cool movement, that. Waaay out of my price range, but something to aspire to for sure. I would imagine that the Spring Drive movement probably has longer service intervals than a traditional mechanical movement as well.

The bracelet is a pain in the ass to resize, but not so bad if you have the right tools. The pins are just a really tight interference fit. I found that a pushpin thumbtack helped motivate the pin the last 1/4 way out.

I figured as much. Best to go with who you know is good, eh? Wouldn't want a local boy screwing up an expensive and complex movement like this. I'll try to get in touch with Zig and/or Vac after the holidays. Cheers!

I bought this exact watch for my GF for our 1 year anniversary. She's not a watch person but she loves it! It really is a cracking deal. It's very well nailed together, and a damned fine replication to boot. If you're looking at getting a watch for a lady in your life, i would look hard at this. For the price you can't beat it!

So i've decided that I should get my TaG Carrera serviced. It has the usual A7750 (high beat) engine in it, and so far has run flawlessly (going on 1yr 9months). I want to keep it for many years to come, so I figure that a good service is in order. My question is this; can I leave this in the hands of a local watch smith, or is this something best left to the guys with experience on this movement? I understand that they're tricky to find parts for, tricky to work with, and that its best to have someone work on them who's done many in the past. My fear with the local guy is that he wouldn't do such a thorough job with it, or couldn't source parts, etc etc. That said, can anyone reccomend a good 'smith in Colorado?

Here ya go, some quick 'n dirties. My photog skills suck at best, but it gives you a decent idea. The dial really makes this watch, the MOP just pops in certain lights.

That was my thought too. The black dial looks out of place, IMO. The watch is very shiny (everything is polished), so I think a black dial with white diamond markers & bezel just looks odd. But thats just me. I'm still for the MOP dial, because it really changes character depending on the angle. I can try and snap some pics if you still want.

I bought that exact watch (Link Ladies, from Reg no less) in Mother Of Pearl for my lady for our 1 year just a few weeks ago. So my vote is for the MOP dial, it really looks great in person. Even better; shes not a watch person...i will corrupt her yet!

I know its a little outside of RWG's realm of wristwatches, but I thought it might be fun to have a stopwatch to play around with. Been looking on ebay, and there are whole piles of vintage stopwatches out there for fairly reasonable prices. Even some vintage Heuers and Breitlings for (relatively) low prices. There are quite a few russian stopwatches on the 'bay (in soviet russia, watch times you?) for next to nothing, including some cool split timer models. Anyone have any input on this corner of Horology?

Wicked cool...i would buy one in a heartbeat if i could. Wonder if this sort of tech would ever catch on. Probably not - considering how well established the traditional mechanical movement is - but its fun to think of the possibilities. The engineering involved in this is just tremendous...wow...
