  1. Another vote for the Porsche from me. It's on my 'list' as well...sweet watch!
  2. Definitely a Replica. The genuine version looks like this... Yours looks like it has a quartz movement, where the gen has an automatic chronograph. One of the quickest tells on a Monaco rep is to look at the subdials (size, markings, spacing...). Hope that helps! Good trade for fixing a computer, nonetheless.
  3. Thinking of getting a NATO strap for the heat of summer, as leather is too hot, and rubber can be pretty hot too (steel is ok, though). Where would all you NATO lovers recommend picking one up at? Somewhere locally or just on the Internets (ebay, etc). Also wondering if you need special springbars for a NATO strap, or if the stock ones will work. Probably be picking up some nicer springbars anyways, as the stock ones in my watches are pretty wimpy (was thinking something like these, they're quite a bit thicker than stock). Cheers!
  4. That's me! Seriously, I get out of school with my Bachelors. Takes me 6 months to get a job (working directly with Chrysler), I worked for 6 mos, and then I was laid off (being the most inexperienced person). Been out of work since November, and i've only had about 5 interviews since then...its just brutal. Being that I'm highly inexperienced, I'm finding it difficult to jump to a different industry (I'll take anything that's not Automotive right about now). Really considering going back to school. At this point...it's looking like the best option....
  5. I'm confident this mod makes for a pretty solid water resistant watch, but don't forget that static and dynamic water pressure are two very different things!
  6. Check out this thread... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=663986 There are some wrist shots and more info in there. Nice watch...buy one and wear it well!
  7. Heh...ain't that the truth! Did this mod to my POrikaa over the weekend. First time i had ever taken a watch apart, and it was a piece of cake! So all you n00bs out there who are worried about doing this, don't sweat it. Instead of bathroom rubber sealant, I used some JB Weld that I had lying around the house. Worked great, and it most definitely will never leak! The one tip I have to add is to be very delicate and precice when you are applying your putty/epoxy, and definitely mask off the area around the He valve to minimize your mess. I used toothpicks to apply the epoxy, and you really dont need much at all. Let it set up for about 18 hours, put everything back together...now i'm ready for a swim! Thanks for the great walkthrough!
  8. Doubt this will be leaving my wrist for the weekend.... Have a great weekend everyone!
  9. Very very cool, I love that Carbon Fibre dial! Where did you pick that up? Might just have to get one for myself....
  10. Very cool. Sharp & modern looking design. I like it!
  11. Most of the responses here echo my sentiments. Unlike most of us, I came to reps looking for a TAG Heuer, not a Rolex. Rolexes were far from my mind, actually. I figured their price, it might look a little out of place on the wrist of a young 20-something. I guess i never really got the whole Rolex facination. And I really wanted a Daytona (still do) thanks to the 24 Hours of Daytona. Fast forward a couple months, and I buy a n00bmariner - for $108, i figured why the hell not? Once I got it, i realized just why everyone loves these things. What a great watch. Not only is the Submariner an effing legend (probably the genesis of most modern sports watches), but its real beauty is in its versalitility. The sub works in almost any situation. T shirt, shorts, and sandals...formal dress...mountain climbing...you name it. Nice looker too, very subtle and understated (for some reason I expected a rolex to be very flashy). I still like my TAGs and Omegas better, but Rolex is growing on me. Before RWG I had only really known about the Daytona and Sub, but now my eyes have been opened to other great models like the Milgauss and Explorer. Plus you can't deny the prestige behind Rolex, they simply make some of the best watches on the planet from their durability to status, reliability, mystique, etc.... I'm sure i'll be adding another to my collection sometime soon. That said, I still think too many people have them.
  12. Ah, ok...thanks for clearing that up. Looks like i'll be doing this mod after all.
  13. Thanks BT, it's actually the 42mm POs that narikaa is selling. What relation it has to the 3rd gen, im not sure...still new here! Big TAG fan...love the Aquaracer, that one might just have to go on my wishlist....
  14. My latest...landed yesterday... This one wont likely be leaving my wrist any time soon. Love it!
  15. Ok...excuse the n00bocity of what i'm about to ask, but... The He valve on my POrikaa screws down tight (like the crown). Is a mod such as this really necessary since the valve screws down? I can understand doing this for diving purposes, but I would imagine it would be 'good enough' straight out of the box for showering/surface swims. Regardless...thanks for the great info!
  16. You know, some purchases make you ask yourself "why didn't i do this earlier?!" This is one of those. From Thailand to my doorstep in CO all in 12 calendar days (which included memorial day), not bad i must say, i've waited longer before! Speedy enough for me. Consider me another happy customer. This watch is great! The build quality is incredible, especially for the price! Its as well nailed together as my $300 Carrera rep (big compliment, the Carrera rocks!). Far more of a quality feel than the $100 n00bmariner (a lot of that is down to the bracelet, however. I understand that the bracelet on even a gen Sub has a cheap feel). The dial is incredible, it's crisp printed and very well finished. Light AR on the (what i assume is) mineral crystal. The lume is tremendous (for a rep), just glows and glows bright even if its only exposed to light for a short period of time. Caseback engraving is very good & sharp. Lots of good in this watch...especially for the price! Quietest and most comfortable watch I own. It's a very substansial piece, and weighs in way heavier than any of my others (even my 44mm Pam...on leather). But the bracelet really hugs your wrist and after a while you dont notice the heft. Wears smaller than it should, and doesnt look out of place on my small, girly man wrists. Smooooth running with a nice sweep, and keeping perfect time so far. Ok, so it's not perfect. Sure the bezel doesnt have the correct edge, and the bezel insert (including pearl) is all wrong. Maybe the Omega logo on the dial has the little 'feet'. The hands might be a little short, and the date window isnt as close to the 3'o clock marker as the Gen. The He valve and crown are big... But who cares, really. Espeicially for around $100USD shipped! I think really the only people that will notice these flaws are the members of this forum, and Omega ADs. Buy it. Wear it. Enjoy it. That said, Reg was a pleasure to deal with. Fast, concice communication. Easy and painless payment, and he shipped almost immediately. Quick shipping to USA, and the watch was packaged so well that it took me a while to open it! I'll certainly be buying from him again. Oh, and the bracelet is a sonuvabitch to resize! Had 5 links to remove, so I used a cheapo watch pin pusher tool to get the pin started out, and used a locking needle-nose pliers to pull it the rest of the way out. The toughest part for me was getting the pins back in. Had to use some considerable force with a hammer to get them to move, and i bent/snapped several pins in the process. (protip: i cut new pins out of a small safety pin, they're the exact diameter as the OEM pins, and you can cut them to size using a wire cutter. Not pretty, but it works in a pinch) The key here is patience, and once you get the technique down its actually not that difficult (this was my first bracelet ive resized using pins). Don't be afraid to put a little muscle into it! Anyways...enough rambling....pics!
  17. So what's the final verdict? How long did it take?
  18. I feel your pain, brotha. I've played the rep waiting game 3 times before this, and it doesn't really get much easier. Ordered mine a week ago, and no sign of it in the states yet. Patience...we need ninja-like patience..... (gotta remember it is coming from Thailand...which is a good distance away)
  19. Ok... I couldn't take it anymore. This thread. Sitting here...taunting me. So I went and ordered one for myself! Orange Bezel. Can't wait. Thanks Reg!
  20. Well that about sums it all up right there. Nicely said!
  21. Ooh, my first wrist check thread. Very exciting! Rocking my PAM 113 today...
